I’ve seen a chart of a woman with Venus in Aries whose Venus was getting a reception but she wasn’t pretty or married or having children (hint: birth time is unknown).

Venus can help dictate whether or not someone has children but Aries is an independent sign so the reason is usually via choice rather than being barren. I wouldn't necessarily call that an affliction. Planets in detriment often act out of character or are unconventional. Being outside the norm isn't always a bad thing. I wouldn't associate the placement of Venus with beauty or lack thereof unless is was a descriptor of appearance in some way, such as aspecting the ascendant lord, being the ascendant lord or in the first house, or on an angle, etc. Obviously not all Venus in Taurus or Libra are beautiful either even if their Venus is not afflicted. It can describe someone tomboyish, awkward, coarse or even vulgar since Venus deals with our social skills. More often than not it is usually just unconventionality in some way though.

I have Venus in Aries conjunct Mars in Aries, which is a hard aspect and received. I never wanted children but I am plenty fertile enough. I am conventionally attractive but I have poor social skills and I am a very unconventional person (and don't want to be otherwise). I am musically gifted. I am also a very independent person. My Venus trines my ascendant lord Moon and is angular so it does dictate my appearance. Mine is in my 10th and helps describe my mother, who also had Venus in detriment and was a difficult influence on my life. We have been estranged for over a decade. My father also had Venus in Aries in the 1st house and was very handsome in his youth and had poor social skills and was eccentric. His was square Mars (received). He had 4 daughters. We are also not close. My parents were abusive and had an abusive relationship. My Venus is also opp Pluto in the 4th.

In my experience, Venus in detriment often shows some sort of sexual trauma, which is either caused by the native or they are the victim of trauma or experience it in some way. Lady Gaga is another example of that and my mother was raped by my father. I saw sexual violence from an early age and grew up around prostitutes. You may notice common sex offenders have a Venus essentially poorly placed.
