I remember reading the first Fidibus post you quoted and trying to figure out what he was saying. "7,5 cancer at the AC is sun uranus" is not so hard. This would normally be written as AC = SU/UR, or better AC sq SU/UR. The midpoint of SU/UR is 04 Aries 35. So AC and SU/UR are squaring, though with an orb of almost 3 degrees, very wide for midpoints. And there are no actual planets at these points. They're just 2 unoccupied points that are approximately square. But "19,5 aquarius at the MC is pluto venus" I don't get. The MP of PL/VE is 01 Pisces 08, more than 10 degrees from the MC. Here's a link to the chart he was talking about. viewtopic.php?p=131794#p131794 The other posts you quoted I have not tried to fathom. I agree with you that degrees of the zodiac in themselves do not have some innate meaning. I have largely given up on Fidibus's posts. --stargeezer Quote Thu Feb 13, 2025 11:22 pm

Hi James: I share your skepticism about this approach to astrology. The idea that a specific degree inherently represents "death" is problematic for several reasons. First, as you mentioned, a birth chart represents life, and while death is an inevitable part of existence, assigning fatalistic meanings to degrees seems arbitrary. The comparison to Algol is interesting—as you point out, many people with planets near Algol live completely normal lives. Traditional astrology does acknowledge certain difficult degrees (via terms like "pitted" or "azimene" degrees), but these are more about challenges rather than fixed fates and are often linked to other fixed stars. Fidibus seems to be promoting a deterministic view that derives degree meanings from past planetary configurations coinciding with tragic events rather than from numerological, symbolic, or esoteric traditions. Systems like the Sabian Symbols (developed by Elsa Barker and Marc Edmund Jones in 1925) or the degree meanings proposed by Charubel (John Thomas), a Welsh mystic from the 1890s, and others take a more intuitive or symbolic approach rather than one rooted in empirical evidence. Degrees have been assigned meanings in various systems, but these attributions often arise from subjective interpretations rather than consistent statistical patterns. Like you, I’d be curious to know if there’s any historical or empirical basis for Fidibus’ claim, though I suspect there isn’t. Regards. Quote Fri Feb 14, 2025 1:18 am
Re: on the theory of degrees of ( tropical zodiac) being associated with planets or death 5 by james_m thanks aj in fairness to fidibus, there has been a school of astrological thought in this direction for some time.. it sounds fatalistic to me and arbitrary as you say... i would venture to guess that if some of these practitioners were to be examined closely they would all be working with different systems and meanings for the degrees of the zodiac too, but i am not going to be doing a research project on this! take a look at the book list philip graves has organized on this topic.. https://www.astrolearn.com/astrology-ar ... ondegrees/ Quote Fri Feb 14, 2025 1:57 am

It seems remotely akin to eclipse degrees that seem to resonate on the degree of the zodiac for some time after the eclipse itself but uses derived degree meanings from past planetary configurations coinciding with tragic events. I'm sure you can apply it to positive events as well. As you know, there is no complete system of 360-degree symbolism that exists in classical astrology; early hints of degree meanings appear in ancient texts. The Babylonians, Greeks, and Arabs assigned special significance to certain degrees, often linking them to fixed stars or critical points within zodiacal signs. It is a more modern effort The modern effort to attribute specific symbolic meanings to each zodiacal degree, as near as I can tell, began with the 19th-century French astrologer Janduz (Jeanne Duzéa), who published an extensive system of degree imagery based on clairvoyant impressions. However, it was the aforementioned work of Charubel (John Thomas), a Welsh mystic, and Sepharial (Walter Gorn Old), a British astrologer, that truly popularized this approach. In The Degrees of the Zodiac Symbolized (1898), Sepharial compiled a list of symbolic meanings inspired by clairvoyance and numerology. Repeating myself here mostly for the benefit of readers that may not be familiar with this part of astrological history that In the 20th century, the most enduring and widely used system was developed by Elsa Barker and Marc Edmund Jones, known as the Sabian Symbols. Jones, working with the medium Elsie Wheeler in 1925, assigned a visionary image to each zodiacal degree through a psychically received process. These symbols, published in The Sabian Symbols in Astrology (1953), remain a cornerstone of degree-based astrological interpretation. You can find them embedded within Solar Fire interpretations as well as the Charubel system. Other systems followed, including the La Volasfera symbols, attributed to the Italian seer Antonio Borelli, and the work of Dane Rudhyar, who provided a psychological and evolutionary interpretation of the Sabian Symbols. Re: on the theory of degrees of ( tropical zodiac) being associated with planets or death 7 by Georgius Michael Roscher published a book „Kritische Grade im Horoskop“ (critical degrees in a chart). I think it is not available in English. He associatets planetary connections with each degree of the tropical zodiac. There is a comprehensible system to it. I didn’t experiment with it so I cannot tell about the use of it. This book (and there is another one for prediction) is not mentioned in Graves’ essay. Re: on the theory of degrees of ( tropical zodiac) being associated with planets or death 10 by Fidibus I do not have any system. Even if I woulld say "I have my own system" that would not be right. The last astrological book that I completly read is 30 years ago. I do it by myself, look at the things that happen if I am interested in it. I am not always right. If not then I try to find out why. I think that I found out to work with an astrological school schemata leads you on the wrong pathway. Life and astrology is more complex than work with formulas. There is not an answer to every degree of the zodiak or we just know about it. Some degrees give general answers some specifics to a certain person or country. Quote Fri Feb 14, 2025 8:13 am
