PIC Mercury transit

The transit of Mercury (as defined by astronomy) occurs when the planet Mercury crosses directly between the Sun and the Earth, blocking out a small part of the Sun's rays. During the transit, Mercury appears as a tiny black dot moving across the disc of the Sun. This phenomenon can only occur if the Earth, Mercury and the Sun are practically aligned, including if the Earth and Mercury are simultaneously on the line of Mercury's North Node.
When this happens Mercury is at Perigee (closest to the Earth), retrograde, inferior conjunction with the Sun and can be viewed from Earth in May or November around 19 degrees of Taurus (NN) and Scorpio (SN).
The Moon, Mercury and Venus are the only planets that can be seen passing in front of the Sun from the Earth.
For the Moon, we call it a Solar Eclipse, for Venus and Mercury the astronomers call this a Transit.
As for the Transit of Venus on June 29, 2004 at 9Gem38 in Direct Station, it was the first one in 248 years.

"German astronomer Johannes Kepler was the first to predict that a Mercury transit would occur. He calculated that both a transit of Mercury and a transit of Venus would take place in 1631, and issued a notice to fellow astronomers in 1629 asking them to observe the phenomenon."

One can view it as analogous to an Eclipse except that Mercury is too small to completely cover or be obscured by the Sun. PIC Mercury small dot

Frequency

The 'Transits of Mercury' as seen from Earth have a frequency of 13 or 14 per century.
They can occur around May 8 at intervals of 13 or 33 years (19 Tau ME R cj SU), or around November 10 every 7, 13 or 33 years.
The last three transits of Mercury were on November 8, 2006, May 9, 2016, and November 11, 2019. The next one will occur on November 13, 2032.
The duration of the transit varies from a few minutes to more than 8 hours.

Nodes of the Planets

In addition, when a planet is located at its own nodes, it takes on its most "fateful" character — that is, there is in the power it represents an element of inevitability, of inherent cosmic necessity."

The 'fateful character' expressed by Rudhyar relates to our personal freedom when he said that "Freedom is the inherent capacity of fulfilling the potential characteristics of one's individual self-hood." We are free to choose what will make us grow or not. Our consciousness knows, it is not religious and it leads us to individualization.

To which we can add that the Uranus/NN encounter happened on Mercury's Node. And it can mark a more important change if we combine both the Moon and Mercury's Nodes together.

Astrologers and Mercury's Node

Whatever planet you have in this axis will have a Mercurian color. And the recent overlapping of the Moon's Node during spring suggest a change (House position) with a Mercurian color . I looked up randomly at some astrologers charts and it does seem to influence they way they practice astrology and I focused on the axis Taurus/Scorpio 2nd and 3rd decanate in the range of the retrogradation period when the inferior conjunction happens in the Taurus/Scorpio axis over Mercury's Node.

- Erin Sullivan (AS,SU, SN, wideME Scorpio square MA-SA-PL in Leo) An international practice, she is a lecturer and author of several books, including "Saturn in Transit" (2001) and "Retrograde Planets" (2006)

- Marc Edmund Jones (AS Sco) Best remembered as the major leader in the twentieth century of a movement to reformulate the study of astrology. He wrote prolifically on many themes in astrology. Today he is best known for his work on aspect patterns and the Sabian symbols.

- Michel Gauquelin (SU-ME Sco in the 4th) French psychologist and statistician, he compiled six massive volumes of data from birth records in Europe.

- Karl Ernst Krafft (SU-MC Tau) Known mainly for his controversial political views.

- William Lilly (SU-VE Tau 2nd opp SA Sco 8th). What strikes me here, he is remembered as the most influential astrologer on Horary astrology. What better symbol than Saturn as a time factor in this axis to describe 'Horary'.

- Neil Michelsen (SU Tau 12th trine SA in Cap 8th) He founded ACS, Astro-Computing Service., a creation which melded together his two lifelong interests, metaphysics and computers. As ACS became the leading source of computerized calculations for astrologers,

- Deborah Houlding (SU Tau 11th) No need to describe Skyscript, her baby, a forum (11th House) promoting ancient astrology.

MO
- Michael Feist (MO Tau 8th) The Witte-Verlag publishing house has for many decades been committed to promoting the authentic dissemination of Uranian Astrology and he is committed to this tradition 'because the structure of the planetary pictures has been preserved.'

- Marc Penfield (SU-VE-MO Sco 5th) An enthusiastic collector with 'The Penfield Collection' (2001)

- Robert Hand (MO-MA Sco 5th) He learned the basics of casting charts for these applications from his father, Wilfred Hand, who successfully applied the astrological techniques of his day to forecasting the stock market.
Hard to classify a giant like him with a lifetime creativity and a pioneer in so many areas of astrology.

- Arielle Guttman (MO Sco 8th)
American pro astrologer involved with astrological research, writing, lecturing, teaching and counseling since 1975. Arielle is the author of several books 'The Venus Star Point' (2 books) and co-author of two books; "Astro-Compatibility," The Astro*Carto*Graphy Book of Maps" with Jim Lewis, and "Mythic Astrology" with Kenneth Johnson. She maintains a busy counseling practice and pursues her special interest in relocation astrology at her home in Santa Fe, NM.


