49 by ModWasp Publishing is 9th house. Well, if you really want to get to the nitty gritty, the natal 5th house is enterpreneurship, or self employment. Astrologer Jamie Binder makes that case in her book, Planets in Work. The 10th's rulerships include vocation, profession and one's employment. If you work for yourself - as I do - one is still effectively working for some else because it's assumed that your supplying a service in return for money. There are no historical references for self-employment being associated to the 5th house. Whoever astrologer Jamie Binder is, they've got that one wrong. Verum e

The tradition view is that all employment matters stemmed from the 10th house, because originally, going back to the time of the dark ages, your father or parent decided your career or life work. That is a very medieval way of looking at things. The more modern (and correct) 21st century view is that the 5th house is your work and it originally should stem from your hobby. Entreprenership is also taking a gamble or risk about yourself, hence the 5th house ! Maybe you should read Jamie Binder's book and stop being so defensive about people who obviously know more than you ! LOL That said, in third-world countries, where Catholicism or Islam rules and there is often a patriarchal society, the 10th house may indeed still be relevent, because career decisions are often family decisions shaped by the parents of the family, and the father is still top dog? My own parents come from a third world country, so I should know. Jupiter, the ruler of my natal 5th house, falls in my natal 3rd house of communications. Thus, media, teaching, and transportation, are my main careers. My natal Jupiter is is Libra. My first job in life was working for Canada's biggest law-firm. I worked in the legal business later in my career and also, have done Venus related work, such as graphic design artist, working for a bank (Venus is in Taurus) where I have made over 2 million dollars in banking sales. 51 by ModWasp Just because someone's written a book, t doesn't mean that they are correct. Maybe you should read Jamie Binder's book and stop being so defensive about people who obviously know more than you ! LOL So, do you think that Manilius, Lilly, Firmicus and Al-Biruni to name but a few who's opinion I share, are all wrong then? I'm not sure which of my posts defends Binder's book - I'm attacking it. Isn't it obvious? My original post was merely suggesting that pornography is a 9th house activity (because pornography is the publication of explicit images) and not a 5th house rulership. Although the 5th does rule scandal, so I can see how you are confused here. And how did I come to that conclusion? I've thought about it. I'm happy to suggest some worthwhile reading material if you'd like. Verum e

I think that each method of astrology can work, well, and, there is no absolute astrology, either. Astrology is always indigenous to the culture from which it came, hence all astrology, in my view, is valid, as all cultures are equally valid. All of the major civilizations of the world practiced their own astrology. Look, since this site is made up mostly of traditional astrologers, I guess I am bound to meet the traditionalists at some point, right. The other thing to know is, I typically have great relationships with the Brits, but, in England, I have relocated Libra, rising, and Mars is located on the descendant. That can be problematic, at times. I can attract discord, aggressive people in these so called Mars zones. I could fight with you British people, all day ! What would be accomplished? I think that, at the end of the day, it is best to merely acknowledge everyone's right to express an opinion and leave it at that. Let the internet reader decide, who is right or wrong. Maybe that is the ultimate purpose of this great site ? So, we agree to disagree. Whoopidee doo, as the Fonz once said (the star of the 1970's tv show, Happy Days (with American actor Henry Winkler, Sun in Scorpion, no less).

