Understanding the difference between aspects to the ascendant degree vs. to the domicle ruler of the first house

1
Hello forum members,

I'm confused about interpreting the ASC degree compared to the domicile ruler of the first house. I understand that there are differences between planetary and non-planetary aspects. I think my confusion comes from hearing that both the ASC degree and the domicile ruler of the first house represent the Native in the chart.

What happens when these aspects provide contradictory evidence? For example, say the Native's third house domicile ruler makes a trine to the ASC degree, but is in aversion to the domicile ruler of the first house. How might one therefore interpret the Native's relationship to their siblings?

Thank you for your help and insight into this matter!

Hello,

This is a bit complicated. However I function kind of this way:

- Position in a house: what happens (this includes aspects from other planets, dignities, house located and ruled from aspecting planets); this is mainly an active component;
- Rulerships (dignities, houses located; aspects); this tells us how things evolve, how they may end; this is the passive quality of the ruler.

Active determinations are the most important, they tell directly what happens. Passive ones, how it ends. Morin also tells us that, examining a planet in a house, the house(s) ruled give us the cause of what happens in the house a planet is posited (2nd House lord in 1st, the native is interested in possessions); the house where a ruler is located, how it ends (2nd House lord in 12th, one may eventually experience some kind of losts).

Astrologia Gallica XXI from Morin is the best source to delves in to understand how to delinate a chart, where to look for what is important and more. There few translations in English, but Baldwin's translation is prefered, from what I understand.

Thank you so much, François. This is exactly what I was looking for.

I just looked into my copy of Morin's book and it contains the information I need to fully understand the differences between the ascendant an the domicile ruler of the first house. You answered my question so eloquently I will be studying your answer too. I think I'm on the right track now, after weeks of confusion.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share your wisdom with me.

Thank you,

Heath
