background: My sister-in-law has been married for 22 yrs and has had problem conceiving, has had about 3 miscarriages. She is visiting me and told me her peroids are late and we thought it may be b'cos of a lot of stress in her life right now. I told her to get a pregnancy test but she said she will get it done when she returns to her hometown. I decided to do a horary and asked the question "Is my sis-in-law pregnant?"

She is Venus at a critical Degree (turned 9th)
The pregnancy or baby is Mercury( turned 1st) which is her 5th house
Mercury (baby) is separating sextile from Venus (sis-in-law)
Moon is separating trine from Venus
Moon is separating sextile from Mercury
Venus is going to move into Mercury's sign
I take all this to be positive and tell me that she is pregnant.

If she is pregnant then I am worried about the opposition which the moon will make with SaturnRX (baby's health- 6th house from the baby)
As she is prone to miscarriage's will the pregnancy end in a miscarriage in about 12 to 13 weeks??
Saturn is in the terms of Venus, does that mean if she takes good care and treatment the pregnancy will be fine.
I am a beginner at horary and will appreciate any advice and interpretation.

In addition to your observations Consider these:-

-The late degree rise of the cusp of the ascendant--the question already had an answer which the querent knew.

-Moon is not applying any traditional planet within the moiety of its orbs.

-The turned chart 5th house i.e Virgo is a barren sign with late degree.

-The Ruler of turned fifth Virgo is now a days under the Sun beams. and would be combusted on or round about April 26th.

-Venus conjuncts Alcyone---a malefic fixed star.

-Turned ascendant conjuncts Algol.

-When Venus applies by square to Mars. Venus would be Peregrine. She would be receiving Mars (the lord of turned 12th and 7th house) however, Mars would not receive her. The effect may be more harmful.

I did notice some of the things you mentioned. As for the late asc I thought it reflected the pregnancy which is happening late in her life. She does feel that she is not pregnant and I thought so too, until I erected the horary chart which I think shows that she is pregnant. I will know for sure in about a week as my sis-in-law has returned to her country and will be taking tests to determine what is happening.
THe chart does look ominous and I am anxiously waiting for the results.

If I try to look more +vely at the chart then I would say that her sig on the weeping sisters could mean that all her married life she has so desperately wanted a child that she has been weeping about it and maybe all that is going to change with her asc on critical degree meaning change. And for turned asc on Algol she has been losing her head about this and also has been so intent about adopting and thats why she went abroad but in the end she was unable to due to unforseen circumstances.

How do I see the end of the matter? Is the 4th of the 9th or 4th for the baby?
Is there anything +ve at all in the chart? How do I interpret the applying sextile of the moon to the sun?

Hi missvirgo,

There are a lot of barren signs emphasized in the chart ... on the radical ASC which is also the turned 5th is Virgo a barren sign, in a late degree as STJ noted. Also radical MC is in Gemini, a barren sign. Moon in Aquarius not so fertile either and your sister-in-law's significator about to move from its domicile to Gemini, a barren sign. Also all the aspects seem to be separating which could mean she's already pregnant but the preponderance of barren signs argues against this.

Re adoption: Lord of turned 5th is in turned 11th so this may be an option. Sister-in-law's significator in radical 9th fits with international adoption scenario.

I don't think this chart is necessarily a radical one according to the traditional aphorisms. The late degree on the ascendant and the VOC moon would warn us against it. But I think it's always worth a shot, as the late ascendant is appropriate to the question.

I would say that your sister-in-law is most definitely *not* pregnant. The Moon is in a barren sign, and disposited by Saturn, to whom the moon will eventually apply. The ruler of the 5th IS Saturn, also in a barren sign, detrimented and retrograde in the 11th house.

I would consider the moon void of course in this chart, as she has separated from her last aspects, and needs to travel some degrees before she is again within moiety of her next aspect, which happens to be an opposition to Saturn. That is *clearly* a no, IMO.

I see there was a sextile between dignified Venus(sis-in- law) and Mercury(5th ruler) lately when it was in a fertile sign Pisces. Wouldn't that mean that she's pregnant?--- as the question is not 'will she become pregnant?' The applying aspects indicate though a not very happy outcome as many people pointed out... such as Venus entering in a barren sign and peregrine, the Moon in Aquaius, curently VOC and then opposed by the nasty Saturn, etc.

I wouldn't bother turning the chart, as many people do; I would take the 1st as the sister-in-law. But I suspect the chart will arrive at the same conclusion, no matter how it's turned, yes?

I got a call from my sis-in-law yesterday and she told me that on April 21st while on her plane ride back home she got her peroids so she is not pregnant. She told me the night before she got it her stomach was hurting.
She could've have been pregnant (about 7 to 8 weeks) and had a miscarriage without knowing or she could not have been pregnant at all. Since she never took the test we will never know.
SHe seemed fine and is now fully concentrating on adoption. thanks to all for the input.
