THE JONAS METHOD

During research on family planning, Dr. JONAS (psychiatrist) discovers that women seem to follow a 30-day cycle after which sexual desire reaches its peak.
Keen on astronomy, interested in astrology, he felt intrigued by the natural correspondence between this 30-day cycle and the period of revolution of the Moon (28 days). He then studies the position of the Moon during these oestrous periods and discovers certain laws and cycles between the astral influences and the optimum days of fertility in women.
By studying the position of the Moon at the time of conception, he even makes predictions (90% accurate) on the sex of the child (method completed and verified by Dr. Kurt RECHNI, professor of gynecology).

Recognized by the scientific report of the research center on birth control Astra Nitra, but strongly criticized by conventional medicine, the 'Jonas method' which had proven itself for more than 10 years, ended up falling into oblivion. Some doctors continue to disseminate this method in Vienna, but without official support, their approach is difficult.

The verification calculations of the Jonas method are divided into 4 categories:
- Calculation of sterile days (same principle as the Ogino-Knaus method and probably the same pitfalls).

- Calculation of the days leading to the conception of a boy or a girl.
a) When the Moon is in a female sign at the time of ovulation, the child is female.
b) When the Moon is in a male sign, the child is male.

- Calculation of fertile days
Astral fertilization takes place when the gap between the Sun and the Moon repeats itself identically, each month (twice a month, every 14 days: waxing and waning aspect).

- Detection of pregnancies 'at risk'
They often occur when conflicting aspects of the birth chart come together at the time of conception.

When the physiological cycle (ovulation, natural fertility: on average 14 days after menstruation for a regular cycle of 28 days) and the astral cycle go hand in hand, the chances of fertility are increased.

On the other hand, if these cycles do not correspond (lag caused by irregular periods for example), the hope of maternity is weakened (which, according to Dr. Jonas, would explain certain sterilities). Today, taking the pill, by regulating the monthly cycle, makes it possible to modify the periods of ovulation and to harmonize natural fertility and astral fertility.

If today, in the field of prevention, the Jonas method has less reason to exist, it can on the other hand play a decisive role in the 'in vitro' design, by allowing the best moment to be chosen (the most important ) and why not by allowing you to choose the sex of the child.

How to determine the periods of astral fertility?

Astral cycles can be calculated for a lifetime.
You calculate, each month, the day when the natal Sun/Moon aspect (soli-lunar arc) is reproduced, starting from the New Moon (conjunction). The lunar soli cycle being 29/30 days, this distance between the Sun and the Moon is repeated twice in the month (except for births in New and Full Moon), in increasing aspect and decreasing aspect (the waxing aspect seems more powerful than the waning aspect). Duration 3 days: one day before, one day after.

How to proceed :
The ephemerides give us the position of the NM, the Phases and the major aspects between the Sun and the Moon (the day and the hour), throughout the month. We then read the longitude of the Moon to see if it is in a masculine sign (Boy) or in a feminine sign (Girl).

We can also use the compass to determine the distance between the Sun and the Moon, a distance that we will add to the New Moon of the month or months sought. The aspect is renewed, generally twice a month: waxing aspect and waning aspect.

Reminder :
The New Moon occurs when the Moon meets the Sun (conjunction). The Full Moon occurs when the Moon opposes the Sun. The Moon grows from its conjunction (NM) to its opposition with the Sun. It decreases from opposition (FM) to conjunction (NM).

- If the birth took place at the New Moon (conjunction), it is always at the NM that the astral fertility will take place (once a month).

- If the birth took place at the Full Moon (opposition), the astral fecundity will always occur at the FM (once a month).

- If the Sun and the Moon are in trine, it is the two days of the month during which the Moon will make a trine to the Sun (waxing aspect and waning aspect).

- If the Sun and the Moon do not make a major (or other known) aspect, it suffices to calculate the distance between the Sun and the Moon in order to find the day when each month the lunar soli arc is redone.

It is not every month that astral fertility and natural fertility come together, but it usually happens several times in life.

However, it should be noted that conceptions occurring during the waning cycle are more easily followed by spontaneous termination.
When a woman who wanted to conceive did not have her menstrual cycle in phase with her natal chart, Dr. JONAS made her take the contraceptive pill for two months, added the number of days between the time when the pregnancy took place. biological ovulation and the one where the astrological ovulation was planned, so that they coincide again.

He then imposed a waiting period of four months to verify the stabilization of the cycle. With a convincing result, Dr. JONAS specified the sex of the child starting from the sign in which the moon was at the time of conception (Moon in masculine sign for a boy, Moon in feminine sign for a girl). This turned out to be correct in 90% of the cases.

Following the same principle, when a woman does not want to conceive, all she has to do is shift her biological ovulation as much as possible from her astrological ovulation and watch that they never coincide. But be careful with this method many Jonas babies have been born.

Methodology for design purposes:

- Calculate the lunar soli difference = astrological ovulation (OA)
- Counter clockwise = in the direction of the signs of the zodiac
- Clockwise = opposite direction of the signs of the Zodiac.
- establish the calendar of astrological ovulations = the day(s) and hour(s) at which these same angular distance are reproduced monthly.
- Check the coincidence with biological ovulation (BO) = start date of menstruation + 14 days.
There is concordance = possible conception.
No concordance: concordance = conception all the more impossible if the number of days of difference between the dates is large.

- Restore the concordance between astrological (AO) and biological (BO) ovulation

- Take the pill for two months + number of days between BO and AO.

- Control the stability of the cycle for four months before conceiving.

