Should I leave my current job and accept the new job offer? 1 by Harlequin 16th. February 2007, 1:13a.m. GMT, Worcester, UK. Regiomontanus, 19 degrees Scorpio rising. Querent has been offered a seemingly better job than the current one and is undecided about accepting it. She is represented by Mars, in strong essential dignity (Exaltation and Term) in the third house. I used John Frawley's suggestion (The Horay Textbook, Chapter 23, page 227) to take the current job as Lord 10 and the possible future job as Lord 11. The first thing to catch my eye was the South Node in the tenth house, not a promising start for the current job. Lord 10, Mercury, is in very poor condition, being in Detriment, Fall, Under the Sunbeams and Retrograde, and in opposition to the MC. By contrast Lord 11, Venus, is in strong Essential dignity, being in Exaltation in Pisces and in the Triplicity, Term and Face of our querent. Venus and Mars are just separating from a sextile aspect, which I interpreted as her having been offered the job and now she is considering the offer. 2 by Deb Mercury retrograde makes me wonder about her changing her mind, but the Moon is moving towards the sextile of Jupiter, situated and ruling the 2nd, so one way or another she seems capable of negotiating a better deal for herself. My problem with this chart is that I don?t see the logic of assigning the ?potential new job? to the 11th house. If I had this kind of question I would ask the querent to be more specific in what was being asked. The question would be either ?shall I stay in my current position?? or ?Shall I take the new offer??. That way I would use the 10th house in relation to the job being asked about, and I would know that whether the chart was good or bad overall reflected upon that situation. The reason I used Frawley's advice is because he states, in his "The Horary Textbook", page 227, "In most cases we can take the sign on the 10th cusp and its ruler to show the present job and the next sign round in order of the zodiac (anticlockwise) and its ruler to show the next job." 4 by Deb And there?s no reason for you not to do that, of course, if you want to follow that technique; but I don?t understand the logic of John?s suggestion, and I am not aware of a historical precedence for it. Also, let?s say we have the Moon applying to the square of Saturn and a general theme of ?worsening? in the chart; or let?s say we have the opposite, where the general tenor of the chart is for increase. In most charts it would still be very difficult to decide which of the two options is the cause of the problem or advantage. I think it is much less open to confusion if we have a clear focus in the question, and much more reliable to looks for indications of change from the present job by the 10th ruler changing signs or the 10th cusp being at the end of its sign ? that sort of thing. Having said that, it would be very good to get your feedback on how things go here, and whether, in your experience of this chart, John?s suggestion did seem like a useful approach to take. Update 5 by Harlequin Seems I misread the separating aspect between Mars (querent) and Venus (Job). I had read it as the querent having been offered the job, which she had, and taking time to consider whether to accept. But since then for various reasons the parties haven't been able to get together so the querent has decided not to pursue it. I guess the correct reading of the separating aspect should have been that it's too late, the moment for acting on the offer had gone.
