luigi mangione - vigilante folk hero or brazen murderer? 1 by james_m it's a question that will remain open ended, but it seems this event ( the killing of brian thompson) has generated a lot of controversy either way... my prayers go to the family of brian thompson.. i am going to do this in tropical and create a separate thread for sidereal showing some important differences.. the time i have gotten for magione must be regarded as speculative, although marjorie orr has provided this off some forum that was sharing it... may 6, 1998, 1213pm dst, towson, maryland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_o ... on#Suspect https://star4cast.com/luigi-mangione-an ... /#comments luigi mangione.jpg Viewed 3626 times 66.87 KiB ''assuming'' the time is accurate - this tropical chart has leo rising with uranus exactly on the descendant - a bit less then 17 minutes off exact.. what can we say about this chart, aside from the importance of the angular uranus in bringing something out of the ordinary into the mix? it is a bucket chart with moon-rahu on the handle of the bucket in virgo in the 2nd house... it is very much a western hemisphere emphasis chart, with the exception of this moon-rahu will conjunction. the moon rules the 12th whole sign house, an important consideration.. in fact the moon is in a much closer opposition to a dignified jupiter in the 8th house which is suggestive of his family background of comfort and affluence ( based on what i have read on the internut).. the outer planets of the pall of the bucket are pluto-mars. the ascendant ruler is in a close conjunction with the malefic of the opposite sect mars, which is said to be in poor shape in the celestial sign taurus.. they are essentially squared onto this same uranus setting on the descendant.. while uranus may be setting it is in the commanding square to sun-mars conjunction here giving its influence on or over the sun-mars conjunction.. the idea of some radical martial event is suggested in the natal chart via uranus on the descendant and in square to the sun-mars.. saturn in aries rises before the sun which usually indicates a type of seriousness into the solar nature.. in this chart it is in aries in the 9th.. apparently he excelled in school and higher education.. perhaps this involves the mercury in a 6-7 degree conjunction to saturn in the 9th here.. pluto is in a 135 to the direct mercury-saturn midpoint.. maybe there is more and some others will comment.. below is a transit chart to 645am dec 4th, nyc for the time of the shooting of brian thompson. luigi mangioneTra.jpg Viewed 3626 times 66.08 KiB here is a biwheel with mangiones chart on the inside and the transit on the outside.. luigi mangioneTrabi.jpg Viewed 3626 times 106.34 KiB here are the astro connections between the 2 charts that i pick up on.. all aspects 1 degree orb or less.. transit ascendant conjunct natal pluto - natal pluto is in a close square to the nodal axis, so transit ascendant square natal nodal axis as well. transit sun sextile natal uranus transit moon sextile natal jupiter transit nodal axis at natal venus. transit mercury-jupiter opposition 135/45 natal neptune transit venus square natal saturn transit mars 135 natal jupiter transit saturn 150 natal ascendant transit neptune 135 natal ascendant i suppose one could draw any number of conclusions off the transit connections to magiones speculative birth chart here.. i am not sure where to start.. saturn and neptune together are often associated with the topic of health.. the fact both transiting planets are in hard aspect to magiones natal ascendant seems to speak to the issue of concern over his health and the support system for health in the usa more generally.. i heard someone use the term medical care complex, implying that it is a huge profit making machine that eats up a lot of small peoples money, but the fringe benefit of having the plan often times doesn't work out to the benefit of the small person.. thus the robbers and barons imagery that seems to have been evoked here in all this.. an interesting observation was had doing a 2024 solar return chart for magione off this speculative time... essentially the location of the ascendant degree in the solar return is very close to a square to where mars was at the time of this event.. i am not sure what that implies, but it suggests that the transit of a planet could have some association with the data in the solar return... that is speculation on the use of solar return charts that i have heard and read about before... also the midheaven in the solar return chart is in a close square to the natal sun mars conjunction as well.. venus in the 2024 solar return chart is exactly on the descendant of the chart forming the closest planet to the angles.. venus is the 7th and 12th house ruler of the sr 24 chart as well.. the chart is shown in my next post.. it seems i can only post 3 charts per post based on the new attachment feature of skyscript.. Re: luigi magione - vigilante folk hero or brazen murderer? 