Re: Baseball Series: Toronto Blue Jays @ New York Yankees

Toronto
Uranus on the cusp of the daily 4th House
Daily AS conjunct natal Pluto and trine transiting Sun

Tampa Bay
A grand trine in the 1st House involving Moon/Mercury/Jupiter
AS sesqui-quadrate Jupiter and squaring the transiting Sun

The Moon connecting to the planets of the Rays from the 1st House gives them the edge.

Advantage: Tampa Bay
Blessings!

Wrong again, the Jays won, so back to the drawing board. I went back and looked at the significators, the "assisting" planet, and the aspects they were involved in.
Game-Summary.png Game-Summary.png Viewed 43335 times 101.97 KiB
And from the above I made the following assumptions:
Assumed Rules
Baseline:
  • The heavier significator (Saturn, Jupiter, Mars) beats the lighter significator (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus)
  • The significator itself is harmed if it is applying to the square or opposition of a malefic
  • Mars square Pluto appears to help Mars if he is a significator
  • the significator or its assisting planet sextile or trine another planet appears to be of no significance
Exceptions:
  • lighter planet is Stationary Direct on game day
  • the lighter planet is conjunct or square its helping planet while the heavier planet is involved in a sextile or trine to its helping planet
  • if both are conjunct or square their helping planet, the aspect to the heavier helper is of greater assistance
General Observation
Bonatti's observation that the Moon separating from one significator applying to the other weakens the significator it is leaving appears to hold

Eleven games is not a lot but it's a start. And now for today's game
Baseball-20230923-Jays-at-Rays.png Baseball-20230923-Jays-at-Rays.png Viewed 43335 times 111.35 KiB
Jays 1st and 10th
L1 Saturn in 1 Pisces in the 1st
Moon sep trine Mercury

Tampa 7th and 4th
L7 Moon in 13 Capricorn in 12th
Moon app. trine Jupiter

Probable Outcome: Jays win

Caveat: the Moon applies to square Mars after the trine to Jupiter, don't think it will affect this game but as the Moon is also L7 it could be bolstering her

Maybe we should write a baseball book on astrological predictions.

lol...hey, we are close to a coin flip :).

It can be maddening working like this. The trouble with working with models is we both assume the models are right and the problem is between the chair and the keyboard; yet we really have no evidence that the models are correct. As you mentioned earlier, ideally we need software with a large database of games and the ability to design and test the model of our choosing. If I had the programming chops and were 30 or 40 years younger I might attempt it but alas I have neither and so muddle on as best I can telling myself that, even if I did have the programming chops and the time, I would still need to manually work out the basic model and test it before putting in all the effort required to programme it and, at the least, I'm forcing myself to think about planetary strength rules: why is something a rule? how is it likely to have arisen? to what branch of astrology does the rule apply? etc. etc.

And really, to make any system for picking baseball game winners viable you need to be over, at the least, 70% accurate, as Lee Lehman pointed out in her article and a check of the stats on how often favourites win implies.

And, of course, I also like to remind myself that even the best batters only average .300 :)
Happy gaming.

Aaarrrggghhh! Knew that Mars could bite me yesterday. Jays lost 6-7 to a walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th after managing to overcome an 0-5 deficit to take the lead in the 8th. Sigh. Two interesting point as to the timing of the game:
(1) the Jays manage to go from 0-5 to 4-5 during the 6th when Venus (L4=Rays 10th) conjuncts Uranus' square at roughly 5:54
(2) Saturn (L1) conjuncted the Moon (L7) at roughly 7:22pm, the game ending single was hit at 7:18pm.

On to today's game which has a 1:10 PM EDT start.
Baseball-20230924-Jays-at-Rays.png Baseball-20230924-Jays-at-Rays.png Viewed 43317 times 109.71 KiB
Jays 1st and 10th
L1 Jupiter 14 Taurus in the 5th
Moon sep. sextile Neptune
Jupiter applying to no one

Tampa Rays 7th and 4th
L7 Mercury 13 Virgo in the 9th
Moon app. conjunct Pluto
Mercury applying to trine Jupiter (L1)

Probable Outcome: Tampa wins as Mercury is being given more help (conjunct Pluto) and rules the Jays 10th (honor). And Pluto will conjunct the Asc at around the 2hr 45min mark or roughly 3:55pm.

Caveat: The honor of each is in the other's hands, Virgo ruled by L7 on Jays 10th, Pisces ruled by L1 on Rays 10th (4th) which may mean whoever is more error prone loses.

Thanks for the link Janegca.
I agree with you. Models are models for what they are. A groundwork to start up with.
Our mind sees and analyzes many things and decides which one will predominate.
Like today, I see so many aspects to the daily AS of the Jays that the longer the game, the more chances they have of winning.
Because the Moon applies to their AS.
In the system of Mason, I have not seen enough evidence for the POF and the Vertex. So they went down in the list.
What I am left with are the planets angular and the Moon.
If for example, there is a Venus-Jupiter square in the sky but none of them rules or aspects the Angles, they should be disregarded as they will not concern the team. With that in mind, I am ready to flip the coin.
Hey! I am now 6/10 like you were. And what I like about our little run is that we put our expertise (?!!) to the test.
Good luck for today!
Blessings!

Got it wrong again, Jays won 9-5. It appears the Moon giving Pluto by conjunction as a helper is neutral. The Jays pretty much clinched it in the top of the 9th with Bichette and Vladdy hitting back to back home runs when the Moon conjuncted the Asc around 3:49. The Pluto conjunction to the Asc seemed to be of more help to the Jays, marking the Jays pitcher, Hicks, coming to the mound, he gave up a walk but nothing more.

No game tomorrow. Jays back home Monday for 3 against the Yankees followed by a day off and another 3 against Tampa.

I am now 6/13 or 46% - slightly worse than a coin flip.

Congrats Ouranos, Jays won :)

Yes, it does seem like a battle to pick out what is really prominent in the chart, especially as the event is only around 3hrs long. Like you, I'm trying to focus on the angles and partile aspects that effect, primarily, the 1st and L1 or the 7th and L7.

You are showing greater expertise at coin flipping than am I...lol

Happy flipping!

Janegca,

In a post you mentioned 'timing events to planet's crossing the angles using the diurnal motion and giving 4 minutes to each degree.' as mentioned by Doane and Zain.
Have you found the 4 minutes to be more accurate than the ascension time of the planets? I saw that you also used the OA on Astro-seek.

On a side note, you might be interested by a research of Diane Sabel

The 4' has been working pretty well, things are usually within a few minutes, so haven't bothered trying to get things exact with the OA
