it is interesting to me how propaganda from western sources is completely fine, but propaganda from russia - heaven forbid! anyway... i want to talk about carlsons chart which is why i am here.. what do i see astrologically?

cancer rising with the moon in taurus - still under the beams of the sun and in a diurnal chart.. moon and sun in taurus - new moon chart essentially and why you see the pof next to the ascendant) are in opposition by sign to neptune and mars, but opposition by degree with neptune.. sun at 2, moon at 6 and neptune at 4 in the opposite sign scorpio..

saturn is the planet that rises before the sun, and is in aries in the 10th house.. generally people with saturn in the 10th always seem to work towards a high position in their career.. not always, but i see this so often, i have to pay attention to this.. wikipedia describes him as an american conservative political commentator... the 3 points - sun, moon and ascendant are all in conservative signs - taurus and cancer.. in fact many planets are in the earth or water signs, with only saturn and pluto in the fire signs.. he also has a preponderance of planets in the fixed signs - 5 in taurus/scorpio.... north node in the 9th sign pisces might account some for the emphasis on political interest.. journalism, reporting and commentary - could fit with the jupiter/uranus/south node combo in conjunction in the 3rd sign from the ascendant - virgo... it might imply he is more outspoken then not too as i tend to think of a third house emphasis with these 2 planets as more that way... but maybe it has more to do with mercury/moon in the 11th sign from the ascendant - taurus.. then again it is a fairly close opposition between mercury and mars in this chart and appears as a mundane aspect opposition using morinus's page for rise/set/mc/ic times in the chart shown immediately below.. i suppose i would go with this mars-mercury pattern indicating the forceful communication style of his career more then my first two observations...



added from solar fire - this shows how mars-mercury have not been brought closer in the mundane aspect data..


perhaps this opposition with the 12/3 house ruler mercury and mars the 10/5 house ruler explains more then i realize here.. on the one hand you have a person with a career in the political sphere - 9th is mostly how i think of this, but it could include all the cadent houses - 12/6/ and most notably the 3rd after the 9th... this opposition between mercury and mars will certainly be someone who is frank and deliberate or even downright aggressive in their communication style, especially when challenged.. at any rate - mercury-mars opp is in a 2-3 degrees of separation so it is fairly close by degree and must explain a good element of his personality and presentation...

with the exception of mars, all the personal planets are above the horizon.. with the exception of saturn - all outer planets are below the horizon.. it seems to me this set up of the of mars in the outer planet half of the chart, and saturn in the inner planet field might contribute to his more conservative leanings... it would be like having saturn conjunction the inner planets in a very broad way.. mars on the other hand becomes the malefic for a diurnal chart and is very strong in the sign scorpio and in the 5th house..

lets look at the transits here.. jupiter and uranus are in aries - the 10th house area of his chart implying someone who continues to expand their career in a more independent and confident manner.. i believe he has been kicked around some the past few years and let go from some network only to recreate himself in a more independent manner.. i can't remember who bought him out to try to keep him silent, but i am going on memory here.. saturn is also moving up in his chart, presently in the 8th house, in a square to his mercury, and moving towards really highlighting this mercury/mars opposition found in his chart.. at the same time mars transit has just recently moved into his 7th house, joining the slow moving pluto with mercury... in fact this so called secret meeting he appears to have been planning for some time with the interview with putin coincides with the top secret mercury-pluto conjunction having just happened on feb 5th... this duo by transit would have been applying to saturn in the 10th, and of course pluto continues to apply to his 10th house saturn for the next year or more.. this is a challenging transit where hard work can pay off.. the new moon coming up soon, will be on the 9th and lands in his 7th house... they say the 7th is the house connected to open enemies and he appears to be making a few more that he didn't previously have! below is a biwheel with transits for today on the outside and his natal on the inside...



i suppose i can consider the solar return and the profections next.. i am stopping here for the moment..