Rather, you are set in your ways, like many astrologers, out there. You haven't even read Jamie Binder's excellent book, yet, you have condemned it. That is a sign of real arrogance. As James M recently said, the purpose of real astrology is to question the status quo, and not to blindly go along with things ! Why don't you explain to this board what rules your natal 5th house, and what planets reside there, and the aspects and then, your career and its conditions, will be clearly outlined. Why don't you try this method and see if it works (all of you reading this, assuming that you are self employed). In Larry Flynt's case, his 5th house ruler, Venus, is in Scorpio, conjunct Mars in Scorpio, which perfectly describes his career (sex, nudity, and porn). Mars is also a sign of violence and accidents. Natal Mars and Venus squares Pluto, which signifies his shooting by a lone gunman, which has left him paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. Natal Venus square Pluto also denotes power struggles and represents his many legal cases, including battling the United States Postal Service for mail entrapment and distributing porn illegally. Venus in Scorpio (a sign of its detriment) is also a sign of notoriety, hence his work has related to things like strip clubs, pornography, and even perverted sex and, according to astro.com, bestiality.
55 by ModWasp I could fight with you British people, all day ! What would be accomplished? Your hospitalisation, I would imagine. As James M recently said,, the purpose of real astrology is to question the status quo, and not to blindly go along with things ! But that's exactly what you are doing! Funnily enough, I've just posted something about massive hypocrisy (Jupiter) on another thread. Part from Larry Flynt, do you have any other example charts that shows someone's career by their 5th house? There must be 1000's of them! Please do share them, because after 30 years of studying the subject it's the first time I've come across this theory. I have about 93 books on astrology (only about 26 of them are worth reading by the way - modern astrology is rubbish), and I can't find a single reference to the 5th being ruler of one's career in any of them - and I used to work in investigative journalism! Your posts are not objective. It's obvious that you are a pro-establishment anti-Trump 'liberal'. I mean, you even suggest that Trump is guilty of incest and is a pedophile, just because you don't like him. How very irresponsible. Some say that Trump "bedded" Ivanka Trump, his own daughter, and once had sex with a minor. Laters. P.S Transits and midpoints don't work. Verum e
56 by Jupiterhead Why would pornography be ruled by the 5th house? Surely pornography is the exact opposite of what the 5th house rules, namely children. I'd put pornography under Scorpio and 8th house as both rule taboo's. If it's not astronomically true, it's not astrologically true.
57 by ModWasp Ah, a voice of reason for a change. I'd put pornography under Scorpio and 8th house as both rule taboo's. Taboo: adjective - proscribed by society as improper or unacceptable. Pornography: noun - sexually explicit videos, photographs, writings, or the like Pornography is accepted as a normal everyday fact of life and is probably the biggest online industry, in terms of commerce and users. I'm not so sure that it could be labeled as taboo as its so openly and widely accepted nowadays. Sure, there are forms of porn that should rightly be considered taboo - scat and bestiality, for example - but the long and short of it is that porn is images of people having sex or masturbating. I don't think it's a taboo subject anymore (unless it's done in public view down at the local Tesco carpark) - sex sells everything. I think the main question is this: When does a private or explicit photo become pornography? When someone says "I'm going home to have sex tonight", we know it's a 5th house activity that they are about to indulge in. But, if someone states " I'm going home to make some pornography tonight", one gets the impression that photos or video will be made and something will be published from that particular dalliance. That now becomes a 9th house issue. It could be argued that the physical process of actually shooting the images belong in the 3rd, unless of course, they are a professional photographer/videographer or actor. In that case, we have to look to the 10th as the 10th house is widely regarded by serious astrologers as the house of occupation or career. Given the fact that pornography is the categorisation of explicit images, I think it would be safe to say that explicit images only effectively become porn once they are published or become available in the public domain. Which is, of course, a 9th house matter. Last edited by ModWasp on Sun Oct 15, 2017 3:53 pm, edited 1 time in total. Verum e
58 by Jupiterhead For me, sex is a 7th house matter. Sex is the coming together of you and your partners physical body (asc & dsc), and is a key component of any relationship. Plus, the 5th house is the 11th from the 7th and what one 'GAINS' from sex, is children. The 8th house being the 2nd from the 7th fits in with the theme of money for sex (porn and prostitution). Maybe the 9th (3rd from 7th) carries into with the whole shooting the images thing. I'd argue that porn is still a taboo subject. Mainly for the reasons below:- The link between porn and infidelity is not just something that antiporn advocates claim or that Ashley Madison apparently exploits. It’s a well-established fact of social science. Porn use is associated with a wide range of negative sexual behaviors and attitudes that significantly harm men, women, and especially intimate relationships. According to research compiled by Mary Anne Layden, Ph.D., director of the Sexual Trauma and Psychopathology Program for Cognitive Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania, adults who use porn are more likely than those who don’t to: rate sex partners as less attractive, be less satisfied with their partner’s sexual performance, desire sex without emotional involvement, try to get their partners to act out sex acts seen in porn, go to prostitutes, and, yes, among married porn users, have extramarital affairs. If it's not astronomically true, it's not astrologically true.
59 by ModWasp For me, sex is a 7th house matter. Sex is the coming together of you and your partners physical body (asc & dsc), and is a key component of any relationship. Not so sure Woody Allen would agree: “Don't knock masturbation. It's sex with someone you love.??? That's a 1st house thang. Plus, the 5th house is the 11th from the 7th and what one 'GAINS' from sex, is children. Not so sure about that either - that can't apply to homo/transsexual sex or couples who can't/don't want to have kids. The 8th house being the 2nd from the 7th fits in with the theme of money for sex (porn and prostitution). It's a reasoned argument, but my guess is that a prostitute would be the radical 11th - or the turned 7th from the 5th. Lilly assigns prostitution to Saturn and Bills to the 12th. Personally, I would assign the 10th if it's the occupation. But then we'd have to discuss the difference between the words 'prostitute' and 'whore', which I believe to have different meanings. A 'whore' in Dutch has a completely different connotation to the same word in English, for example. But lets not go there today. The real question is about pornography. Larry Flynt's made a career out of it - Lord 10 exalted in the 1st in cancer. No second guesses about the bits he likes! Verum e
60 by Jupiterhead It's always interested me how different schools of astrological thought interact when they exchange ideas with each other. Everyone is so emotionally invested into the subject. There has been a huge 'war' on youtube over recent weeks between the tropical and sidereal vedic astrologers. Fascinating stuff considering 90% of 'the community' are too scared to make any predictions. If it's not astronomically true, it's not astrologically true.
