True, I do not believe that Hindu astrology is really Vedic, but there are also Hindus who say that "Vedic" astrology is not Vedic at all and even in contradiction with the Vedas (e.g. famous Avtar Krishen Kaul). I doubt whether 'Hindu astrology' would be an any better term. Better is to ... With the Sun, Venus and Jupiter exalted, I think that they are very well placed and healthy. Following Ptolemy?s procedure in Tetrabiblos book III-10, http://www.oocities.org/astrologysources/classicalgreece/tetrabiblos/tetrabiblosbookiii.htm#side47 , I think it?s the Sun that needs to be focused on... At least I?m glad that nobody here ever asked for my natal data to find an explanation why I disagree with them. Forum: Nativities & General Astrology Topic: Using Whole Signs or Placidus for Natal Replies: 162 Views: 71554 Fri Dec 02, 2011 4:50 pm Jump to post
Many issues in astrology can be considered as 'idealisations', whether in ancient or contemporary astrology: the signs as idealisations of the lunar months, the degrees as idealisations of the days. The division of the four elements. The planets as rulers over certain sectors in the ecliptic, etc... Thanks both to you Margherita and Martin. In Margherita's article Ptolemy is quoted about not to work in "accordance to the usual systems". I know Martin once explained this but I don't remember well. Were the 'usual systems' based on the arithmetical method of calculating the rising times... Question to Margherita and Martin: I assume that you both don't use the whole sign houses. What house system(s) do you use then? Alchabitius? I don't ask for a explanation/justification for the use of a certain system, I'm just curious. Mars goes retrograde end of January 2012 and will be near 8? Virgo again mid-March. After going direct half-April he will be there again mid-May. Perhaps we should keep an eye on this planet at those periods. Maybe the psychiatry discussion will take several months. The criminal trial itself may be ... Perhaps the moment of certain events expressed in seasonal hours and related to a certain meaning was there before the use of houses and/or planetary strengths On the other hand, the older astro-logical texts use the popular division of day and night. The omen of an eclipse depends on the night watc... The arguments for and against whole sign houses tend to overlap. What one person might perceive as a strength another may see as a weakness. That's true. Your point 3, no intercepted signs (and houses, I don't know the correct term), is the most attractive one. However non-interception already occu... Mars is now in 8? Virgo. I compared this with Breivik?s natal chart and it?s conjunct close to his natal Moon-Saturn conjunction (However no 100% certainty about the Moon's position because of unknown birthtime). In a quick view I don?t see relations of the time of the bombs in Oslo and the actual t...
