Hello!

I often get questions about relations where a third, unwanted, spouse is involved, and this has proved to be messy to interpret.

When a querent for example asks about the desired lovers relationship with his/her wife/spouse, like "Will X leave his girlfriend for me?", which house should I choose? Since the querent is signifyed by the ruler of the 1:st this house is already taken, and I can't really figure out which to choose apart form the 7:th from the 7:th - the 1:st. And the querent can't possibly share significator with the rival!

I'd be eternally grateful if anyone with better experience than me could offer some advice.

The 7th from the 7th (e.g the 1st) should be used for the 'unwanted' spouse; there *may* be some argument for using the 5th as the lover (but this is a modern interpretation so some will disagree). Also, the Sun is the traditional significator of husbands, Moon for wives, and Venus for sweethearts. Check for house placements and aspects.

Actually, I'll correct that a little; the spouse will always be the '7th from the...', depending on which house you use to represent the querent; e.g. if the querent is your brother, then you would use the 7th from the 3rd; if a friend, then the 7th from the 11th, etc. If it's a client, then it of course would be 7th from the 7th....

This is the way that Lilly seemed to go. Your main significators ought to be descriptive of the querent and quesited; any planets that they are closely associated with can represent other people they are with or who are involved in the situation. The test is always whether the planet is descriptive of that other party.

I've always used the 1:th house for the querent, but next time I get the question "Will X leave his wife?" I will consider the option of letting the 1:st signyfy X:s wife, and the querent be signified by, for example, Venus if it isn't taken by the other two significators. The querent is usually involved in the question, since the underlying desire always seems to be to get the rival out of the picture, be it a wife or a mistress.

Alas! All these 7:th house questions! I hardly ever get any questions than these! *frustrated* (I'm blaming my asc. ruler Mars in the 10:th house trine Venus for this!)