ME
- Robert Blaschke (SU-ME Sco in 3rd) American full-time pro astrologer in Portland, OR, a president of the Oregon Association and a member of NCGR and ISAR. In 1992, Blaschke established the Earthwalk School of Astrology, which inlcuded a bookstore-chart report and Macintosh software business. He had an active private practice along with a full teaching curriculum and taught astrology at the Portland Community College. He is the author of articles in TMA, the NCGR Newsletter, Kosmos and The Ascendant, writing from a Rudhyar-Ruperti-Bailey type perspective. His books include a five-volume series entitled "Astrology, a Language of Life." (3rd House)

- Nicholas Culpeper (ME-VE Sco 10th opp SA/PL Tau 4th)
British physician and astrologer of the 17th century who had a short and eventful life. He may be best remembered for his "Culpeper's Herbal," a compendium of natural healing that became the standard text for over three centuries.
Also published 'Pharmacopoeia' and translated the complete texts of 'Materia Medica' from Latin to English.
He was left alone, financially destitute, emotionally bankrupt and cut off from both sides of his titled family at age 23. Episodes of depression plagued him periodically for the rest of his life.
He also said 'a physician without astrology is like a pudding without fat.'

- Ken Gillman (MO-ME Tau 11th opp MA Sco 5th)
British astrologer and statistician who specialized in genetics, blood groups, etc. Founder (1984), editor and publisher of "Considerations" which he discontinued in early 2006 and it was considered by many to be the best astrological journal available.

- Jeff Green (JU-VE-ME Sco ASC square SA/PL Leo 9th)
American astrologer and world lecturer; author of "Pluto: The Evolutionary Journey of the Soul" and "Uranus: Freedom From the Known," works translated into ten languages by 1994. With a full-time practice for more than 20 years (by 1999), he has counseled over 16,000 clients. He has lectured throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and in Israel and has been a participant in almost all of the major astrological conferences in the world. He is founder and director of the School of Evolutionary Astrology.

- Bill Meridian (ME Tau near cusp 5th square PL Leo in 8th)
American financial astrologer who has been on Wall Street from the '70s and first began applying computers to financial astrology in 1983. In the mid '80s he began the study of eclipse paths and mundane patterns. He designed the "AstroAnalyst" and "Financial Trader" programs, the first astrological financial software. In 8/1995 he completed his book "Planetary Stock Trading," which explains the use of the horoscope of the first trade and is complete with 1,000 charts of U.S. stocks.

VE
- Lois Rodden
Astrological data collector and founder of Astrodatabank. She was a pioneer in raising awareness of the sourcing of data being foundational in the credibility of astrology. Beginning around 1973, she built up a clientele mainly of people in the entertainment industry. She said "It was always a cottage industry. It was my voice, my way to reach people with corrections and updated data, and the best way to trade data with my colleagues and fellow data-freaks."

- Bruno Huber (VE Tau 9th) He worked all his life with his wife Louise Huber with an emphasis on psychological and humanistic astrology.

- Stephen Arroyo (VE Tau 8th) He provided some of the deepest insights into the nature and phenomenology of the astrological factors. Previous occupations include marriage counseling, and the practice of a homeopathy and polarity therapy.

MA
- Alfred Witte (MA-PL Tau 8th sextile Saturn V and square UR MC) German Uranian astrologer who established a sophisticated system of spatial reference and founded the Hamburg School. The advocate of an esoteric and experimental astrology, he was the initiator of Uranian Astrology and one of its most progressive innovators.

JU
- Ray Merriman (VE-JU Sco in 2nd)
American professional astrologer since 1968, a publisher, author and commodities specialist. He founded the Aquarian Revelation Center in 1972, Seek-It Publications in 1977, and the Merriman Market Analyst in 1981. Has developed financial astrological software programs.

- Robert Zoller (JU Sco 8th sextile SU-ME-MA 12th)
Medieval astrologer, Latinist and practitioner of occult philosophy, he was an original translator in the Latin track in Project Hindsight. Zoller operated a correspondence course on medieval astrological techniques. He was a leader in the professional application of medieval methods in his time. Winner of the 1998 Southern Cross Award, he lectured and taught worldwide.

- Chris Brennan (ME-SA Sco 9th) He has a keen interest in the history, philosophy, and practice of ancient astrology, and is specialized in the Greco-Roman tradition of astrology known as Hellenistic Astrology,

- Jim Lewis (SA-UR Tau 10th trine NE-NN 3rd)
American astrologer. By the age of 30 he had lived in as many countries. He was noted for developing the "Astro-Carto-Graphy" map based on the system of Brigadier Firebrace in the '60s, with the first map hand-drawn in September 1976. In spite of a slight stutter, he was an excellent speaker, absorbing, entertaining and inspiring.

- Michael Erlewine (MO-SA-UR Tau 6th) He founded Matrix Software with his brother Stephen in 1977. They developed more than 100 packages of astrological software. He is the recipient of the Regulus Award for Professional Image, recognizing astrology at work in business and the public.

UR
- Regiomontanus (UR-SN Tau 7th)
German mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, translator, instrument maker and Catholic bishop. He studied mathematics and Ptolemy's Almagest in Latin, constructed an observatory at Nurnberg and founded a printing office. He published ephemerides for 1475-1506. Regiomontanus was noted as a reformer of the calendar, a humanist, a publisher of an ephemeris, tables for primary directions and astrological almanacs, a collector of astrological texts, author and translator of the fundamental principles of astrology.

- Dane Rudhyar (UR Scorpio)- He had a decisive influence on psychological astrology and emphasized the importance of individual personal and spiritual growth. Author of science fiction novels, painter, composer, lyricist. The main source of humanistic astrology.

NE
- Ivy Jacobson (Uranus Scorpio 4th)
Australian-American astrologer, one of the respected old-timers of the early to mid-20th century. One of the great astrologers of the 20th century, she was self-published, typesetting her own books. Ivy was perhaps best known for her horary astrology but she also wrote a homespun book 'Here and There in Astrology', a nice way to express her Neptunian aura.

- Charles Carter (NE Tau 8th) After having served in the army, he suffered from claustrophobia. Had esoteric interests while in the Theosophical society, he was a post-war pacifist and his writing reflected the ideals of the metaphysical theosophy of his time.
