Michael, Thanks for that!!! Now that you jarred my memory, I remember reading that article by Deborah. Somehow it slipped my memory. Actually, the old rationale for sign rulership and detriment makes pretty good sense to me. Thanks for that. Some good information there. I should have been more precise in my terminology. I actually meant domicile/detriment and wasn't thinking of the Exaltation/Fall theme at all. That was my error. Forum: Traditional (& Ancient) Techniques Topic: Exaltation and Detriment Replies: 4 Views: 4221 Sat Jun 21, 2014 11:22 pm Jump to post
Exaltation and Detriment I have been looking for a discussion of this subject, pouring over past topics on this forum, and can't seem to find it. It seems to me that it has been discussed before, but I just can't seem to find it. Specifically, I'm looking for its origins....how the other planets were determined. The Sun I c... Andrew, Thanks ever so much! That was a quite lucid and logical explatation which I had never encountered before. That gave me a better understanding of the duality of possibilities extant in any given situation. Well, I'm trying to understand....I suppose....the philosophy behind this. Perhaps the thinking of the original authors is what I'm trying to say. It seems a bit of a contradiction to me for Venus to be Triplicity Ruler for Earth, yet be in Fall in Virgo. In the same way it really doesn't make sense... Essential Dignity I was reading an article by Deborah about the Essential Dignities (good article), and she gave a little test. ?In which three signs is Venus essentially debilitated??.....the correct answer of course, being Scorpio Aries and Virgo. The first chart I looked at after reading that has Venus at 28 Virgo... Forum: Horary & Electional Astrology Topic: Essential Dignity Replies: 8 Views: 4900 Thu Aug 15, 2013 7:38 pm Jump to post

That has been my experience. The one whose planet is in the other's house has invariable been more "attuned" to the other, more invested in them...or interested...and generally, a bit "weaker", more "in their power", so to speak...being right on the cusp excepted, of co... Planet House Placement Sometimes Lilly is hard to understand. I was reading and came across this passage: "Contrary te rules of the Ancients, I have ever found that when the Lord of the 7th haso all th been in the ascendant, the querant has loved most, and when the Lord of the ascendant was in the 7th, the quiested l... Well, I don't want to go overboard here, as the Psychological Astrology brought me into the fold, so to speak. Authors like Liz Greene and Rob Hand made sense of all this, and placed it in a context I could understand. So, while I think they may have dropped the ball on some things, I am still convi... Well, as an Aquarian, I can say that whatever the book preach, Saturn rules Aquarius. I don't think we really have a handle on the Outer Three yet, and it may take another hundred years before we do. All the hype about the "Uranian Aquarian" is nice, it sounds good, but it simply isn't tru...