presently carlson is in a capricorn profected year, so saturn has greater relevance in the solar return chart.. this is what i picked up from reading all those ben dykes books, and it has also been supported by ks charak in his books on varshaphala... i have to read those books of charaks again as there is a lot of valuable insights for interpreting solar return charts that i haven't seen anywhere else... however, it seems to me that what the indian astrologers do is very similar to what the arabic astrologers did back in the time of abu mashar and way back then..

carlsons present solar return is good until his birthdate in may of 24.. he is presently under the influence of the 2023 solar return.. it looks like the chart below when put in sidereal zodiac..



as you can see in the chart above, the position of saturn is prominent in the 10th house and in a sign it rules - aquarius - 12 degrees.. it is in a wide square to sun ( at 2 taurus), and a closer square to ascendant degree ( 5 taurus 07... further to this, the saturn position in the 10th sign/house replicated saturns position in his natal chart, albeit, it is not in an easy sign by birth - aries.. however, saturn is in turn ruled by mars in scorpio, so perhaps this offsets some of the negative of saturns sign position in the natal chart.. this year has been a year of greater recognition for him, without a doubt.. whether he is being vilified by some or seen as an advocate for greater freedom of speech and action, seems to be dependent on one's political outlook. either way, he is a polarizing figure in a greatly polarized world today...

the solar return has sun conjunction the ascendant, all planets in the eastern hemisphere contained within the opposition of pluto mars which is in the area of the midheaven axis, and as it happens, this mars-pluto opposition lines up fairly closely with his natal ascendant/desc axis... for a view on this, below is the biwheel with his chart on the inside and the solar return for 2023 on the outside..



the other obvious and significant connection between the charts is how the 2023 solar return ascendant lands exactly on carlsons exalted moon in taurus - both at 6 degrees.. that he has gotten a huge load of publicity for his interview with putin and greater recognition is without doubt here.. the solar return has moon-jupiter-rahu conjunction as well, so again - greater confidence in his intuitive instincts... natally moon rules the cancer ascendant while jupiter rules the 9th house of long distance travel, philosophy, politics and etc..

maybe i can look at his 2024 solar return closer to the time...

Have you already checked his next precessed lunar return chart (Feb 16th 2024)? Sun on Mc, Moon exactly trine Venus (and Pluto and Mars) , LR rahu on natal Venus in the natal 10th. LR MC and Sun square his Sun and Moon in Taurus on fixed star Algol (He should be very careful not to ' lose his head'. Note he has his natal Uranus exactly on the Aries Point (well, tropically speaking...), LR Asc/Desc align with natal 6th/12th.

BTW, his most recent unprecessed lunar return (20 Jan 2024) has Ketu on the Mc, Venus rising and an exact Sun/Pluto conjunction. The IC for that retrun chart is at the exact degree of the April 8th 2024 solar eclipse, and if you relocate it to Moscow, the exact Sun/Pluto conjunction is smack on the relocated descendant, while Neptune is at the MC. How's that for 'meeting with a dictator'?

Relocating Tucker Carlson's natal chart to Moscow and putting it around the LR chart is even more fun.

i want to go back to the topic of the 2023 solar return which is still presently active... a suggestion was made by ks charak that in fact it is wise to consider the surrounding solar returns, as opposed to just one solar return, but for the time being i am going to stay focused on the may 2023 solar return in sidereal which i have again shared immediately below...



i want to repeat or clarify some of my understanding here... when considering the solar return, it is important to consider where the ascendant in the 2023 profection chart lands in this sr chart.. the profection ascendant for may 2023 lands in the sign capricorn which falls in the 9th house of the solar return chart.. according to charak when the profected ascendant lands in the 9, 10th or 11th houses of the solar return chart it is said auspicious results come out of this.. the ruler of the profected ascendant is also considered - saturn.. in this example, saturn in the solar return chart lands in the 10th whole sign house which is also considered fortuitous.. here is a brief description given by charak in his book 'predictive techniques in varshaphala'... if the profection ascendant ( called the muntha in indian astrology) lands in the 9th - pious deeds, fame and fortune, fruitful journey.. if the profected lord lands in the 10th house - rise in status, fulfillment of desires, favours from ruler.. these are interesting descriptions considering carlsons trip to russia and being able to garner an interview with russias leader..