3 by james_m here is what magiones chart looks like in sidereal - krisnamurti ayanamsa.. luigi mangionesid.jpg Viewed 3618 times 77.03 KiB the big difference, aside from the change in zodiac is the importance of the moon as handle to this bucket chart, rules the ascendant... the moon has passed the trine to mars and opposition to jupiter.. mars and jupiter are sextile in his natal chart.. now we see the sidereal chart solar return for 2024... it is very different! essentially this is a real eastern hemisphere emphasis chart with mars right on the ascendant indicative of a very willful person with the potential for great intent.. i think the difference between the tropical and sidereal solar returns, if this time is accurate, couldn't be more starkly different.. luigi mangioneSolsid.jpg Viewed 3618 times 59.51 KiB pluto is the most elevated planet in this chart, with mars exactly on the ascendant.. the sr ascendant is conjunct magiones natal venus.. exalted natal venus is in the 9th whole sign house and rules the 4th and 11th houses.. venus is also at the direct midpoint of saturn-ketu... from my reading saturn-ketu is associated with back problems which apparently was what magione was suffering from, from a back operation he had which apparently didn't work out favourably.. venus in the natal chart squares directly onto the midheaven degree - 2 minutes more then 1 degree out of exactness.. the biwheel with natal inside and sr 24 on the outside is shown below... luigi mangioneSolsidbi.jpg Viewed 3618 times 94 KiB Quote Sun Dec 15, 2024 7:15 pm
Re: luigi magione - vigilante folk hero or brazen murderer? 4 by james_m here is the tropical zodiac day chart for brian thompson.. i have used 12 noon dst in the absence of a specific time.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Tho ... sinessman) brian thompson.jpg Viewed 3618 times 68.25 KiB thompson also has a bucket chart with moon-jupiter in pisces as the handle to this chart... the moon-jupiter is essentially square the nodal axis of the chart..the sun-moon phase is a waning moon - trine to sun , the opposite of magiones waxing phase trine to sun.. so both have sun trine moon - considered favourable, but from the opposite lunar phase perspective.. saturn is also the planet rising before the sun in thompsons chart as was the case with magione.. thompson also has a loose saturn-mercury conjunct as found in magiones chart... here is a biwheel with thompsons day chart on the inside and magiones 1213pm chart on the outside.. luigi mangioneRadbithomspon.jpg Viewed 3618 times 103.16 KiB the most obvious and immediate observations for me are the jupiter position is about the same in both charts.. although they are born about 14 years apart, the conjunction of the 2 jupiter is about 3 degrees apart... 2ndly, i note the proximity of magiones ascendant to thompsons natal mars - about a 7 degree conjunction.... the mars in each chart are square one another.. the venus in magione which has had the transit of nodal axis to it, is in close opposition to thompsons natal pluto... thus the transit of nodal axis, south node specifically to thompsons pluto was happening at the time of his death.. thompsons uranus is loosely opposite magiones saturn/mercury conjunction.. magiones pluto is fairly closely conjunct thompsons neptune.. there moons are essentially opposite one anothers, while their suns are in a sextile to each others.. i suspect - right or wrong, that they probably would have gotten along well with each other... maybe the abrasiveness of the mars square mars, or more specifically magiones sun-mars square his natal uranus, might not have allowed for this, but overall they share some nice connections with one another, but obviously never actually met one another... if i get more specific data on brian thompson, i will share it and comment more.. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/12/04 ... i-mangione Quote Sun Dec 15, 2024 7:36 pm
Re: luigi magione - vigilante folk hero or brazen murderer? 5 by astralwanderer Hi James - this is a terrible event, and whatever motives Magione had for his actions, there is no defence for taking a life. My thoughts are with the family too, and all those affected. Living in the UK we are lucky to have a national health service and, although the services are under great pressure, there is some relief in knowing that we can receive treatment without receiving a huge bill for care. It seems a bit unclear if avenging some grievance with the US healthcare system was part of Magione's plan, but that is the news that we received here. I have posted three charts below. These are commonly called diurnal charts, but it might be clearer to call them daily transit charts. The technique is explored in some detail in Sophia Mason's book The Art of Forecasting Using Diurnal Charts. I think that others might call them Quotidian charts (i.e. daily charts). The technique, as described by Mason, is to calculate a chart for the day, using the individual's birthplace and birth time (including any adjustments for daylight