I was referring to effectiveness of moon when she is in an aspect with her dispositor which is different from the arguments for perfection.

I have been following somewhere that some authors might call it a "generosity", rather than a true mutual reception as the two planets are in adjacent signs? But Mercury is in my house, its accidently dignified in the 1st, so isnt that a testimoney that I can see it? If it is in my own house isnt it a possibility it is in my possession?

I have seen some people using planets in the 1st house as cosignificators for the querent. I havent tried that, but that method would indicate that Jupiter [Lord 5,6] receives me by exaltation. That seems to confuse the other negative testimonies, between the Moon and Jupiter.

I am the querent. I have not made a career change yet. As I have said, career has been on hold as I have been busy in the role of carer, that duty has only just ceased. I am in a transition stage.

I have been accepted at university to study medicine. (This may be shown with Moon applying to Mars, however, some say physicians and medicine are ruled by Mercury, and Mercury is in my house. I have not comitted to this course yet, and I am able to easily transfer or withdraw.

The main problem I have is determining house rulerships. That is what I would like help with as it would help me with other charts. Have I allocated the careers correctly, by giving nursing 6th house, psychology 9th house and charity fundraising 11th house?

My eldest sister happens to be in medical profession. Naturally i have more queries from people belonging to medicine.

I repeatedly observed one crucial factor. Most of the times, the significator of the Querent was in 6th or 12th house. As you know that tradition that if the significator is in 12th house the person is hopeless and is in despair while in 6th it indicates sickness or not very well being. Imagine my surprise, when i found out the Querents were as happy as they could be, only L1 in 12th showed that they were in hospital or L1 in 6th showed that the person was a Nurse or doctor. Thats why i agreed with your initial post.

Mutual reception without reception is certainly generosity. But you are right. This question is not looking for perfection, rather it is asking for an advice.

Moon was not effective in your chart. Thats why, may be you have faced problems. I would associate Medicine more with Mars (surgeons etc) . I remember astrology lesson. Mars in 10th house and Saturn in first house is also an indication of a surgeon or medicine

Hospitals are 12th house, counselling is 11th house for a simple reason that a counsellor is a mentor and a kind of friend. Similarly charity or fund raisnig for charity is 11th cause 11 governs organizations and activities in a group.

Your house rulership is spot on according to my little experience, however, i may be tempted to assign Psychology to 9th, 11th or 12th (depending on type, nature or practice).

Mercury in first is in his/her house of joy. Mercury seemed to be relevant.

IMO, a doctor without his scissors or sharp knife is mercury, whenever he takes on the role of surgeon he is Mars. So, it depends. I would be tempted to assign Mercury to General Practitioner or a Nurse.

It may indeed be that this particular chart was cast at a time of transition and heavy responsibility so Lord 1 Moon is not effective, as you say. Perhaps the question itself is too broad, though there does seem to be some threads of sense.

Thankyou for pointing out that Mercury in 1st is in his/her house of joy. I completely missed that. It seems so emphasised that perhaps i should be using it as a natural ruler.

My interest in medicine was not to be a surgeon, but rather a GP or physician. I am interested in diagnosis and treatment of respiratory illness, and sleep apnea, particularly in babies (moon) and children (mercury). It seems appropriate that Mercury in that chart is in the exaltation of Jupiter [lord 5 children and Lord6 health] and Jupiter is the natural ruler of the Lungs. Likewise Jupiter is on the 4th cusp, which is the house that rules the Lungs. So that could be a thread of sense there. In my country we have clinical nurses that specialise in this area as well. - I have obstacles to overcome if I chose hospital careers as i have to balance shift work with motherhood. (The medical career is actually much less problematic than the nursing career in that regard.)

Moon in 11th in mutual reception with Mercury, Lord 11, its antiscion on 11th cusp, I keep thinking the chart emphasises an 11th house profession, which appears to be fundraising. I am very interested in working for a charity, and I already have mercurial type skills to do a good job of that. I am particurly interested in childrens/youth charities (mercury again) and would love to work in charity fundraising for a childrens hospital youth charity, the RSPCA or guide dogs. (Procyon and Adara perhaps?!)