- Plan conception from Day-1 to Day+2 of the astrological ovulation date.
To conceive a boy, plan the conception a month when the Moon is in a masculine sign: Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius.
To conceive a girl, plan the conception in a month when the Moon is in a feminine sign: Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces.
Example chart:



The natal chart presents a partile sextile between the Sun and the Moon.

On December 26, a child was conceived (for sure, but by accident).
The New Moon before conception took place on 12/21/1995 at 02:23 in the sign of
Aquarius.
The exact sextile (wasing) occurred again on 12/26/1995 at 09:45, at 28 degrees from the male sign Aquarius.

On the day of conception, the Moon, still in Aquarius, is square to the Ascendant.
On 09/28/1996, a little boy was born by caesarean section (unplanned).
It's not about blindly believing in the Jonas method, it's just about testing.

This article raises a conceptual aspect of astrology which is not used enough by astrologers.

Kepler retains from traditional astrology above all the angular distance of planets.
In a letter to Thomas Harriot from 1606: "For me, ten years now, I have been rejecting completely the division into twelve signs, the houses, the rulerships, the triplicities; I retain only the aspects and bring astrology back to the harmonic doctrine.??? (Gesammelte Werke, Munich, Beck, 1938 XV, 349).

David Cochrane thinks that Kepler is the one who raised the importance of angular distance between planets eventually leading to the theory of midpoints.
Midpoints were known and used to calculate Arabian Lots or Parts, like part of fortune in the 3rd century. Guido Bonati used direct midpoints (1123–1300) in the 13th century to refine timings in an event chart but Kepler raised it to the uttermost level.

The angular distance between 2 planets (regardless if there is a recognizable aspect or not) at birth is part of our personal signature. And when this angular distance repeats itself by transit, events happen in our life. Most of the time, we look at Ptolemaic aspects to our natal chart to try to find significant events. And it is true that it happens this way also but we neglect the natal angle in our chart which is the difference between looking at a personal cycle vs a generic cycle as explained by Dane Rudhyar and its followers like Alexandre Ruperti and Michael Meyer.
The other day, I was watching to a webinar where a woman explained that the recent VE/MA conjunction in her daughter's chart brought a significant period for her. The fact is that in her natal chart, she had a VE/MA conjunction (regardless if this makes an aspect of not).
So if you have a distance of let's say 75 degrees between VE and MA, look by transit when VE and MA will have a distance of 75 degrees. Sometimes, the personal angle (a natal conjunction for example) will match the generic angle (a conjunction by transit). It means that you are attuned with events happening around you. And chances are that if it connects with the Aries Point you will make the headlines as The Aries Point is the fame point according to Noel Tyl and Robert Hand.
Think of John Lennon, born with a JU/SA conjunction in 1940 semi-square to the Aries Point.

1980 – JU/SA conjunction - He released his album 'Double Fantasy' and was killed in NY.

I (obviously) took the liberty to move your interesting topic over to the general forum, as I don't see it as belonging to traditional astrology per se.

I fully agree that the Jonas method deserves a lot more attention. Besides its practical use, it could go a long way proving that there is science behind astrology all by itself.

Remarkably, while we all know that an individual's gender can't be determined by looking at their natal chart, Dr Jonas showed that there is indeed a correlation between it and astrological influence - factoring in the moment of conception.

I know that some here will disagree with me on this, but I find it kind of refreshing to see gender "written in the stars" in time when "gender fluidity" seems to be all the rave. (But hey, different strokes for different folks.)

As for Kepler, his Harmonices Mundi (Harmony of the World) is a profoundly inspiring book whose influence on modern astrology should not be underestimated. Even though he went a little too far by his general rejection of traditional astrological lore, in my view.

For example, the Ptolemaic aspects are indeed in a league of their own and still most astrologers' first consideration when looking at a chart - for very good reasons!

That said, non-classical angular connections may be significant as well, just like we may occasionally want to include some asteroids in a chart in order to "fine tune" our analysis of it.

That the Jonas method highlights the angular distance between Sun and Moon as significant in any case is at least thought provoking.

The Jonas Method is the cousin of the Trutine of Hermes as described by William Lilly in Christian Astrology on pp.502-505 of his book.
I think Kepler, being a German astronomer, prefigured the influence of midpoints in the landscape of astrology. And he gave the importance to the major aspects in his mathematical figures.
What I find interesting in the Jonas method is to find out that 'something is happening' in the body of a woman when the same angular distance of the Sun/Moon repeats itself every month. And this is a very personal cycle. In this regard, I tend to view it similar to the 'planetary phases' as described by Dane Rudhyar. For example, he describes the waxing sextile as 'organizing' and the waning sextile as 're-organizing'. This should tell us something about the fertility of a woman if she has a Sun/Moon sextile in her natal chart.

And if we extend it to every pair of planets in our chart, we can gain a more meaningful view of what is needed for our evolution.
Let me give you an example.
In my chart, I have a waning trine between JU and SA. Rudhyar says of this phase 'the ability to respond at based on 'intake' and responsiveness at the level of holistic understanding, of intuition giving meaning to the entire situation in which any event, encounter or experience occurs.'

At 20 years old, when the same angular distance repeated itself in my chart, Saturn was on my natal Mercury and I stopped my studies to travel to India to try and find something more meaningful in my life not to follow the rat race.
At 40 years old, same angular distance again. This time Saturn had entered my 7th House and Jupiter was in my 3rd House. After a relationship break-up, I started studies as a programmer in computer field.
At 60 years old, this time both Jupiter(11th) and Saturn(3rd) were returning to their natal placement at the same time, I held a key position in a company and decided to return back to my more meaningful experience in life: astrology. And I have to say that this relationship of JU/SA in the waning cycle has asked me to 'let go' of things in life to find my place in society. A lifelong task!
