Boyfriend has been in a serious car accident. The second serious accident this year, both occured on the day I came home from serious operations.

Regardless though, I am having trouble with natal charts and decumbitures in seeing whether the damage will be permanent.
A 4X6 post went through the windshild, hit him in right side of face in the eye. The eye/forhead/complete upper right side of face is swollen beyond recognition.Truely difficult to see. blood is seeping from under the swollen eye which is completely shut. The doctors say must just wait and see, the pressure and blood may cause blindness or he may simply heal perfectly?

Well, this definitely defines the situation..he cannot see at all right now!,
There are other concerns though..the undignified sun (ruler of infirmities of the mans right eye) in his 12th house conjunct venus ruler of 12th house, the lord of his 8th is the exhalted moon in his 6th house deposited by that venus.

This is all very indicative of the horrible injury itself but I'm getting no clues again as to how to deduce whether the pain or injuries will result in permanent damage? Is there possibly a route that anyone could point out? Should I focus on fixed stars..Is 12th or 8th house ruler more indicative to the permanency of the situation?

I get Gemini rising from your data. Are you sure you cast the right chart? That would make Mercury your boyfriend's significator, in the 6th house, which makes sense. Deb taught us to check first off if the ruler of the 6th is stronger or weaker than the ASC ruler, to see whether the querent is stronger than the illness or the other way around. Venus L.6 is weaker than Mercury, being in detriment, combust and peregrine, so that's a good sign that he has what it takes to overcome.

Not too happy about the fixed moon however, opposing Venus, Sun and Mars. There's a lot of fixity in the chart which suggests it takes a while to heal.

This must be very hard to deal with when you're recovering from a serious operation yourself. Let's hope for the best.

Yes gemini is rising but I am reading it as I am querent-Mercury and boyfriend is Jupiter. The description I gave earlier was from turned houses. Jupiters situation seemed more to me to indicate him more.

Either way, we are both in rough shape, my problems could be permanent as well. but are more closely related and described by the Mercury separting from conjunction with Jupiter?? Not sure though..maybe I should change it?

No, I believe I am doing it right using him as 7th. But I am not looking for anyone to answer my question for me. I am looking for guidelines as to permanency. What shows permanent blindness?

I'm certainly no expert, but I wouldn't imagine that there is no definate technique especially for determining from a horary as to whether or not a person will be blinded. The answer will be there in the chart from observation of what is occuring with the significators.

I always consider that the sign of Libra can be considered the 'blind' sign, because of all the zodiacal symbols it is the only one not equipped with eyes or the power of sight, i.e: 'blind justice'.

The future of his right eye, would perhaps be indicated by the planet to which the Sun next applies. The Sun next applies a conjunction to detrimented Venus, the ruler of the turned twelfth, the most unfortunate of houses, associated with darkness and obscurity, and Venus rules this cusp via Libra, the sign which is blind.

The Moon is dominated by Venus and in the turned sixth, with it's next aspect to Mars, significator of the injury, implying perhaps some degree of permanence to this injury?

not close to any of the blindness stars and makes no real connection with Mars here. The moon your Cosignificator perfects opposition with Mars shortly, but mars is nat in any particular distress. In fact he's in his own sign and doing quite well I'd say. Your Mercury is a bit distressed however I'm hoping you get well soon. =)

Thank you for the feedback, I am pretty sure through the significators, this will be a slow healing process. Just cant see if it will last forever.

It looks like your advice as to closeness to fixed stars related to blindness is the same thing that I believe I should be focussed on, and the direction I will take for now.

Good news, I believe the idea that a significant conjuct to 'blind fixed stars' is needed. My boyfriend is still in rough shape, but not blinded. Vision is not back completely, still no white in the eye but see he can!! This is good news in an otherwise terrible chart.

For further insight into the chart you cast, Sun rules right eye of man and Moon the left. Do you see any confirmation there?

I took a quick look at the chart. I see Sun is at the solstice point of Neptune who creates a fog. That's good for dissolving what is no longer needed (such as the blood that has accumulated to cleanse and will need to be eliminated). I also see that Moon (his left eye) is exalted and moving in to oppose the Sun. This will give him a chance to "see" through the Moon for a while in order to balance his value system and strengthen that eye. This is also shown by the interception in the Reg. chart.

If squares and oppositions say no, then Moon opposing Sun, then later Jupiter, the answer is clearly no permanant damage. The grand square playing out through the Moon may indicate some time necessary for healing but Mercury ruling the hour will speed it up. Even when he's retrograde, being in Scorpio will hasten the elimination of waste.

I just have a few quick thoughts on this chart.

First I agree to turn the chart, so he?s Jupiter in the radical 6th, turned 12th. The illness is the radical 12th ruler Mars, which is in the radical 6th, turned 12th house. Either way all this 6th house ? 12th house symbolism is bad. Mars is in its own sign of Scorpio which points to a head injury. Aries being the sign on the turned 6th house also points to a head injury.

Jupiter?s most recent contact was a square with Saturn, which rules both the 8th and 4th house, the house of the grave. This was a serious and potentially life threatening accident.

Mars, Jupiter and the Moon are all in fixed signs, which points to a long illness. However the signs on the turned 1st and 6th houses are both moveable signs, which show a fast recovery. Taken together and with a fast Moon, this points to a moderately long recovery.

But the most obvious sign of this chart is the series of oppositions that the Moon is confronted with. This in and of itself points to a difficult recovery. The Moon is both very strong and is fast. This shows that he will prevail but with great difficulty. First the Moon opposes Mars, which rules the turned 6th and is intercepted in the radical 6th. Then the Moon opposes the Sun, which rules the right eye in men. It then opposes Venus. Venus is in detriment, combust the Sun and rules the radical 6th house. It also receives the Moon by sign and term.

I have to say that I?m stuck as to what these all mean specifically. They seem bad, but you said that he is getting better. I?d say as a whole it means a difficult recovery, but with the Moon that strong I?d say that he does recover.
