Subtitle: does astrology really work...

1
It occurs to me that the subtitle of this particular list "Philosophy and Science" inclines to limit the type of discussion in a way that it might not necessarily mean to do. For instance, Philosophy... William Lilly named his book Christian AStrology and chatted about why that title in his book. That is a topic of Philosophy, that has nothing to do with does astrology work... Or Why does someone use astrology might be a topic of Philosophy.

And Science, discoveries like the Black Forrest Star Disc, or the ellaborate astrolabe's and other machinery used by ancients or new discoveries, etc. tend to either not get listed or get listed elsewhere on the forum and I think it may be the use of that subtitle?

It occured to me because I was reviewing some archeological info that I had considered sharing ... it was really more scientific in nature. Ergo I would think to put it here, but the subtitle....

Okay, my 2 cents worth of whining for the day...

Hi Granny,

I agree with you. Deb and I have discussed this very briefly and she suggested I come up with a different subheading. Unfortunately, this is as far as I got. :) It is difficult to capture everything in one subheading and, quite frankly, we would need several more forum divisions to be able to adequately cover everything that people wish to discuss.

There have been several different topics discussed in this forum, including those of archaeology, ancient philosophy, science, etc. Perhaps you should be guided by this for the time being. Just place your post in the forum that you believe best suits the topic you wish to discuss. I have a particular interest in archaeoastronomy and will always be happy to see posts of this nature. I'd hate to think that people would let a little thing like a subheading prevent them from doing so.

So let's have it then. :)

how about

topics related to Astrology by use, application or derrivation?

(astronomy derrived from, sextant and astrolabes are applied to, telescopes etc. philosophy or psychology seem logically placed here, etc...) Okay, just off the top of my head. something you said kinda triggered that... Granny