time applicable on the day of birth), but without making any adjustments for daylight time on the transit day in question. So, essentially, the transit date is substituted for the birth date, leaving all other variables unadjusted. I find this a very useful way of bringing the relevant transits for the day to the natal chart to the fore. Transits to the angles seem critical, either transits to the natal chart, or natal positions crossing the angles of the daily chart. You will see that to key placements in Magione's natal chart are focalised: Uranus opposite the ascendant, and Pluto square the Nodes. Murder magione shooting.png Viewed 3596 times 195.15 KiB The daily transit chart for the murder shows Magione's natal Uranus rising (natal chart on the outer wheel) with his ascendant setting. This would have been partile on the day before the killing, perhaps indicating a small correction to the birth time might be needed. Arrest magione arrest.png Viewed 3596 times 197.26 KiB You will see that for the day of the arrest Magione's natal Pluto is brought to the daily transit MC. The precise square to the natal nodal axis is square to the meridian. In between the murder and his arrest, Magione's Sun/Mars conjunction in Taurus will have squared the diurnal horizon (6-7 December 2024). The diurnal Moon will have crossed the diurnal horizon on 6 December too. These charts raise a question - given that Magione's natal Uranus and Pluto will make these angular alignments each year on these dates, why is this year different? My sense is that it is the Mars opposite Pluto and Venus in his diurnal 6th-12th houses that are bringing the stress. These planets will have been triggering his natal Neptune square MC aspect in the weeks leading up to his terrible actions. On the day of his arrest, diurnal Venus is partile conjunct his natal Neptune and one degree shy of squaring his MC. The Mars station around 6 December, a few days before the murder, occurred in Magione's diurnal 6th house, just three degrees beyond it's square to the MC. He will experience an on-going square to his MC for some months as it moves back and forth through early Leo and late Cancer. The timeline suggests that Magione arrived in NYC on the evening of 24 November 2024 to begin preparations for the murder. The following chart shows that diurnal Pluto was rising on this date, just entering the diurnal 12th house. Diurnal Uranus crossed the diurnal IC on 26 November 2024. Diurnal Mars crossed the diurnal descendant on 28 November 2024. The lead up to the murder occurred under these diurnal transits. The link back to Magione's natal chart is through the fact that each year these degrees of the angles recur on or about the same dates, but they are significantly triggered this year by the position of the key planets described above. The following chart is for the day of Magione's arrival in NYC. magione arrival nyc.png Viewed 3592 times 195.44 KiB Diurnal Pluto exited Magione's diurnal 12th house on 13 December, just a few days after diurnal Uranus squared his diurnal horizon. On the 13th December it seems Magione appointed a NYC attorney to fight his case. This was probably the point at which he realised the full import of his actions and the long-term consequences of a conviction on the charges arraigned against him. You can see that the whole course of events, based on this birth time, was bracketed by diurnal Pluto's conjunction with the diurnal horizon and it's exit from the diurnal twelfth house some weeks later. Note that on the following day his natal Neptune ends it's annual transit of his diurnal twelfth house too, and the natal MC squares the 6th-12th axis. These precise alignments are typical of daily transit charts for significant dates in a life in my experience. Of course such precision does rely on the birth time being accurate, but these charts might confirm that the data for Magione is more or less correct. Re: luigi magione - vigilante folk hero or brazen murderer? 6 by astralwanderer Hi again - I could only add three charts to the previous post, so here is the chart for 13 December 2024: magione attorney.png Viewed 3591 times 194.19 KiB We may see significant developments in the case around the first week of February 2025. Note that at the end of that week, diurnal Pluto comes to diurnal MC and diurnal Uranus crosses the diurnal ascendant. Natal Neptune comes to the diurnal MC on the same date, bringing Magione's natal meridian axis square to the diurnal meridian. Natal Uranus squares the diurnal ascendant at the beginning of that week, bringing his natal horizon to square the diurnal horizon. A few days later, Magione's natal Sun-Mars conjunction crosses the diurnal horizon. magione feb 2025.png Viewed 3591 times 192.15 KiB Ed "...the motions that are akin to the divine in us are the thoughts and revolutions of the universe." Re: luigi magione - vigilante folk hero or brazen murderer? 