Peregrine in Solar Fire?

1
Does anybody know how Solar Fire calculates what planets are peregrine? I have a chart before me with Sun in 11°26' Sagittarius on the IC. Solar Fire marks it as peregrine and gives -2 points (+3 for triplicity, -5 for peregrine). But if it accepts the second triplicity ruler as dignity why consider the Sun as peregrine?

The answer might be in the Dignity/Almuten Editor under Utilities in Solar Fire, where you can select the Triplicity system, Ptolemy, Lilly, or Dorthean. Perhaps it's a software error.
Here are some suggestions to try: Check which triplicity system Solar Fire is using (ex. Ptolemaic vs. Dorothean).
Verify if a setting exists that prioritizes peregrine calculations differently.
Consider overriding the peregrine classification manually, since a planet with triplicity dignity shouldn’t technically be peregrine.

Contact Solar Fire technical support; they can verify if it's a bug or not.
Regards.

I doublechecked: it’s Dorothean.

Could not find any.

Yes, I can override it on a print with a pencil, but on screen I don’t know how.

I will and report here.

Hi Georgius,

I don't have Solar Fire but it may be that they are assigning triplicity rulership based on sect. Sun on IC indicates night chart and the Sun is the diurnal ruler of Sagittarius so possibly they are only counting the nocturnal ruler, Jupiter, as having dignity of triplicity. Can you tell from Jupiter's dignities? See https://blog.standishastrology.co.uk/?p=15 ... if the blog post is accurate, that may be just what they are doing.

A technician of Solar Fire wrote the same suggestion to me: maybe the out of sect ruler is not counted for peregrine. But why than allow to set points for the ouf of sect ruler?

That is a inconsistency: If it’s peregrine than there is no dignity at all (-5 points or less for the Sun), if it’s dignified by the second ruler of triplicity it is not peregrine.

Thanks for that link. What he describes I have done before. But I did not know how to start as admin. Let’s see what that brings…
