Re: Trump born at 9.51 am according to well respected astrologer.

James,
In all the astrologers listed by Mark, at least those I know by their websites or writings, most are very knowledgeable.
It all comes down to getting a good start with the right chart.
I also prefer the natal Solar Return.
And yes, the Mars in Trump's chart is pretty much a 1st House Mars... as what has been shown extensively by Gauquelin studies. The peak is slighty behind the Angles. And by Right Ascension, Mars is at 29 Leo 26!
I also wrote to Alphee Lavoie to see how he based his interpretation of Trump's chart. Or what parts of his toolbox he used.

Ouranos
Blessings!

Trump was a flamboyant and notorious figure in the 1970s and 1980s, prompting many astrologers to look at his chart. He met his first wife Ivanna in 1976 when she was in New York City with a group of models. On April 9, 1977, the couple married at Marble Collegiate Church in a wedding officiated by none other than the famous preacher Norman Vincent Peale. In those days, astrologers were using a birth time of 9:51 AM, presumably obstained from Trump's mother by astrologer Lynna Palmer. For example, Marc Penfield uses the 9:51 AM chart in his 1996 book on solar returns.

Lynne (bron on December 14, 1932) had written a number of booklets popularizing astrology and was a frequent guest speaker on the topic. She began to study astrology at age 25 in 1957 and would have cast Trump's chart after that date. In the absence of computers for casting charts, Lynne would have had to calculate charts by hand, which involved as a first step converting the birth time to Standard Time so that one could find the true local time, UT, and finally the sidereal time of birth. It was common for astrologers to annotate the chart with the standard time to be consistent and avoid confusion in the future. Thus, it is quite possible, even likely, that Lynn annotated Trump's chart with the date, place, and Standard Time (9:51 AM with EST understood) of birth.

A future astrologer, who came to the field without learning how to cast a chart by hand, could easily mistake 9:51 AM as indicating daylight time (EDT). The difference between 9:54 AM and 9:51 AM could simply be a typo, or a confusion on Trump's mother's part or on Lynne's part. It could also be a rectification on Lynne's part. Some astrology teachers of that period would substract a couple minutes from the official birth time, on the theory that it took a bit of time after the delivery for the doctor or nurse to record the time of birth in the chart. For example, Wynn in his instructions to students in 1935 wrote, "Most births are earlier thant the moment remembered by witnesses afterwards." Using the example of Fredric March, whose recorded birth time is 9:00 AM on August 31, 1989, Wynn states, "I estimate that Mr. March was born at 8:55 AM standard time at Racine, Wis." (Note that he always converted the birth time to standard time.)

Added 28 Oct 2024: 'Ouranos commented: Lynne Palmer, in ABC Chart Erection has a Line where she says...(p.193) "when the birth was timed by LMT". '
If Lynne Palmer routinely converted 10:54 EDT to LMT, she would have noted that the chart was cast for 9:54 AM and perhaps omitted the time zone, assuming that LMT was understood. If she followed the instructions of Wynn's "Guide to Modern Astrology" (first published in 1932), she would have subtracted a few minutes from the witnessed birth time (10:54 AM EDT) to derive an actual birth time estimate of of about 9:51 AM (LMT), which would give an Ascendant of 28 Leo 26' with natal Mars closely conjunct at 26 Leo 46' (an orb of only 01 d 46'), giving a strong Mars in Leo stamp on the personality. Or, noticing Trump's strong Mars influence, she might have rectified the time to place Mars within 2 degrees of the Ascendant. On the other hand, 9:51 AM was understood to be EDT and the Asc for this time is 17 Leo 36', whereas the Asc for 9:51 AM LMT is 28 Leo 26'.
