Re: What made Freddie Mercury so charismatic ?

Hi there - some further exploration of this time for Freddie Mercury's birth. Here is Mercury's diurnal chart for the date of his death. There are some notable alignments in this chart. The diurnal chart is the inner wheel. The natal placements for 5.09AM (+2 hrs 45 mins) are on the outside of the chart.

Diurnal Pluto rising over the diurnal ascendant.
Natal Pluto culminating over the diurnal midheaven.
Diurnal Mars squaring natal ascendant.
Diurnal Mars rising in the diurnal chart.
Natal Mars just beyond the diurnal 12th house cusp.
Natal Uranus on the diurnal 8th house cusp.
Diurnal Moon in the 8th house opposite natal Moon.
Diurnal Venus close diurnal 12th house cusp partile conjunct natal Mars.

A couple of days prior to his death he would have had diurnal Pluto and natal Pluto on the angles of his diurnal chart. Natal Mars would have been on his diurnal 12th house cusp.

"Now when the Greek asked himself what it was, outspread in the macrocosm, that corresponded to the forces in us which call forth the will-impulse—the whole world of will—what did he answer? He gave it the name of Pluto. Pluto, as the central ruling power outspread in macrocosmic space, but closely associated with the solid mass of the planet, was for the Greeks the macrocosmic counterpart of the impulses of will which forced the life of Persephone into the depths of the soul."
Wonders of the world, Rudolf Steiner, 20 Aug 1911

At the beginning of Act 4, Faust appears as a complete mystic. He has reinterpreted the best of his inner being for immortality.

Steiner said that those who die under a Pluto influence (he was talking about the myth as Pluto was not yet discovered), leave us with the gift of immortality. Like Freddy Mercury with Pluto culminating in his diurnal.
You find a very good example of this myth with Antoine de Saint-Exupéry who died under a conjunction Sun/Pluto in Leo. Steiner said that they leave a lasting impression on humanity.
Their life as an expression of the will impulse in us.

Our birth chart is the death chart of our previous life.
Our death chart is the birth chart of our next life.

hi ed

i am curious to understand what you are doing here... you use the term diurnal quite a bit... i take that to mean daytime, or from sunrise to sunset, give or take... is that it?? or is there some more specific explanation for it, you're using that i am unaware of?? i see on the inner chart ascendant 22 scorpio and sun at 1 sag.. the sun hasn't risen yet... i see freddie mercury died in the evening of nov 24th, 1991... i would like you to explain the relevance and use of this inner chart, aside from it coinciding with the date of his death.. thanks!

Hi James - see below:

Diurnal horoscopes or charts are an interesting topic. The idea is very simple: on any day of the year, a chart is calculated for the place and time of birth, using any daylight savings adjustments in place for the original natal chart. This latter condition applies whether daylight savings adjustments are in place on the day for which the diurnal chart is calculated.

The chart angles are very similar to the angles of the natal chart if the diurnal chart is calculated for the birthday in any given year. However, the angles then move through all 360 degrees of the zodiac, during the course of the following year. The MC will move about one degree per day. The rate of movement of the ascendant will vary according to the latitude of birth and the sign rising at the time for which the diurnal chart is calculated. Depending on whether signs of long or short ascension are rising in the diurnal chart will determine whether the rising sign remains constant for more or less than a month.

thank you! i find the use of the term confusing - diurnal chart, or charts, but you have brought this up before with the mention of sophia masons book, which i have yet to receive in the mail.. it's coming.. as i understand it, it is basically a transit chart, with the distinction it takes the 'tentative' birth time and emphasizes this apparent birth time, to come up with additional observations/conclusions... it seems to me what would be unique about it would be the place of the angles... with regard to the position of the planets - they are the transiting planets on the day of his death, but not quite lined up to the time of his death which was apparently later and in the evening of nov 24th, 1991..

with regard the transits, if the speculative time has relevance - pluto is squaring the ascendant/descendant axis... that is in the transit chart without need of having to look at the diurnal chart to make this observation... now, maybe their is some merit in 'diurnal' charts.. i haven't worked with them, so can't comment, but i have found value in the use of transits, which is also what much of this data is based on, excluding the unique data of the angles for the diurnal chart... in other words - t pluto is squaring the speculative ascendant...

here is the transit chart for the day of his death on the outside.. i have put the time at 2300 hours in the absence of a specific time...

aside from the pluto transit to the (1 degree off )square of this transit, some other interesting transits are t jupiter at the natal sun - if leo rising, pisces is the 8th whole sign house, so 8th lord transit to ascendant ruler - sun... transit moon-ketu ( south node ) to 12th house of the leo rising chart... actually the moon - ketu transit reflects the natal moon - ketu conjunction in his natal chart.. it is 11 degrees out of exact in his natal chart.. indian astrology uses whole sign house aspects and would consider it a 'conjunction' in some of the astro schools... either way, i do find this similarity in the natal and event chart worth mentioning..
transit venus is exactly conjunct natal mars... transit sun is exactly square natal mercury... transit mars is exactly conjunct the ic point..transit saturn opp natal saturn 2 degree orb... transit uranus exactly trine natal sun. and finally transit pluto square the ascendant, mentioned at the beginning...

when i get sophia masons book, i will be studying these 'diurnal' charts more keenly ed.. thanks for prodding me in this direction..

Thanks, guys especially astral wanderer checked out the Planetdance software you use &
downloaded & with crossover software I am using on my Mac I now have a new Xmas present to indulge in. I am very pleased with it /there is even a tutorial on YouTube. Excellent .
This whole conversation on Freddie Mercury has been Top draw.
I think James mentioned the midpoint between Sun-Pluto & Ascendant which stands out for me especially when I look at a group photo of the band's faces. The other three members don't have a presence like Freddie does, and the first thing my eyes are pulled toward is Freddie, by his photogenic presence. So I would imagine the Asc would be close to the permitted orbs of the Sun-Pluto midpoint

hi zosma

the sun-pluto midpoint, i never mentioned.. it was the mercury-pluto midpoint to the ascendant of the first chart i posted.. as it happens the sun-pluto midpoint is square the midheaven in that same chart with 3 utc on a 510am chart to zanzibar.... the angles of the chart are 21 leo 17' 52" ascendant and midheaven is at 27 taurus 32' 34"... the sun-pluto midpoint is at 27 leo 06' 57".... the mercury-pluto midpoint is at 22 leo 29'54" this chart i give the details on and the one shown in my first post on this thread - would have both these midpoints emphasized..

Thanks James and Zosma - the discussion has been very interesting.

Zosma - thanks for the kind comments about Planetdance. There is a helpful forum for the software that is worth checking out. There are some additional modules that you can download there if they are of interest to you.

https://forum.jcremers.com/

The software is regularly updated with new features and bug fixes. It is easy to download and install updates through the Help menu.

Best wishes. Ed

I wonder if a better name for this technique might be 'daily transit chart' rather than 'diurnal chart'. The latter has a specific meaning now: a chart cast for a time when the sun is above the horizon.

The alternative might be 'quotidian transit chart' meaning 'occurring or returning daily'.

hi ed

thanks for your additional notes and commentary... yes, maybe a different name would work better, but on the other hand i am not sure what it would be!

in this technique the specific birth time and birth location are kept, but they are applied to the day of an event in question... do i have that right?? daily transit chart doesn't really do it and i am not sure what quotidian means... maybe that is a better choice if 'quotidian' means the specific birth time and location is applied to the transit chart date.... cheers james