here are some other considerations cited in charaks book for finding the 'lord of the year'.. there are 5 considerations for this and it depends on the strength of these 5 considerations, which planet gets to be the lord of the year.
1 - profected ascendant lord ( muntha lord) - saturn here
2 - lord of the ascendant in the natal chart - moon in taurus here
3 - lord of the ascendant in the annual chart - moon in aries here
4 - lord of the ascendant based of diural or nocturnal chart - diurnal chart.. with taurus rising - venus here
5 - lord of the sun in the annual chart - sun - which again brings us to venus.

the strongest lord is considered to be the ruler of the year.. there are a set of criteria for going into deciding all this - found on page 38/39 of charaks book feb 2011 edition... a consideration for aspects from these planets to the ascendant in the solar return ( annual chart) is emphasized.. given this important requirement we can rule out moon in the 12th, venus in the 2nd and are left with saturn in the 10th making a square to the ascendant..

as it happens the dasa period for carlson is presently saturn from 2022 main and sub period... it doesn't change until 2025 when mercury becomes the sublord of the period.. saturn is elevated in carlsons chart which is considered favourable, and it is a diurnal chart where mars is the greater malefic.. saturn however is in the sign aries which is not considered as good... however, it is ruled by mars in scorpio which offsets this some.. i would expect a mixed result as a consequence of this, but for the present solar return based on the set up, overall i think this is a very favourable year for carlson..

now, i have decided to add another angle to all this by considering the transits to the solar return chart.. this biwheel which i can get off solar fire is shown with his natal chart on the inside and the transits to feb 9th, 2024 on the outside.. the transits are to noon moscow..



the emphasis of the transits to the 2023 solar return chart for the time of carlsons interview with putin on feb 9th emphasize the 9th house, with transit mercury very close to the midheaven degree at 14 capricorn... it is essentially a new moon on feb 9th noon in moscow.. i don't know the actual time of the interview, but the new moon at approx 26 capricorn squares onto the uranus position in the solar return chart..

i have some more to comment on with regard to the position of the nodal axis in the 2023 solar return and the close proximity of the moon-jupiter conjunction to rahu in the solar return chart, but i will save my commentary on this for another time..

I will look more closely at the lunar return charts and offer my comments when I have time.
As far as I understand both precessed and non-precessed return charts offer valid information, but from different perspectives.

Just a quick question: Why did you choose to set the transits-to-solar-return chart at noon Moscow?
According to Tucker Carlson, the meeting started around 7PM Moscow.

BTW, which one of Ben Dykes' books would you recommend to start with? I have three of his books, discussing Horary and Electional Astrology.

i am not going to discount anything, but i continue to lean toward the use of sidereal zodiac which will result in different solar or lunar return data.. i actually believe it is possible both can work! but, i continue to lean towards using the sidereal charts which means all the charts are already 'precessed'.. i base this on my own observations on my own chart and life.. astrology is so subjective, it is hard to see it in an objective manner, but i try.. i am happy to offer my thoughts on the lunar return charts, but i will hold off for now.

regarding the book i would recommend from ben dykes on the topic of solar returns - it used to be his latin translation book 3 " Persian Nativities 111: Solar Returns - Abu Ma'shar's On the Revolutions of the Years of Nativities" - long title - that is on the front of the book, but now i think it is "Persian Nativities 1V: Abu Ma'shar On the Revolutions of the Years of Nativities" which came out a few years ago and is his translation from arabic which contains more useful information in it... i haven't read it yet, but i bought it last week.. there is a video on this with chris brennan interviewing ben dykes about the book.. here is the link - https://theastrologypodcast.com/2019/08 ... min-dykes/

regarding my choice of noon in the moscow chart - i didn't know what time the interview was, so thanks for telling me it was 7pm local! it isn't going to change much, but here is a stand alone chart for the carlson - putin interview for 7pm moscow feb 9th - down below... there seems to be some discrepancies with morinus and solar fire data here..



