Hi there - I don't think Thiel's horoscope has been posted on the forum. He seems to be the power behind the throne in the US, or at least behind Vance's rise to VP. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a time for Thiel so we have to make do with a noon chart. However the connections between Thiel's and Trump's charts are pretty clear.

Thiel's Mars is closely partile conjunct Trump's Moon in Sagittarius and opposite Trump's Sun/Uranus/NN combo in Gemini. Thiel's Jupiter is close to the midpoint of Trump's Mars and Ascendant. Thiel's Sun is partile conjunct Trump's stat. Jupiter in Libra, a signature for a political marriage made in heaven if there ever was one! Thiel's Neptune is conjunct Trump's IC.






Thiel's worldview seems to be a bizarre mishmash of self-justifying nonsense that serves to underpin the oligarchical ripping off of working people. His political views are based on the works of Ayn Rand, the teenage boy's favourite philosopher. His religious views are apparently informed by Rene Girard, a French philosopher, who's central idea is the Scapegoat Mechanism. I don't know whether Thiel is loading on irony by throwing his money behind Trump and Vance, the Scapegoaters in Chief!

Make of him what you will, but the astrology seems pretty clear to me.

Hi again - I know people are sceptical about rectified charts, but looking at Thiel's noon Moon position does suggest he might be born a bit later in the day. Using the tropical zodiac his noon position for the moon is late Capricorn. Oddball libertarians like Thiel don't automatically scream 'Capricorn Moon' at me. It seems much more likely he might have the Moon in early Aquarius. Of course, this chimes nicely with Pluto's ingress into Aquarius by transit. He gets to force himself onto people by proxy.

If we push his birth time back to around 16:30 we get a Moon at around 1 degree of Aquarius, near his Porphyry 12th house cusp. Opportunely this brings his ascendant to around 27 Aquarius, putting his Jupiter (see synastry with Trump above) on the descendant. Pluto's transit of this MC (14 Sagittarius) occurred during 2002-2003 when Thiel's businesses began to take off. He was involved with the start of Paypal in 1999 as Pluto approached his MC.

Rectification is a bit 'horses for courses' of course of course. One could make a case for Thiel having a Capricorn Moon, being born at night etc - he works behind the scenes, fancies himself as an intellectual, seeks privacy and displays modesty. More seriously, my sense is that someone with a Capricorn Moon would be a more orthodox Conservative, wanting to preserve social and political institutions and particularly sceptical about Musk's and Zuckerberg's 'move fast and break things' shtick. (This always sounds like a philosophy for trying to evade responsibility for one's actions to me, a most un-Conservative notion!) On the whole I think an Aquarian Moon is more appropriate for a libertarian, Randian ideologue who promotes free speech in the interests of forcing everyone to think the same.

thanks for sharing your ruminations ed... the connections between thiel and trumps chart are fairly pronounced and seem largely favourable with the close jupiter contacts.... thiels nodal axis is 120/60 trumps ascendant as well... saturn at 8 aries tropical is a type of handle to his bucket chart and it in turn is 135 neptune.. i am not sure what this implies, seeing as ''haven't made up my mind'' yet, lol.. perhaps the saturn in aries retro is an image of a self made man and one that he identifies with.. i don't know...

thiel has uranus rising ahead of the sun, which can act as a type of vocational indicator... technology seems to be his thing, or is it just money and power?? i know he excelled at mathematics earlier in life.. i haven't looked at his chart closely..

there is an AA rated chart for rene girard.. perhaps you'd like to compare that with your rec, or wreck tification ideas?? thiels nodal axis is directly on girards ascendant axis...

Thanks for the feedback James. I tried to find Ayn Rand's chart details, but I think the data is pretty unreliable so I didn't pursue having a look at her chart. I didn't think of looking for Girard's. I will take another look at Thiel's chart in the light of Gerard's. I note that a pre-noon birth time for Thiel would land a Capricorn Moon on Girard's Venus. Perhaps I need to rethink the Aquarius thing. May be he's a true Conservative with a big C! rather than Ayn Rand cultist/apologist.

One of Ayn Rand's three philosophical axioms is 'A is A' = 'the law of identity'. Well 'B is B' and 'C is C' and 'D is D' and so on. I don't really think she's telling us much, but it seems to have impressed Thiel, Ron Paul, Alan Greenspan, most of our recent British PMs, a lettuce and a host of other right-wing kingpins. I'm not really going to pursue trying to find out what the other two axioms are as I'm no further down the road to a wider understanding of the world having been reminded that 'A is A'.

I'd take Wittgenstein over Rand any day based on this statement:

I wonder if Rand ever accused him of being irrational, which apparently was her favourite riposte to disbelievers.

