First of all I would like to congratulate Ben Dykes on his translation of Guido Bonatti?s Liber Astronomiae. All serious astrologers should be grateful for the dedicated work that he has put into this project. The subject I would like to discuss is Bonatti?s description of the rule ?collection of li... Hi Gryffindor, After many years of studying the rules of horary astrology in detail I have come to the conclusion that they are unreliable. They are not hard and fast as they do not always resolve questions. As a result, several years ago, I decided to quit the practice of horary astrology altogethe... Stonehenge & Summer Solstice Hi Everyone, At present, the summer solstice at Stongehenge is celebrated at sunrise. I'm suggesting that it should be celebrated at noon, when the Sun reaches its highest position of the day at its highest north declination. This is when it 'stands still', any comments? Maurice. Hi Draco, One point regarding the red diagonal cross saltire of St. Patrick, in Ireland, to the best of my knowledge, it has never been used. I suspect that it was an invention by the British government to conveniently fit the flag in 1801. It would be interesting to find out where it originated. Ma... Hi Draco, I believe that the 26 counties seceded in 1921, for whatever reason Westminster did not get around to making it official until 1927 when the King signed the document. 12th April 1927 - Ireland secedes from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, to form the United Kingdom of Great... Deborah, I finally concluded that there was no astrological sense to the terms and their arrangement. They were not visible in the night sky and were the figment of someone's imagination, therefore they were of no use and should be discarded. Maurice. Hi Deborah, I worked through the rules for the terms step by step as set out by Ptolemy in my book, The Sun & The Aspects. You will find tables for each sign in the Appendix. It was quite tricky juggling everything together. Let me know if this helps. Maurice. Forum: Traditional (& Ancient) Techniques Topic: How are Ptolemy?s terms determined? Hi Pete, There are special astrological meanings for the words frustration and prohibition apart from the meanings you listed. The Oxford English Dictionary has a category for prohibition but not frustration even though they have used Lilly?s Christian Astrology and Wilson?s Dictionary as sources. T... Hi Trojan, It makes sense to try all of the methods used by Lilly and others, though examples from the 'others' are thin on the ground. Timing is not easy and I don't know of any reliable method. To satisfy yourself test every method you know thoroughly and see what the results are. That's about the... Forum: Horary & Electional Astrology Topic: Perfection: Real-time or symbolic measurement? Hi Pete, Recently in the AA Journal, July/August 2006, vol. 48, no. 4, pp. 5-14, I wrote an article on this very subject. I tried to explain to beginners among many other things, the difference between prohibition and frustration. Since then 2 letters from Graeme Tobyn questioning parts of the artic...
