A question a lot of people seem to ask is "what will my future husband/wife be like?" this is someone they probably haven't met yet, so what house would you use for this unknown future mate? Is this an appropriate use for horary at all?

I leave it to Deb and Tom to answer the second part of your question if they would. But I think, Sepharial in his Manual does mention that in the birth chart, the planet to which Moon applies does indicate the marriage partner.

I would straight away go for the seventh if I have to. We have fifth house for children and we can predict about children in the chart of a newly born baby who is to marry some one long long after.

I think that is more telling from the natal chart; the sign on the 7th house cusp, 7th ruler and sign, and any planets in the 7th along with aspects to other planets can give description(s). If no planets are in the 7th then can use the ruler of the 7th and any aspects it makes. At least that is what I have read