I guess what I'm trying to say is how have we ended up in cloud cuckoo land being ruled by people who are impressed with Rand's pseudo-philosophical rubbish (and I'm being generous here). It's depressing if I'm honest.

Let's hope that astrology might shed some light on the matters in hand. How wonderfully irrational of me!

Hi there again - I have done a bit more exploration of Thiel's chart and potential birth time. If we use Girard's chart as a reference point (accepting the birth time on the half hour), moving Thiel's time from noon to 11.13AM gives the following synastry.

At 11.13AM Thiel's Moon is in Capricorn, partile conjunct Girard's Venus and opposite Girard's Moon. Girard's Jupiter, the philosopher's planet perhaps, comes to just over one degree from Thiel's rectified ascendant for this time. There seem to be a range of other connections worth exploring, including the nodal contacts highlighted by James. It seems Girard, whom Thiel apparently met (or at least he attended one of Girard's US lectures), had a big impact on Thiel's world view and religious convictions.

Why Rand should have such a hold over him is more of a mystery. A Capricorn Moon lends a big dose of astrological (not medical) melancholy to a chart. In this case I would expect Thiel to be rather more discriminating and thoughtful in his choice of political philosophers. Melancholy is a circumspect, perhaps even sceptical attribute, and I would have thought an individual with this earthy, Saturn-ruled lunar placement would sort through Rand's nonsense fairly quickly. A Capricorn Moon would be much more (properly!) conservative, in the classical Burkean sense, seeking to uphold social, political and religious institutions and cleaving firmly to the rule of law as the final bulwark against the mob.

Anyway, here is the chart in a bi-wheel, Porphyry cusps. Girard's chart is the outer wheel.


In fact a look at Thiel's astrological temperament balance for the 11.13AM time shows the story. Based on this time he is largely choleric, with the Sagittarian ascendant, being ruled by Jupiter at the end of Leo (see Trump synastry above). His Moon also has a good number of choleric qualities despite its placement in cold, dry Capricorn. The almuten is Mars - itself in Sagittarius and ruled by Jupiter. The Moon is ruled by cold, dry Saturn, but Saturn is detrimented in Aries, ruled by Mars.

It is no wonder he gets on with Trump, Mr Choleric himself. There is a very similar underlying temperament balance in the two men's charts, although Thiel has the melancholy that is completely absence in Trump's nativity. This would really give Thiel the edge in any philosophical discussion with Trump. Both men have no phlegmatic qualities at all. Neither are going to be interested in taking account of other people's viewpoints or, heaven forfend, their emotions and feelings. It's a man's world in the White House now, and the rest of us can go to Hell while they go to Mars. Enter stage right, Elon (Dan Dare/Buck Rogers) Musk, aka Mr Spaceman.

Thiel's Moon, if it is in Capricorn, would make him more reserved and more comfortable with working behind the scenes, and much less outlandishly brash, than the Ringmaster in Chief. Although Sagittarius rising has some qualities that might push an individual into the limelight, the Moon, if it is in Cap, would definitely counter this.

Choler (hot, dry) would lend an individual a predilection for admiring 'rugged individualism' and an intolerance of others (at its extreme). It would also lend one a certainty in the truth of one's own world view. Melancholy (cold, dry) is a much more reflective and sceptical quality, given to severe doubt and self-questioning (at its extreme). Thiel clearly has some of the melancholy quality, and his contact with Girard gave him a way of reshaping his religious perspective.

thanks for taking another look at that and considering some other options.. this is why i maintain it is very difficult to rectify a chart..i know isaac starkman uses polaris software to come up with his decisive times, but as we saw in the case of hillary clintons rectification, he and many others were wrong.. so i am leary on the rectification process generally for this and more reasons..

i did read up on rene girards mimetic theory... like many theories - it sounds plausible..

when i was in my early 20's i read ayn rands book atlas shrugged.. i might have read fountainhead as well, but can't remember... what i recall from reading the books is the idea of initiative, self reliance and 'can do' attitude that generally pervades the books.. there is a lot to be said for this type of philosophy, and yet i found the way the ideas were explored as shallow and unrealistic in some basic level.. i suppose if you are a psycho or sociopath, you know how to look after your own interests first and don't care about the welfare of others... it is something like that for me when i think of all this.. some people are very self serving.. fortunately we as a species have survived due the generousity and benevolence of others more then thru our own abilities... i suppose that is my philosophy!

i think thiel has been influenced by more then ayn rand or rene girard... perhaps his parents, and the fact he has moved around to different parts of the world, or that he grew up mostly in california... it would be good to know his birth time and i appreciate the time and effort you have put into this to try to ascertain what it might be too.
