For those who are patient with the romantically curious, I would love just a few more ideas for how to interpret.

On May 29, 2007, I cast a horary at 8:10am in Washington, DC. I asked if I would meet a new boyfriend at the Starwood Festival in upstate NY approx eight weeks from now. I did this because to explore a "gut feeling" which may or may not be correct - will know in about nine weeks. I am at work, so I ran this horoscope on a free website - www.alabe.com.

With Cancer on the Ascendent, the Moon is my significator (9 degrees Scorpio). It is in the 5th house of love affairs. I took this as a sign to continue interpreting the horary.

Scorpio is on the 5th house cusp (the Moon is debilitated here, which means I am too, in some way). I looked to see where its planetary ruler is. Mars (10 degrees Aries) is in Aries (its own sign) in the 10th house. I started to have a little more hope.

Now I looked at the cusp sign on the 7th house, since I'm asking about a partner. That sign is Capricorn, and Saturn is at 19 degrees Leo in the 2nd house. The moon will eventually square the Saturn, but not before making an almost immediate inconjunct with the Mars, and a later trine with the North Node (12 degrees Pisces) and Uranus (18 degrees Pisces).

This is where I get confused. How do I interpret the inconjunct? Are the later trines worth considering? The ultimate applying square between the Moon and Saturn tells me that, "yes, there might be somebody", but it may not really go anywhere. I would have stopped interpreting, were it not for the yod.

There is a fairly tight yod between the Moon (9 degrees Scorpio), the Mars (10 degrees Aries) and the 12th house Sun (7 degrees Gemini). For some reason, this intrigues me, though I can't really put a finger on it.

(Its natal significance would be challenging, to say the least. 12th house self-undoing + 10th house career converging upon a 5th house love affair. Still, this would indicate an affair that was fated.) How does this get interpreted in the context of a relationship horary, or does it get interpreted at all?

Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

Just so you know, the traditional aspects are the opposition, square, trine and sextile. The conjunction is also significant (although is not, strictly speaking, an aspect).

A yod configuration involves three planets which do not aspect one another. Hence it is not an aspect, and this is where its significance lies. (The planets cannot see one another!!!) This may have some relevance in natal work, but not in horary, where we are usually concerned with the physical universe and concrete events!

The trine to Uranus means little - we're concerned with the 7 traditional planets. Likewise, the North Node is not relevant to your question.

The important thing is, Lord 1 is debilitated, as you pointed out. This would indicate you are weak right now. L1 applies to square debilitated L7 with no mutual reception - both planets being weak indicates they lack the strength to make the most of the opportunity shown by the aspect. The lack of positive mutual reception indicates they don't even like each other, so why would they get together anyway? In fact, is the Moon even in orb of her square to Saturn? By this I mean, is she within 5-6 degrees of perfecting the aspect?

I know you wanted a yes, but so far we have not got one.

My advice to you would be to look at what Venus is doing. She represents your sexual being (I'm assuming you're a woman!). For the prospective partner's sexual being, look to the Sun (assuming you are heterosexual). See if Venus is in any better state than Lord 1. For example, Venus applying to aspect the Sun, with positive mutual reception, could show a sexual affair (although nothing more). Also, check the reception between L1 and Venus. This might give you some clues as to how you are feeling about relationships/your sexual needs right now.

If you were thinking specifically about this festival, look to Lord 5 to describe the experience of the festival. Even if you don't meet a chap there, you might have fun anyway.

This was helpful - your assessment followed traditional guidelines, which reminds me that I need to make more of an effort to do that, especially since I'm learning. You used the chart to "get at" what I was picking up instinctively. The techniques really pick up a lot of the surrounding issues, and force the user to articulate them.

Personally, I find horary more challenging to interpret than I do western or Vedic natal, so it's really nice to have folks on here who are willing to help. I used to get really frustrated with folks who would post questions about natal interpretations, because there are so many good books out there that they could look things up in before posting. Now that I don't have ready access to a collection of books on horary, I'm starting to remember how much work it is to master a technique.
