Dorotheus and the Moon

1
Hi

I'm just reading Carmen Astrologicum (Pingree, 1976, Astrology Center of America). About "Wills", Dorotheus wrote (p321): " Let him make his will when the Moon is increasing [in latitude], decreasing in computation and increasing in light, and its motion is from the middle of the ecliptic ascending towards the seas [the North],..."
What does it really mean : "in computation"?

thanks

Pat

Hi Pat

Another ancient text (from Erasistratos) talks about the Moon ?when it is adding in light and increasing in numbers?, using a more familiar term than the one Pingree has chosen. Lilly explains what is meant by ?to increase in number? in a margin note in CA, p.355; it is ?when the day subsequent he is found to have moved more minutes than the day or days preceding? ? ie., when it is increasing in speed of motion. I imagine that the Moon slowing down in motion would ensure that the will was not rashly produced, but more deliberately designed and so less likely to later alteration.
