appropriate horary question? 1 by Paula Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and to horary but not new to astrology. Recently I did a natal chart reading for a mother, with the daughter's permission, of the daughter's chart. The daughter, a teenager, is autistic and her mother's question was whether (from an astrological point of view) a special boarding school might be a good idea for next year, to try it at least. Intuitively I felt that the real question was Mom asking was "Would that be a way for me to have some relief from this huge responsibility", and at the same time she also genuinely wants what's best for her daughter. Which is very interesting because even though I'm new at this it seems to me that the horary chart is saying, Yeah, it'd definitely be good for Mom, but..... I get stuck there but am still learning, reading and thinking. Was the question an appropriate question to ask? I'm still working with the chart and am intrigued by the intensity of the moon saturn opposition because it is so aligned with how the mother and daughter are feeling about life and the living of it anyway, the conflict of responsibility/nurturing and the whole issue of each of them trying to find their way with those energies whether school is a viable option or not! I look forward to joining discussions now that I've found this forum. Quote Sun May 21, 2006 2:47 pm
2 by Sue Hi Paula, It is difficult to judge whether someone else's question is appropriate or not and we all have our ideas on it. However, I think this is a very appropriate question from people who need some genuine guidance. It might be difficult to get to the bottom of the issues involved because it is a complex problem. I would probably start with the relationship between the mother and the daughter. If it is a means of escaping each other then it might end up making issues worse. However, if this is a genuine solution for both of them it will be seen in the chart. Good luck with it. Sue Quote Mon May 22, 2006 12:27 am
3 by Tanit I think it's primarily up to the astrologer if they want to accept the question or not. I'm of a mind that if a question makes you feel uncomfortable, it will be harder for you to read objectively anyway, so it can be just over all not a great idea (for you or the querent). When I receive certain questions that I have an issue with and I do not think will help anyone to know, I tell the person that I am sorry but I cannot help them with this problem. I don't think a chart is the method of help to go to first, honestly. For example, a good friend of mine asked me, "does my aunt hate my child?" I was first of all completely shocked that someone could believe that their family member "hates" their child, who at the time was about 2-3 yrs old. So I just questioned her more about it to make sense of what in the world she was talking about. I talked to her on a friendly basis without divination. I didn't see how looking at a chart would advise her properly in that matter. If she wants to know how her aunt feels about their relationship (it involved having a child out of wedlock and the aunt's supposed prejudices), it's better not to pry into her feelings via a chart, but to be candid and discuss their problems on a real level. She never once had any conversation with her about her misgivings. Why go to a chart first? If it tells you your aunt hates the child, does that help anyone? Quote Sat Oct 16, 2010 5:08 am
