Hi Folks:

I am very curious to get some input on this horary. I have two cats. One of them seems to me like he has lost a little weight recently, and isn?t as active as he normally is. But I am not sure?maybe I am just being an overanxious cat-mommy. So, I decided to ask a horary: Does Darcy (my cat) have a health problem? Chart data is 6-15-2006, 4:58pm EDT, St. Augustine, FL, USA.

The houses to look at are the sixth (representing the cat) and the sixth of the sixth, or the 11th, (representing potential health problems). I think I should also look at the general condition of his ruler, and possibly at the condition of the Sun, which is the natural significator of health and vitality.

There is no aspect between Mars ruling the sixth and Mercury ruling the sixth of the sixth?so that suggests that there are no health problems looming. The Sun is in good shape--it has some essential dignity, through MR by exaltation with the North Node and by triplicty with Saturn; also, it does not receive any stressful aspects. So far so good. However, Mars?significator of Darcy?is not in great shape. Mars is peregrine, applying to a conjunction with Saturn, and also applying to a square with Jupiter, which happens to be conjunct the Arabic Part of Sickness. That worries me. In particular, the applying conjunction to Saturn could be showing that he will loose even more weight. So, does the horary show some type of health problem? And if so, what is its nature?

Any feedback will be MUCH APPRECIATED. I really love this cat. I know I should not play favorites?since I have two cats?but Darcy is my favorite cat ever and I don?t want anything bad to happen to him.

Of course, I realize that I could just take him to the veterinarian?but my past experience has shown me that vets can?t always diagnose a problem unless there are really obvious symptoms. Unlike people, cats can?t say where it hurts when they are ill. If Darcy is sick, then I?d like to be able to tell the vet what to look for.

I've referenced Christian Astrology for this. Lilly says that Saturn is the natural ruler of cats, but if ill-aspected (and one can consider a conjunction of the two malefics an ill aspect), especially in Leo, it can indicate 'ruptures'; also palsies, consumption, and diseases associated with cold and dry. Mars, on the other hand, would indicate fevers. It also signifies 'worms', so you may want to consider a worming treatment, especially if kitty is losing weight and feeling listless.

It's also just occurred to me, although it seems obvious, that Leo rules the heart, so you may want to consider 'heart worms', which would make kitty feel very poorly, indeed.

Thanks! I already have an appointment with the vet. I had thought that some type of worms could be a possibility. Both of my cats are indoor cats--but a few weeks ago, Darcy got out when I left for work, and I didn't notice because I was in a hurry. He was outside all day until I got home, and he might have picked up something by being outside for so long.

I would never have thought that Saturn would be the natural significator of cats--the Sun makes more sense, because it rules Leo. I wonder what is the logic of using Saturn to represent cats?

I am also wondering what to make of the house placement of Mars and Saturn--in the 9th, which is the fourth of the sixth. I looked up the fourth house in my book of rulerships, and it is associated with the lungs and stomach. I have not noticed that my cat has any breathing problems--but I suppose the association with the stomache makes sense, because he appears to me to be losing weight--Saturn in fourth-of-the-sixth could be showing that his eating is being constricted in some way.

I suppose Saturn might represent cats because they are nocturnal, and Saturn is a dark planet. It's also cold and dry, and cats are sorta cold and dry (speaking as a dog person! )

I got back from the vet a little while ago. She told me that my cat has a bad case of gingivitis--that's his main health problem. The reason he may appear to me to have lost a little bit of weight is, since his gums are so sore from the gingivitis, he may be uncomfortable chewing and so he is eating less. The vet does not think he has heartworm, because he is not exhibiting any of the symptoms, and cats are much less likely to get it than dogs.

So, I need to get his teeth cleaned, and hopefully that will take care of the problem.

It occurs to me that the conjunction of Saturn and Mars could very well indicate tooth problems. Saturn rules the bones and teeth. Mars rules inflammation--gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums. (Indeed, the veternarian and the vet tech both pointed out to me how red Darcy's gums are--red is Mars' color). Also, Mars rules the head, and that is the part of Darcy's body where this condition is manifesting.

The medical outcome definitely appears to fit the planetary symbolism. I would be very interested, though, if someone could suggest how the horary would have been different if this had been a really serious, life-threatening illness, as opposed to the need for a teeth-cleaning. To me, the conjunction of two peregrine malefics (one of which signifies the quesited) seems like it ought to be a pretty dire indicator in a chart. And yet--so far at least--this issue is not going have a dire outcome.

Actually, gingivitis seems elegantly accurate! I would think that because the two malefics are peregrine, it would indicate that the malady is *not* life-threatening, as peregrine status renders the planet powerless or at least less powerful. So, you have something 'bad', but not 'dire'. If Saturn and Mars had *not* been peregrine, it may have indicated something much worse.

I'm glad kitty only needs to brush his teeth. I've never looked at a pet chart before, so this is an education! I'd be very interested in what others have to say, as well!