saturn is right on the descendant and i think this represents putin... it is a 'fateful' type chart if you think of the dominance of the western hemisphere with all the planets contained within this sphere.. carlson would be sun in the late degrees of capricorn - leo ascendant) and squared onto uranus in the 9th - his interview with the foreign leader of russia.. doing a comparison of the event chart to his solar return, the transiting jupiter-mercury square very close to the degree of the midheaven in the 2023 solar return is fitting.. in a way some have said he was unprepared for putins response to his questions which would be fitting for a transiting mercury-jupiter square, but then maybe some will say putin went off on a tangent by discussing the history for the first 1/2 hour... either way - this jupiter-mercury square at the time of the interview is fitting and that it hits on the midheaven in his 2023 solar return makes sense symbolically.. i will try to comment later on the topic of 12th house set up of rahu- moon - jupiter in aries when i get a moment later today.. cheers.

addendum - i just noticed that solar fire biwheel chart with tuckers 2023 solar return and transits to moscow i put to 10 pm moscow, so that explains some of the discrepencies in morinus and solar fire.. i thought did the chart for 12 noon, but i see it is 10 pm that i actually used..

James_m, just a quick note. The interview was shot on Feb the 6th 2027 around 7 pm, not on the 9th. Saturn is still on the Descendant and the MC on Carlson's natal Sun and Moon. It was hard to read the data on the Solar fire event chart.

the mercury-jupiter square is not as pronounced, but still jupiter in this transit chart is very close to the midheaven degree in his 2023 solar return chart.. much of the chart is much the same - western hemisphere emphasis, but the moon is in a better place in this chart - more balsamic phase - 45 degree aspect to the sun in fact...

i want to come back to the topic of the nodal axis in the 2023 solar return chart for tucker carlson.. the idea of how one would interpret the nodes role in astrology is approached differently by others.. perhaps the most obvious breakdown on this is that generally in indian astrology the nodes - rahu - north node and ketu - south node are viewed as malefic in nature... in western astrology, or what i have been exposed to in this, the north node can take on positive connotations materially anyway, while the south node is generally viewed as negative - loss, and etc - unless one is focused on spiritual matters where it might be interpreted more favourably.

the idea of the north node or rahu being connected to the head of the snake or dragon, and the south node/ketu being associated with the tail is a part of the mythology around the nature of the nodal axis.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouroboros

judith hill has a fair amount to say about the nodes.. she has a few books on this - one specifically dedicated to the nodes which i think is very good and another one on eclipses which is good too, while more focused on whether the eclipse is focused on the north or south node.. she makes a general comment about the north node being a symbol for the tide coming in while the south node is the tide going out.. she has a background in indian and western astrology.. she is an interesting source for her views on all of this which i would describe as a synthesis ( of indian and western astrology) essentially.. for the most part she views the north node favourably, especially if the focus is on the material... this is another simplistic breakdown - north - more worldly, ambitious, and focused on achievement, while the south node is more about letting go, spiritual focus, karmic - and those kinds of words that go with that type of terrain...

now why i wanted to make this post is in dr. ks charaks book - predictive techniques in varshaphala he offers a more nuanced approach which i skipped over the first time i read this book - about 2-3 years ago, but i thought it was interesting reading it again a week or so ago.. now it could be said that charak is into a certain branch of indian astrology - tajika ( which martin gansten specializes in as memory serves https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tajika_Jyotish) and that tajika adopts some of the ideas that one would associate more with western astrology... that said and regardless of this, or my limited understanding of the history on this, the concept charak suggests with regard to interpreting the nodes is interesting and i want to discuss it here..

