Most, if not all astrology, is symbolic rather than a construction based on 'facts' otherwise we'd have some members born under the sign 'Ophiuchus'. However we prefer to have 12 signs rather than 13 symbolically due to the number 12 representing completion, harmony, and balance hence possessing a qualitative value rather than a quantitative value purely based on measurement. Why do we measure our births through the cutting of the umbilical cord? It's nothing if not a symbolic act.

Primarily though the reasons for the use of a Greenwich chart - both now and in the past are based on ..like so many things in astrology - it just simply works! And if it didn't then no-one would use it and maybe I'd use the Great Pyramid like one of the forum members, which may also work equally well.

And if it doesn't then we probably won't use it and it languishes on the vine so to speak.

We have popping up tediously in the news an assortment of would be macho men such as minor TV star Gregg Wallace, shy and retiring Elon Musk bearing gifts to fellow wall flower Nigel Farage and to keep it balanced the oafish Hunter Biden plus Dad is back in the news again.

So there you are, further examples welcome of course and if you think this post is a load of tosh blame Ouranos and Val Evans...I'm just the messenger boy.

This is quite interesting, again using the chart for the week popularised by Val Evans, to put this new (??) idea through its paces I looked at the weekly chart for Seoul, South Korea as its in the news today.

Straight away we see the leader (MC) effectively 'stuck' by its saturnian conjunction to Admetos.

Moon conjunct IC - The people are not only against their Presidential Leader but are downright abusive of him and intent on kicking him out of office (conjunct asteroid ' Toro' (the use of force to get your own way).

Mars/Vulcanus is in the 11th house of Parliament naturally.

you mention 'much of astrology is symbolic'.... the idea that some of it is man made is where i draw a line... i think it's important to make this distinction...

you mention a 13th sign... what is the basis for the 12 signs? it is associated with the number of new/full moons in the year as i understand it... maybe that is a coincidence, but we have 12 months in the year and i do think it's connected to the moon cycle.. obviously it's not perfect.... it involves mathematics... we have a circle - 360 degrees which is supposed to represent the days of the year 365 approx.. nothing is perfect.. weeks of the month are like phases of the moon - again, not perfect...

so the idea of separating what is symbolic, verses what is man made is important i think... to go back to the idea of an arbitrary place to put 0 longitude - there is nothing celestial about this.. it is completely man made and arbitrary.. 0 longitude could have been put anywhere on the globe.... that's all..

To use my most recent use astrologically here is the 'World Chart' for the timing of Declaration of Martial Law in South Korea with Pluto (power struggle) directly on 11th house cusp (Parliament). The World chart tends to show the broad brush, bigger picture with these international events so I'd use Seoul chart for greater detail.

You should try it one of these days, James, you'll get lots of practice, there are plenty more examples with every international breaking news story.

i was thinking about this longitude, latitude concept some more... i can see 0 latitude as having more relevance then 0 longitude.. maybe you want to do your world charts with 0 longitude instead?? you see i believe 0 latitude is the approx middle point between the north and south pole!! that would have ''terrestrial" merit! also, i am sure santa claus would approve!!

i am reminded of a saying ' we see what we want to see ' and this certainly applies to astrology as the last 2024 usa election shows!!! but do continue... who am i to argue with a man convinced of the merits of their charts, astrology, hypothetical s, or what have you??

Well it's not really me per se as the majority of astrologers so it's certainly not so much a 'whim' as you suggest as standard practice. And it's very easy to investigate these charts and as I say if they don't work don't use them and if they do then go ahead.

Moving on here's a little factoid on Trumps Solar Return.

The MC at 7.49 Gemini is tightly conjunct asteroid Lachesis at 7'08 Gemini interpreted thus -

I just thought that was interesting taking in the assassination attempt etc...and on looking up that fateful day of the bloodied ear I find that Lachesis is conjunct Trump's Sun-Node-Uranus in 10th.

Well rebel and terrorist aren't mutually exclusive, in fact oddly enough it's similar to your point about symbolic v manmade which also falls under this category, namely that they fall under both categories and can easily be a multiplicity of things rather than a stark black or white choice.

In this case I happen to agree to an extent that the place is likely to turn into something of a tinder box but there is little positive to be said about Assad either. I have the feeling we are entering a dark place in the future with little of the hippy dippiness some seem to attach to Aquarius. I should know I'm multi aquarius!
