I believe some horary astrologers use them as natural significators in relationships horaries. Then, other Astrologers would use the chart's 1st and 7th houses for the person in question and the question (your daughter and her ex) . Here, too, they are Venus and Mars, as rulers of the 1st and 7th.

Anyway, your own analysis and conclusion were correct.

This a very straight ahead chart. There is little confusion here. Sticking with the 5th/11th as your daughter and her boyfriend there for Sun and Saturn.
Sun applies to Saturn and this is supported by the Moon's translation from her separating trine with the Sun now applying to Saturn... And then the Moon will carry them both to Jupiter (that is the cherry on top).

Don't get stuck on deciding about days, months etc
Get your symbolic time first (Example 8 degrees between Sun and Saturn)
Check in the ephemeris 8 days, 8 weeks, 8 months and see what happens with your significators by transit.
Make your decision from the transits. For example, at the end of the month, the Sun meets Saturn. Does it make sense? Use your intuition and what the person is telling you.