Somewhere on this site I have seen it written that hospitals may be considered 11th house as they provide care. Public hospitals are funded by government.

I have read your interesting dialogue on the topic of vocation in horary. Is there any particular reason why you do not use the arabian part of vocation (MC+moon-sun) when someone asks what vocation would be most suitable?

I dont mind people using other Parts or Lots in addition to Part of Fortune. As far as i am concerned and as i stated in one of my post, I wanted to have minimum astrology tools for horary in the beginning. I dont even use Uranus, Neptune or Pluto unless and untill they are on 1-4-7-10 point. You can add your observstion in this thread by using Lot of Vocations.

I did cast it at one point, but do not understand how to use it. I would appreciate your thoughts.

My notes were:

POV at 25 Pisces in the 8th house. Node also has moved to Pisces, 8th.

Pisces is a fertile sign, mutable (double bodied) - two careers?

8th is the house of death, loss. Pisces is a sign of compassion and a water sign, comfort? - grief counselling? - [*in hindsight, my career has not had the opportunity to recommence/change until after the death of my parents. I wonder now if that may be showing up all over this chart.]

POV is disposited by Jupiter(domicile) Venus (exaltation) Mars (triplicity).

I looked for aspects to connect the POV to the chart:
* POV beholds its Lord Jupiter [lord 6] by trine, though not in aspect. Jupiter is dignified by terms and sits angular on the IC (but has retrograded into the 3rd.)
* POV is square Pluto rx on the 6th cusp.
* POV is in separting sextile by exaltation ruler Venus. Venus is accidently dignified in 10th but about to lose essential dignity.
* POV is trine Mercury [Lord 11 and 12]. Mercury is accidently dignified in the ASC, and in mutual reception with Lord 1.

I concentrated on Jupiter as the primary dispositor:
Jupiter rules the POV from a fixed sign (permanence?). Jupiter is on the IC, the end of the matter?

I looked at natural rulerships for Jupiter:
As it is associated with expnasion/generosity - Charity and Fundraising. It is also associated with publishing.

I looked at house rulerships for Jupiter:
Lord 5 - children, art, craetivity, parties
Lord 6 - health service professionals, nursing. *Pluto right on the 6th cusp drew concern though [I mentioned before the area of interest I have in the medical field is childrens sleep and breathing disorders, and how the lungs are naturally ruled by both Jupiter and the 4th house].

Three things that bothered me:

One:
Jupiter, as Lord of the POV and Lord 1, the Moon - receive each other by detriment, and they are not in any aspect. They dont like each other much! - However, I did notice that Mars aspects them both. I looked at that because the next application of Lord 1, the Moon was to Mars. - Mars [Lord 9] separates from a square to Jupiter with strong reception (Mars receives Jupiter by sign, triplicity and face). That seemed to say that Mars was carrying the light of Jupiter. If so, the next aspect to Mars is a sextile from the Moon. There is no reception between Mars and Moon, but I wondered if Mars could still carry the light of Jupiter to the Moon. Mars is Lord 9 (university, doctors?) and Lord 4 (end of the matter). *I do not know if Mars is carrying the light or cutting it.

Two:
Saturn (in detriment) aspects Jupiter by partile square. Saturn is Lord 7 and 8. [Back then THAT looked like a HUGE debility for Jupiter. - Now, however, it looks like what has happened since the chart was cast. Saturn, Lord 8, is conjunct Mars, Lord 9. the Moon applies to Mars (in 1 degree). My mother died the week I was due to start university (a year after the chart was cast). This upset me obviously and disrupted/delayed the plans. But it is also the precurser that allows me to recommence/change career. - I wondered if that was why Jupiter was retograde. It gets revisted.

Three:
Jupiter opposes the MC! - Is it saying stay home and look after family, or is it saying - work from home, or work in 4th house matters. Or perhaps it is just saying that a Jupiter profession is - the end of the matter.
