Astrologers are familiar with Mercury retrograde as it happens approximately 3 times a year.
When it stations, the energy intensifies sometimes to a crisis proportion.
Not the best time to start a new project for your energy has shifted and the mental process is more internalized.

"Another interesting Mercury retrograde story concerns a married client of mine who decided with her husband for financial reasons to get a divorce. Her husband was going to lose all of their assets, so he decided to put everything in her name and they would then divorce 'temporarily' so their assets would be protected. This decision and the divorce both took place while Mercury was retrograde. He did not really intend for them to stay divorced. However, after six months of living alone, she decided that she liked being single and did not want to remarry him. But they had gotten a quick divorce in a foreign country and later found out that it was not legal in the United States. This is a perfect example of miscommunication, people changing their minds, and contracts needing to be redone during Mercury retrograde."

As an astrologer, you may find that you no longer want to counsel, lecture or teach but to do research or even with Venus in the picture, to start creating beauty around yourself or getting together with a very few individuals, friends or family, a selected 'few'.

When I look up at a planet stationing, I usually check the midpoints with the other planets in the chart (hard aspects only) and see if any planet is in the picture.
But why focus on the midpoints?
Because the standstill of a planet will also make the midpoints of that planet stop, like pressing on a particular area of the chart. At the same time, most of what you will read on the retrogradation of a planet will focus on the major aspects the planet sends or receives. But if you look at the midpoints, you will incorporate the whole chart and this will help you understand why things are happening in your life that are not discernible if you only concentrate on the aspects the planet sends or receives.

Here is a sample, at first glance.

1) The station of Mercury was conjunct Venus in square to Admetos.
Admetos is similar to Saturn as it signifies greatest hindrance, inhibition, separation, death or standstill, reduction and compression. Behind Admetos, there is a need to go back to the origin or something in our life but the task may appear to be too big to handle. Not necessarily good or bad but to search within ourself a different approach.
3-4-5 Mutable - 18-19-20 Cardinal

2) Mercury/Saturn = Mars
Quarrel or separation especially if it involves a travel.
I have found this one interesting during the Olympics as they argued over a woman boxer from Algeria whom they said had a level of testerone too high to be a 'real woman'. Gemini/Virgo mutable after all, can you be both or do you have to choose.
10-11-12 Mutable - 25-26-27 Cardinal

3) Mercury/Uranus = Kronos
Kronos stands for above average, masterful in a skill. Superior. And Mercury/Uranus is fast.
There were 31 world records broken overall with the highest percentage (39%) arriving in the velodrome at the Olympics.
14-15-16 Cancer - 0-1 Virgo
Great Britain's Katy Marchant, Sophie Capewell and Emma Finucane were responsible for three of those on the way to gold in the women's team sprint.
Katy Marchant has Jupiter/Vulcanus (successful power) touched by this midpoint
Sophie Capewell with the midpoint Mars/Jupiter (successful action).
Emma Finucane with potentially Sun/Moon midpoint. No birth time but most likely probable.

4) Mercury/Cupido = Apollon
Big social gatherings. Of importance here because the midpoint is also Retrograde.
A feast during the Olympics between the nations of the world.
