Is global warming caused by humans? 1 by kali I'm so tired of the back and forth debate I thought horary just might settle this issue, for me anyway. The underlining question is 'Are the people who blame humans correct?' Feb. 8 2007 7:17 am Aiken, SC Asc. 17 Aqu 58 Because this is all about our Earth I added the planet to the chart and sure enough it sits with Saturn, ruler of the chart, there are problems. Saturn is debiitated, a troublemaker who overstates his worth. Humanitarian, scientific Aquarius is rising. Sun, ruler of 7th in detriment conj Neptune shows these humanitarian/scientist people to be deceiving themselves? First house with the second shows our desire for material comforts and what people are saying is the cause of global warming. With so much being in fixed signs, nothing is going to change. With the outer planets Neptune and Uranus in Mutual reception shows a strong case they are in harmony, natural cause? Compared to Sun/Mercury, the personal planets being in detriment, really quite weak to be the cause of such global changes? Final note, benevolent Jupiter is rules! Rules the 10th and 11th. Venus/Uranus squares Jupiter, again blame people for being a indulgent and careless in attending to our responsibilities My take is that NO we are not the cause. Please feel free to correct my methods. I'm practicing. kali Quote Thu Feb 08, 2007 3:38 pm
by yuzuru Problem 1: in general horary is not good for mundane astrology: it lacks real focus and desire to "charge" the horary. Problem 2: problem without empirical solution, so there isn?t really a point. You can interpret your horary one way or another, and maybe other people will have other opinions, but no way to know who is right, as the question has no real, objective answer. 3 by Gunhilde I would be inclined to agree, although I admire the desire to stretch your skills! This question is in some ways too abstract for a horary. I have the same problem with the 'what is my soul's purpose in life' questions for horary: the answer can be read a thousand different ways, and generally will be interpreted in whatever 'slant' the querent prefers... 4 by granny_skot I was pondering yoru question and think perhaps a couple of things to think about are in order. the first being my favorite Nasa quote "work the problem people" assigning blame is useless doesnt' fix a bloody thing. there is the thought that if you can find the root cause of the problem you can fix it, but I think people get too complicated with this issue and when you start looking for blame, you are less likely to come up with solutions. I think better questios for this topic might be, "what are the root causes of this problem (insert problem here)?" What can I do to help correct this problem? something like that. I get rather annoyed that people are so overwhelmed with complex issues surrounding such topics they feel helpless to do much. I think you would get clearer answers to such questions, than this one. Parlty because it is not a one root problem. Granny Quote Thu Feb 08, 2007 7:08 pm
by kali According to Olivia Barclay we can ask questions which we are deeply concerned, wherever they range. By looking at the significator and it's aspects will show the depth of thought. She also says if a planet in the querent's nativity is situated in the early derees of the sign concerned, exactly on the horary Asc., the chart can be judged, and the planet will be be particularly significant in the judgement. In her book she shows the question "Is AIDS a manmade disease"? Wish I had seen that before doing the work. I do need to go back to the drawing board. Granny, I was hoping to come away with a clear direction from Horary. I'm not overwhelmed. Gosh, it was in the late 1970's this first came to a head I think with aerosol can's causing the depletion of our ozone layer. I stopped using aerosol. Then you had to take care how you threw away your trash. Plastic had numbers on them to tell you what was good and what was bad and how to dispose them. What kind of car you drove told how environmental you were. And on and on and on. I did my part. The heat is being turned up on this issue and I felt it was as good a question as any to practice my astrology. kali Quote Thu Feb 08, 2007 10:14 pm
by kali Gotta admit this fixed Scorpio is finding it hard to put this chart down. But after reading Dr. Marc Edmund Jones he succinctly states that the Moon void of course, via combust, Saturn in 7th house means something, and as yuzuru also states, the energy is too low, etc. and never should read a chart beyond that point. There are no exceptions to this. This chart has all three. Just as strongly it shows the issue, imo. Co-significator Moon of the querent and mankind, rules the environment and sits in the 8th house which rules pollution and sextiles Pluto in the 11th house of our comfort. Asc. in Aquarius ruled by Saturn is the planetary hour. I have not read lots of horary charts and maybe charts will strongly show the question at hand but can not be answered. Or am I just looking at the chart according to my opinion? Seems difficult to believe asking a yes or no mundane question can't be answered. Back in the days when the question of whether the Earth was the center of the Universe or not could not be revealed through Horary? Anyways, Dr. Jones says chart is not readable and I trust the rules of Horary. But if anyone cares to clarify some of my questions, it would be helpful and be appreciated. kali Quote Sat Feb 10, 2007 4:18 pm
by Tara Hi Kali, First of all there is hour agreement: the chart is radical. Also look at the symbolism ... The Sun (warming) in Aquarius, a human sign, on the ASC. I would say this chart is an unequivocal YES, we are causing global warming. I thought that debate was over anyway, horary aside. Quote Sat Feb 17, 2007 5:10 am
by Tom I thought that debate was over anyway, horary aside. The people that say the debate is over are the people who don't want to bother entertaining opposing views, so they simply declare the debate over and ended in their favor. How convenient (not to mention childish). Science isn't about debate; it's about establishing truth. In the case of "global warming" that hasn't been done yet, isn't close to being done, and in a "debate" like this one, probably can't be done. Follow the money. There is gobs of grant money at stake for those whose careers are built on studying "man made" global warming. If it isn't true, they're out of work. Think that might tilt their "findings" a bit? http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/ ... 021207.php Tom Quote Sat Feb 17, 2007 3:11 pm
by kali There is no debate that the globe is warming or that our CO-2 levels have risen due to humans. The debate is still very much alive whether this rise in CO-2 is the cause of the warming of our planet. There has always been global climate change and some scientists are seaching for proof that humans can cause it and other scientists say the proof is without question. kali Quote Sat Feb 17, 2007 5:08 pm
by Tom There is no debate that the globe is warming or that our CO-2 levels have risen due to humans. And herein lies the problem. Recently online a guy listed all the sites he went to to try to determine the amount of CO-2 in the atmosphere. Surprise no two sites agreed. If we can't determine with any accuracy the amount of the nearly ominpresent gas of carbon dioxide, despite claims by all those studying that their figures are accurate and the others are not, how can we determine if the level has risen much less if the level is due to human activity? And maybe, (don't look if you can't stand to read it) it may not even be harmful. Secondly warming itself is dubious since weather records, accurate and otherwise, dont't go back all that far, and in terms of geologic time they're insignificant. We have still not achieved some of the higher temperatures recorded in the 1920s. And there is the little matter of the ice age. We're just coming out of it, so warming, if it exists, is probably natural. And it f it is natural, and harmful, we're all doomed. Forcing Barak Obama to abandon hsi SUV wont' stop it. The global warming hysteria is political, and financial. It's a business for many and a religon for more (that's why they say the debate is over). At this point it is manifestly not science, or at least not what science claims to be. And I hate to be a noodge, but this isn't astrology either. Tom Quote Sat Feb 17, 2007 5:29 pm
by Tara Dear Tom, I seem to have struck a nerve. It is you who are turning the conversation away from astrology with your insulting rant. As a moderator on this forum, don't you think you should curb the urge to insult people whose opinion differs from your own? I would also point out that this month in Paris, "scientists from 113 countries issued a landmark report saying they have little doubt global warming is caused by man." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,249659,00.html An inconvenient truth?
