Can I get away without insurance? 1 by kerenhappuch Hi folks, I occasionally read Tarot at fairs etc. Some of these events request a certificate of Public Liability Insurance (PLI), some do not. (This is a general insurance policy against people tripping over your table, getting paper cuts from your cards etc. It's not professional indemnity.) My policy is up for renewal. Instead of the ?60 it cost me last year, they now want ?90 for the exact same policy, when I haven't even made a claim. I have better things to spend money on and I am extremely loath to pay this much. My past experience with fairs is that they say they want you to have insurance, etc etc, but they are usually reasonably lax about enforcing this rule and mine has never actually been checked. I'm booked in to 2 events this summer which supposedly require PLI. My choices are, 1. Waste an afternoon looking for a cheaper policy, 2. Renew the one I have, or 3. Take a risk and don't renew. So I asked "Can I get away without renewing my PLI?" as in, will I be found out and booted out, or will my lack of insurance remain secret? 31 May 2007 12:01pm Penrith, England 2w44 54n40 3 Virgo rises. I'm not sure how to read the chart. Firstly, a combust Lord 1 would have been nice, as this shows my "light cannot be seen", hence no-one can see what I'm doing. Sadly, Lord 1 is Mercury at 2 Cancer, pretty "visible" at the end of the 10th house/cusp of 11th. Lord 1 in the 12th or 6th would have been preferable.... The Moon has just entered Sagittarius, and she applies to oppose the Sun... again, I think this is a negative testimony, that the Moon is increasing in light and is about to be full. More light = more visibility of my misdemeanours! The only positive thing is, I don't see Lord 1 applying to aspect any planet which could symbolise getting caught, or tangling with the organisers. Lord 1 and Lord 7 are in non-aspecting signs, while Lord 1 also cannot aspect the Lights (Sun and Moon). Is this a risk I can take?!?!? Does anyone know what house might show insurance policies? Is there a way of telling if I'll find a cheaper policy? Any thoughts are most welcome. Thanks, Keren Quote Thu May 31, 2007 11:26 am
2 by Deb I would want to have my indemnity insurance in place before advising you not to bother with the public liability insurance, because, well, you just never know ? The chart I looked at has your significator Mercury on the 11th house cusp, so I?m taking this as something you are hoping will go your way. But Moon is your dispositor and rules the 11th house and applies to an opposition of the Sun in the 10th. This could be hopes dashed, problems exposed or conflicts with authorities. Either way, enough for me to not suggest taking a risk. This pdf file might be useful (for tarot card readers and astrologers) http://www.tabi.org.uk/newsletter/TTRta ... er2006.pdf I think this would be a good place for people to add comments on their own experience with these kinds of insurances. I once heard ? and I don?t know if it is true so I won?t name the organisation ? that one British association has tried to ensure that astrologers can only get liability insurance through membership with them. I hope that isn?t true. I?ve always had a combined policy but it has carried on from the days when my focus was more on publishing than working specifically as an astrologer. The indemnity insurance is the one that I think is probably most useful for those of us offering professional consultations. Quote Thu May 31, 2007 2:17 pm