7 by Ouranos Hello astralwanderer, I read your posts with interest. Just a few comments on the use of the diurnals. To keep the natal Time Zone constant throughout the year, when setting up the natal chart instead of choosing LMT, choose Other. The Time Zone difference should already be in there and greyed out. Minus east of Greenwich, plus west of Greenwich. This way, you won't have to worry about the Time Zone changes during the year. I see that you use Porphyry. I have not tested this one. In her book, Sophia Mason uses Placidus but I use Polich, also known as Topocentric, very close to Placidus (less than 1 degree difference) and got good results with it. Whatever works for you. Another feature of the diurnals is the use of all diurnal and natal House cusps, not just the AS and MC. Of course, they are the most important ones to look at as you showed in your example on the day of the shooting. We can also see that the ruler of the diurnal AS being Saturn and natal Saturn is conjunct the diurnal 3rd House cusp . And the transiting Moon will square this position from the diurnal 12th during the day. We can safely say that he will travel (3rd House) by escaping or secretly (Moon in 12th House). For sake of clarity, I will usually look at the ruler of the AS or planets in the 1st House and see if they connect to a natal or diurnal House cusp for additional insights. And whatever transits are happening. Otherwise, events will happen to someone else in your surrounding. Good point also that you mention that this method can be helpful to rectify a chart within a degree. Of course with more key dates in one's life. Cheers, Ouranos Blessings! Re: luigi magione - vigilante folk hero or brazen murderer? 8 by astralwanderer Hi James i imagine the eclipse data to luigi magiones chart would bring us more astrological insights.. the close connection with the angles of the solar return to magiones natal angles is also interesting and suggests a more significant year for him based off the solar return.. I've attached the solar eclipse on 8 April 2024 at 19 Aries, set for Magione's birthplace in Maryland, below: magione april eclipse 2024.png Viewed 3564 times 173.81 KiB The two traditional malefics are closely conjunct on the 8th Porphyry house cusp. This is not a good portent. The eclipse chart angles are close to Magione's own chart angles. Interestingly, the eclipse ascendant is within a couple of degrees of his return MC. In my view the nodal axis on the malefic 6th-12th house axis in the SR 2024 alerts us to the importance of the immediately preceding eclipse for the working out of the background to Magione's actions. The solar return for 2024, dated 5 May 2024, set for his birthplace is below. magione sr 2024.png Viewed 3564 times 182.71 KiB Venus sets precisely on the degree of the eclipse MC. This is a bit of an odd one, given the setting planet is Venus rather than Mars, it's in dignity too, but poorly aspected apart from the wide separating square to Venus. I'm sure there's a lot more to say here and others may like to comment. Ed "...the motions that are akin to the divine in us are the thoughts and revolutions of the universe." Plato, Timaeus, 90. Re: luigi magione - vigilante folk hero or brazen murderer? 9 by astralwanderer Thanks for your comments Ouranus - much appreciated. In my view diurnals are under utilised by astrologers and are well worth using to look at critical events in an individual's life. They seem to often say more than the chart for the particular time and location of the event. Ed "...the motions that are akin to the divine in us are the thoughts and revolutions of the universe." Re: luigi magione - vigilante folk hero or brazen murderer? 10 by james_m hi ed and ouranos thanks for both your posts, in particular ed - all the work you've shared here.. thanks! i read your post with interest, but because i don't properly understand the process involved with diurnal charts, i have ordered the book by sophia mason this morning.. it sounds fascinating based on the connections you've made here... thanks also for putting up the eclipse charts and speculating further on all of these charts... i do believe the sidereal solar return works better... over the course of time i have struggled with solar returns, using relocated charts on an equal footing to the natal solar return charts.. only in the last 7 or 8 years, have i concluded the natal chart works better, but while i was involved in studying all this, i got involved in sidereal zodiac... i then got involved in making some comparison between the tropical and sidereal natal solar returns and have found the sidereal charts work better... of course you can get the same result if you add the precession option when doing them with the tropical zodiac which does come with solar fire... regarding the software you are using, i think i asked you this a few years ago - can it work on open source linux - not apple or windows? anyway - thanks for the time you took to share all this with me! i await the book and seeing if i can recreate this technique you are advocating here in the astro software i presently have.. cheers james Quote Mon Dec 16, 2024 5:20 pm
