On page 436 of Christian Astrology, William Lilly shares a case related to terrible dreams.
I'll briefly recount his analysis:

Jupiter and Saturn rule the 9th house and both are in the 12th house, forming a square aspect with the 9th house cusp.

Lilly mentions that, according to other authors, when significators are in the 12th house, it signifies that dreams are not real, and the querent is merely worried about mundane matters.

In his judgment, Mars is the only planet in an angular house, and it best represents the cause of dreaming, be it good or bad. Observing that Mars is the ruler of the 1st house and the dispositor of the Lot of Fortune, he informs the querent that there may be two reasons for the dream. First, because Mars is the dispositor of the Lot of Fortune, the querent is so very concerned about financial resources and wealth, that losing the enjoyment of nocturnal activities provided by the Creator to living beings. Second, because Saturn rules the 10th house – career and social status – and Saturn afflicts the 9th house ruler Jupiter, or at least hinders it, he tell the querent that they may have lost some advantages in their position in the parliament and are now very worried about how to maintain their status. However, due to the sextile between Mars and Jupiter, he assure the querent that they won't lose their position, just some financial loss. Subsequently, it was proven that Lilly's prediction was accurate.

I suddenly dreamt of my grandfather, a rare occurrence for me.

In the dream, he was the only one at home (while in reality, he is currently living in a hospital and at the age of 92 at that time ).

I knocked on the door, and he opened it, asking me how I had returned. (I am in Taiwan, and he is in Changsha, China; we are not in the same location.)

I asked him what he was doing and why he wasn't watching TV. (He enjoys watching news on China Central Television, being very interested in current affairs. Meanwhile, I like watching an animated series called 'Chibi Maruko-chan' during the same time slot, causing occasional disagreements between us as I miss my preferred TV program.)

However, this time, he said he didn't want to watch anymore. He wanted some time alone, sitting on a bamboo lounge chair.

But when I turned around to look, the lounge chair was completely empty.

Then I woke up, and I cast this horary chart to understand what the dream foretells.

The ruler of the 9th house, Jupiter, is positioned in the 7th house, forming a sextile aspect to the cusp of the 9th. Could this dream possibly be a prophetic one, foreseeing something significant?

I see the Sun, the significator of my grandfather (he is my mother's father, hence the ruler of the 1st house), positioned at the contra-antiscia of Mars. Saturn governs the 6th , 7th and 8th houses, and it is very close to the angles of the chart.

Therefore, I speculate that when Mars and Saturn form a hard aspect, it could be a precarious time for my grandfather.

My mother's message:

He passed away on September 9, 2022, at 2:40 am in a hospital in Changsha, China.

Due to the pandemic, I couldn't travel back to Changsha, missing the chance to bid my grandfather a final farewell.

Dream of a Black Puppy

In my dream, I went to the outer perimeter of my neighbor's yard, and discovered a nest of black kittens (approximately three to four black kittens) and a black puppy.

I was delighted to see the black kittens, but accidentally woke them up. The kittens seemed to ignore me, but they weren't annoyed because they were disturbed.

The black puppy next to them happily ran towards me.

I held the little black dog, stroking its fur. It was quiet, and being with it felt warm and cozy.

I felt like I slowly fell asleep near the fence of my neighbor's yard.

When I came to my senses, I found myself lying in my own bed.

Because the dream felt so real, I wanted to record it.

I immediately asked my husband what time it was, and he replied that it was exactly 1:00 PM. I asked three times, and he answered three times.
Although the ruling planet of the 9th house, Jupiter, is in the 1st house, there is no aspect with the 9th house. Therefore, I feel that this dream is not a premonition but may belong to a subconscious replay of consciousness.

Interestingly, the ruling planet of the 6th house, Mercury, and the ruling planet of the 1st house, Mars, fall in the 9th house. Both Mercury and Mars are dogs, especially Mercury representing domesticated dogs, according to al-Biruni (p. 78, The Book of Rulerships, Dr. J. Lee Lehman, Ph.D.).

I also recalled encountering several black goats yesterday during an outing. I had some friendly conversation with the goats.

I tried to find the appearance of the black puppy I dreamt of on the internet and found a picture that almost matched the one in my dream.

I have not considered incorporating TNPs into the analysis of the horary at the moment because I find William Lilly's techniques to be well-established and effective.

I initially thought that Lilly's mention of nighttime pleasures referred to hiring a prostitute, LOL. However, upon further reflection, I believe Lilly was actually referring to a good night's sleep. This, for me, is an interesting psychological phenomenon. Why did my initial reaction lean towards associating nighttime pleasures with hiring a prostitute when I learned that the Querent is male?
