The nursing degree is a sort of full circle for me; I originally considered becoming a nurse-midwife back in 1996 or so, but was put off by the bureaucracy of pursuing the course in England (where I was still living at that time). Then I got pregnant with my first child and life took a wide detour through strange fields.

I'm ten years older (and hopefully wiser!) and it's time for me to crack down on myself. I have transiting Pluto conjunct my Sun (for most of this year, it seems) so I certainly don't lack the will to do it now.

Thinking about it, now that you've mentioned it, Deb, this does provide the explanation for the retrogradation. I fervently hope it's not because I change my mind! I guess being in the 12th house could describe the sort of fatalism I feel at this point, and the self-doubt, although I reckon the 2nd or 8th would describe this better.

this was quite impressive, how deb. did come to the idea , that the retrograde jupiter could mean, the querent going back to a situation, where he was before.
well, i only thought, this would be taken into consideration, if the question posed has to do with that, eg: will this lost thing come back to me.
i thought back to my chart with my signifier retro jupiter and guess what, it was a bit like that.. so this makes sense.
and yes i believe you, if you say, that you want it without hesitation. with this antares star on my ascendent, i also thought, i will fight for this, really ... i can see, how much you want this.

about the twelftth house: is nurse and nursing and hospital not a twelfth house matter? also it is the house of its waterdomicile pisces.
i don't think this as a bad sign.
i've noticed, that the acceptance will be not before next year, (as the deadline is in january 2008) so you have all the signs, that you can do it. and nothing lost, if not, as horarys actually count only three to six months.

but now i have some general questions:
is it so, that a retrograde planet, indicating someone returning to a situation does not has the negative side, and does not weaken the position of the querent?
also, is it of importance, that a planet is retrograde, but is about to go diirect? does this mean, that the weakened position might alter? here it had already reached the degree about to change direction-
or, as R.C. pointed to, does it has any meaning, if venus is about to go retrograde, or do you have to take only the direction of the hour into account?

Hi rose, I can give a try for these questions:

In horary, the importance of the retrograde depends on the context of the question. If you are about to sign a contract, for example, and the contract's significator is a retrograde planet, you can be sure that the contract won't 'stick'; there will be changes made to it, or it will not work out as planned and will have to be re-written. In terms of a retrograde planet signifying a person, it depends to some extent, on whether the planet is dignified and retrograde, or debilitated and retrograde.

In the example of my chart, I am dignified by sign, so I am fairly 'strong', but as Deb pointed out, I am retrograding back toward a career I previously considered; in the retrograde I apply by a favourable aspect (sextile), so this doesn't 'weaken' me much (I am weaker by house, I believe, than by retrograde, because of this context). If Jupiter were retrograding back toward a *square* aspect, this would mean something different.

Yes, it is of importance, but again it depends on the context of the question as to whether this change of directions is positive or negative. Venus is in fall in Virgo, and is about to retrograde back into Leo, where it is not *quite* so debilitated, although it will still be peregrine. So this can be seen as a 'strengthening', or, at least, a 'not-quite-so-weak'. If Venus was in Libra and was about to retrograde back into Virgo you would definitely say that whatever Venus represents was about to lose a LOT of 'power'.

And yes, you absolutely take into account that a planet is stationed, either direct or retrograde!

In my haste to find out the answer to my question I overlooked all of this (well, I *do* have an Aries Moon ) and I'm very glad Deb and the other members reminded me of all of this, as all of it is important (and very relevant) to my question!
