I don't see how a retrograde, detrimented malefic can be good in one's house of substance.

Saturn in such terrible essential dignity may represent possible deprivation of substance. This symbolism is attached to Granny's MC, not a favorable connection in my estimation since the MC stands for manifestation of her career. Even if Saturn is making a trine to the Moon or to the Sun in her chart, this quality of lack has the potential to attach itself seamlessly to whatever those trined planets represent. Saturn is often an obstacle, and with such negativity attached to him, he's a pretty significant obstacle.

Jupiter can be just as malefic as Saturn if its ill dignified, aspected and placed. Saturn is just naturally inclined to malevolence however well dignified & fortified Saturn is an excellent planet to have (very helpful for long term things as well). Anyone who says Saturn is bad simply because hes Saturn shouldnt be interpreting!

Saturn did not RULE 1,2 or 10, and considering we all know saturn is currently at 19 Leo and retrograde, that would give you an idea of what the whole chart looked like if you really wanted to go there, the whole point is that saturn is NOT one of the main significators and did not seem related to the specific question... but drew me in because it was so glaringly there.

Why would the Universe tell me I should start a business that didn't satisfy my monetary needs? frankly I'd tell the universe what to go do with itself if it did.

If Saturn is glaringly there in the horary, you should probably pay attention to it.

I seldom include the outer planets, but if there's one sitting *right there* in a house that is relevant to the larger query, I usually take it into consideration as well.

Surely Lord 1 in the 10th shows only that you're concerned with your career. To find out about the career we need to look at the contents of the 10th house and Lord 10 itself. What's the state of Lord 10? Does it like Lord 1?

I?m a bit tied up with other things at the moment, so hardly catching up with the new threads. I?ve no idea if I said that, but I suspect you were thinking of someone else. It is hard to tell what you mean by that comment, because until you understand the chart as a whole I don?t think that you can have your answer. I would view Saturn in the 2nd as very relevant to the question, since you are asking about setting up a business. Because financial concerns impact upon the query you obviously have to consider the state of the 2nd house and not just its ruler (ie, also look at planets within the 2nd and any planets that are making strong aspects to the 2nd house cusp). Saturn in the 2nd, depending upon its context, could mean that you will be impeded by a lack of money to invest in the business, that the returns will be poor, or that you should consider something that offers a slow but reliable profit. Considering the state of Saturn at the moment, it is not a planet that I would want to see in the 2nd ? but look at the houses that Saturn rules, to see if that makes its meaning more obvious.
