Having bought a ticket for a lottery for a house and the date of the drawing coming up in June I thought I would ask this question. Asked at 11:56 am El Cerrito Ca 5/4/07. It doesn't look good if I only look at my significator (the sun) it's not in aspect to the ruler of the fifth (jupiter). So my question is, is the moon considered as important in a judgement? And if so is the answer a possible yes, since, the moon and jupiter are moving towards each other in Sag in the fifth house? I do notice that the moon makes a trine to saturn before it conjuncts jupiter so that might interfere as well. Thanks for any input!

There are two places by the name of El Cerrito in Ca. I have used which is in Riverside C. Anyway i got the ascendant as Leo 08.56

I havent seen how to resolve the questions of lotteries and speculation. However, these are the things which i thought are worth considering.

-The Sun is at 10th house (desirous of advancement of Status in society). Moon in 5th (the matter concerns a thing whoose outcome is un-certain)

-The Saturn in Ascenadant (Worries and delays)

-The angles are fixed (Leo, Aquarius, Taurus and Scorpio). For a positive outcome in such kind of question i prefer Cardinal angles. Fixed angles a re good in things and matters which require Stability and results achieved through hard work and much pains taking. Furthermore the Quesited 5th Sign on the Cusp is Sagittarius (mutable sign) and its lord is in mutable sign (the promise of perfection or denial---mixed outcome--twists and turns)

-Saturn collects lights of Sun (Ascendant and Lord of 5th House). Saturn is Lord of 6th and 7th. (6th--Profit and gain out of 5th venture and 7th--Life partner or live-in relationship)

-The Lord of 2nd (own money) and 11th (wishes, hopes) is combust. South Node is in 2nd house.

-Moon is not bringing any virture. She was void of course. The last aspect she made was with Mars. So she has not brought any virture. She makes an aspect with Saturn and takes the virtue of Saturn and immediately transfers it to Jupiter.

-In the meanwhile Saturn was busy with Sun. Sun was making a square with Saturn and Saturn was busy collecting the lights of Sun and Jupiter plus it was being contacted by the Moon. In both kinds of contacts. Saturn tires and is fatigued. Immediately it refuses to work for any body not for Sun and Not for Moon. And he transfers the feeling of fatigue to Jupiter.

-The POF is in 8th (other people money).

Make up your own mind. It all depends on a question---- IS SATURN WILLING TO WORK FOR YOU. . Probably not.

Thanks for the reply STJ! Actually, it's El Cerrito in Contra Costa County and I get Aries on the MC and Libra on the IC. The rest all seems to be about the same however. Interesting stuff.

Where he looks? What do you mean? Opposite house? Houses the planet rules?

Does "it looks" mean the opposition house?

Does that mean everytime Jupiter sits in capricorn,it ll look at cancer?

a correction,most softwares do not accept Kolkata as place of birth,they still use the old name Calcutta.

Looks is literal translation of urdu word Dekhta hai or in English To see or To look. It is an old term which means that it is in an aspect.

There are four aspects which are used (excluding conjunction---conjunction is not an aspect in a technical sense)

Sextile
Square
Trine
Opposition.

Now, you can see for your self if that Jupiter in chart is making an aspect with any other planet or cusp of any house.Add one thing this aphorism holds much weight if Jupiter is in its own house i.e Sagittarius or Pisces. If you say that Jupiter is in Capricorn then we have weak jupiter to begin with. Mix Art with discretion

SO, it follows that if Jupiter is in Pisces and Sagiattarius and that too in 5th house then it is not going to benefit speculative ventures i.e lotteries, etc.(contrary to the belief that Jupiter in 5th benefits 5th house activities) Similarly people who have such Jupiter which happens to be in Pisces and in 5th house would give least number of children irrespective of the fact that Pisces happens to be the fertile sign. Similarly Jupiter in Pisces or Sagiattarius and in 8th house is not good for inheritance etc. Again i would say Mix Art with discretion.

However in a bengali astrology book I also read that opposition is not a positive aspect.

House means Cusp of House.

STJ has that borne out in charts you've looked at? Because that seems to contradict the idea of exaltation.

The rule is recommended for Natal as well horary charts. As far as Natal charts is concerned, yes, it works. But i have less than 3 months experience in horary, so i will be sure if i receive the appropriate feed back from the charts that i have analysed. Keep in mind that this rule becomes more releveant, If Jupiter is in its own house Sagittarius or Pisces. Exaltation is a lesser dignity. In your query it seemed relevant so, i quoted it. You or any one else is free to disregard it.

I know it seems to go against the basic understanding.