essentially charak suggests that planets in the mouth of rahu have a positive result in the solar return chart.. this is the set up in carlsons 2023 solar return.. so first i will explain what is and isn't in the mouth of rahu.. the nodes move backwards thru the signs.. in the 23 solar return for carlson the position of rahu/ true north node is 9 aries 54 approx.. jupiter and the moon are at 6 aries -in the mouth of rahu.. on the other hand - mercury is at approx 12 degrees aries and would be considered in an unfavouable position in connection with rahu/north node - according to the understanding charak is sharing in this book... generally he expresses the idea that any planets in the area of ketu/south node are positioned unfavourably.. see page 24/25 of his book mentioned above.. there are other considerations to all this, such as where the profection lands, or the profection lord as well..



now another dimension to all of this focus on the nodal axis is the idea of the role the rulers of the nodes by sign play in all this.. in carlsons chart - the transiting north node is ruled by mars.. mars in the solar return chart is in cancer, as opposed to its position in the natal chart - scorpio.. i am not sure how this would be viewed, but generally i tend to think the natal chart would dominate the way rahu/north node is interpreted here.. either way, rahu/north node is in the 12th house which would make one think this is unfavourable as it strengthens and puts in focus the 12th house..

my favourite book on the nodes is called 'the rahu ketu experience' by prash trivedi... he gives great insights into interpreting the nodal axis and it is very nuanced and not a cut and dried sort of thing.. but, he doesn't focus on transiting nodal axis, so much as delineations with placement of the axis in natal charts.. but regardless of this one comment he makes which i will share is that even a very evolved soul has difficulty handling this position ( natally anyway)... he mentions the importance of staying away from drugs, intoxicants and etc as being most important.. immersing oneself in the sea of illusions could happen religiously,politically and etc too.. he suggests not following any of it blindly. ''rahu in the 12th also gives some foreign connection relating to the significance of its dispositor or the planets associated with it".. in indian astrology the 12th house is connected to foreign countries - perhaps living in a foreign country, or working in a foreign country.. of course some of this fits directly with carlson at present having gone to russia in a work related matter too.. but again - the transit nodal axis would be different then an interpretation of the natal nodal axis.. to reiterate - carlsons natal nodal axis is rahu in the 9th whole sign house and ketu in the 3rd house sign house - using sidereal zodiac..

so how much of what is in the solar return could have been predicted beforehand?? hard to know!! either way, as an exercise on understanding the astrology better, i have enjoyed looking at all this and hopefully some others have benefited from my sharing it all..

since i continue to discuss this 2023 solar return, i thought i would share the chart again.. here is is in sidereal..



the other part of my thinking on the position of the nodal axis and conjunction to moon/jupiter is this.. jupiter rules the 6/9 houses.. so in a sense if jupiter being in the mouth is considered favourable here, it would be favourable with regard to actions associated with the 6/9th house... also the fact jupiter is in the 12th - would imply jupiter is not able to act in the same way as it might in the first.. one positive is carlson may have some behind the scene support from all of this, although i wouldn't think this would mean only russia support.. the other consideration is moon in the mouth of rahu would imply a strengtening of 3rd house matters, so perhaps this message has gotten thru a lot more convincingly then it might have otherwise?? or? again though - moon is in the 12th, so perhaps it has been stymied too in some way shape or form?? i suppose one can say this about pretty well everything - glass half full verses glass half empty... well these were some additional thoughts i wanted to add to my previous commentary on the interpretation of these planets jupiter and moon in close proximity to rahu/north node... if we are to interpret mercury in a negative context here - it rules the 2nd/5th houses - perhaps the activities associated with these houses are damaged in some manner? loss of finances? maybe it cost a lot to do this trip and the financial payback is a long time, or not coming? as a creative 5th house act, his role as an interviewer was diminished because he was unprepared for the response to his questions from putin and out of his depth with regard to the history and etc. etc.?? all speculation on my part..
