What house would represent "personal growth"? 1 by Tara What house would represent "personal growth" in a horary question? For instance if someone wanted to know which of two courses of action would be best for her "personal growth"? I'm pondering 10th (professional growth may equate to personal growth in this question) or 11th (pursuing her own goals may foster personal growth) or maybe it's the 1st as independent action? Grateful for any thoughts. Tara Quote Tue Jun 05, 2007 6:25 pm
2 by astrojin Hello, Interesting question. I would have asked the querent to clarify his/her meaning of "personal growth". First glance would have me thinking that this is too "modern" a question to be solved using "traditional" method. If personal growth means his/her place in society, his greatest ambition, his greatest contribution, what he can achieve and manifest... then it's the 10th H for that is the angular house (angular = manifestation) of highest aspiration. If personal growth bends toward spiritual (partly spiritual partly material - the highest hopes and wishes) then it's the succedent 11th (succedent can mean partly spiritual and partly material) house of good spirits, wishes and hopes. If personal growth is simply spiritual growth, then it's definitely the cadent 9th H (cadent can mean "spiritual" because cadent places are the places of non-material. It is very difficult for a cadent planet to manifest its promise in the real world as it is too "weak" to act in the material world). The 9th house is the house of journey and of religion/God and of wisdom. The ancients would say that the highest "idea" one can actually conceive (though not accurately) is God and the 9th H is that place (in addition to the Part of Spirit). Well, in ancient times, if you wish to know your purpose in life, how to achieve spiritual growth and gain wisdom (wisdom = 9th H) - you usually have to go for a journey (journey = 9th H) and find God (religion/idea of God = 9th H) to gain wisdom (wisdom = 9th H). On your way you usually meet the Oracle or Astrologer!!! (prohecy = 9th H) to guide you... Quote Tue Jun 05, 2007 11:18 pm
3 by Tara Yes one would have to contextualize the notion of personal growth I agree. It was not the main thrust of her question which was about travel, and I think I'll go with the 1st house as representing her own personal growth. Interestingly, L.1 is in the 11th house so I think it's clear she needs to focus on her own goals rather than those of her significant other who is the context for her question. Thanks, Astrojin, for helping me to clarify this. BTW, I'd never heard this about succedent houses being partly spiritual and partly material. Where do you get this from? 4 by Morpheus Tara-- I would tend to agree with Astrojin. However, if i am asked a similar sort of question i would not bother to answer from a personal growth fator. Our knoweldge is limited. To answer a question which encompass the myriads of re-incarnations and will of God is quite difficult. and to get feed back impossibility Soul is tested, so i think that more a person faces troubles and tries to face them with courage and hope, the more his persona would grow. Personal growth is quite a relative term. Regards Morpheus https://horusastropalmist.wordpress.com/ Quote Wed Jun 06, 2007 8:34 am

STJ ... I don't think personal growth is such an esoteric concept that we can't see it in the horary chart. I have been working with this particular chart from the perspective of L.1 being in 11 as indicating her current focus for personal growth involves following her own dreams and goals and hooking up with others who share her goals. 6 by kerenhappuch Hi Tara, Perhaps the problem is the most common one in horary - a question which is in disguise. "Personal growth" is a very broad term, as has been discussed. I don't think this is a helpful phrase to use in the context of horary (if it can be used at all except retrospectively!!) Rather, your client appears to be asking about "personal growth" as a cover for the real thrust of her question, which, from your most recent post, I would suspect is something along the lines of "Which of my goals would be best to follow?" or "How can I find the strength to follow my own goals?" or even, "Please reassure me that it is ok for me to follow my own goals!" Do you see what I am getting at? I find this happens an awful lot. Most people are just not self-aware enough to be aware of their own lack of clarity/honesty/awareness of the root issues in asking the question. Especially beware those questions which appear to be about career etc but are actually based on a partner who is (usually, sadly) less than supportive of the enquirer's attempts to have a life of her own. Although, women in this position are often in denial about the state of their relationship, and it is often difficult to know how much one can or should push towards an awareness of this. (This circumstance is not confined to females only - I have had the odd male client in the same position. He wants to start a business, she doesn't want him to take financial risks, etc.) Did you have a discussion with the client of her understanding (ie what it means to her) of the phrase "personal growth"? What is she hoping for? (The 11th house placement certainly points to hopes of some kind.) This would no doubt help uncover the underlying issues. Out of interest, if you don't mind sharing the details, what was the actual question? Keren Quote Wed Jun 06, 2007 9:55 pm
7 by Morpheus Tara-- Here is why i think that Personal Growth could be a vague term -What exactly is Personal Growth? -Growth relating to physical/material, mental or spiritual? -Personal Growth could mean different for a Querent and it could mean different for the astrologer. -There has to be agreeing of the term between Querent and the astrologer. The very nature of the horary tells us that its more connected with mundane--ebb and flow--whims and fancies---That is Moon--The every day problem. The mundane astrology is more connected with something which is not altered by the every day problems--Compare Moon with slow moving planets. I am not trying to play down the efforts of astrologers who want to analyse questions of spiritual or personal growth--but dont you realise that by encouraging questions of such nature which have different standards of measurement may be we are giving way to inaccurate astrology. The essence of horary is instant feed back. Have you mastered the true branch of horary? ( i am far from being accurate in that regard). Missing objects--their place?--exact place?..cause thats real horary--there are different facets of horary-- I may fall in love 30 times in my life and horary would tell me each and every time if the relationship is worth going forward--but natal astrology can not tell me such. The natal astrology has a much broader vision. The horizon of horary is limited. This is the real world with real problems. For common people like me. We have horary. For the evolved souls--they dont need horary for they surrender their will to the greater will-- Beware of what you seek for your desire may breed the evil deeds-- But the Querent any way asks and astrologer cast a char to see if he would get it--thats horary--consequences of what we seek from the more evolved point of view would be difficult---for we thrive spiritually and mentally when we dont have enough-- Sorry, for being bad boy. These were my own views. E&OE Regards Morpheus https://horusastropalmist.wordpress.com/ Quote Sat Jun 09, 2007 9:01 am
9 by Morpheus Tara-- humm well i have strong opinions cause i have seen few noted/famous astrologers who can not accept the simplicity of horary chart. That they are required to answer the question posed, but instead they start soul searching. Same class of astrologers debased the natal astrology and they would do the same with re-incarnated art of horary. Arab astrologers not bothered to search soul meanings in Charts, not because they were afraid of religious clerics but they knew quite well that the brand of Astrology we practise reveals the truth but only for this solar system. It touches Astral body but not the soul. Peace. Regards Morpheus https://horusastropalmist.wordpress.com/ Quote Sat Jun 09, 2007 9:54 pm
