In last week of July i had some traumatic experiences which made me reluctant to use internet for a while and since i cast horoscopic charts using on-line account of Astrodienst. I was left to manual calculation.

I have an ephemeris for the year 2007 and a crude table of houses for my location i.e Rawalpindi (Pakistan). The table of houses only gives Ascendant Asc and Mid-heaven MC points, and i dont know how to arrive at Placidus or Regiomontanus cusps.

I made an innovation, i had few failed horaries in the past which had kept me thinking. Here is my finding and i know i would have a lot of criticism but believe me i had quite a number of actual horaries to support my point.

In my view:-----

-Asc, Dsc, MC and IC are the strongest points in any chart, but their significance is quite distinct from the usual houses which we create.

-The more divine or logical classification of house system could only be equal house system rather than Regiomontanus, Placidus or Koch etc.

-The Cusp of any house might or might not be the strongest focal point of that particular house.

-This equal house system should have equal signs. The signs as well as house should begin from 0 deg to 30 deg of any sign.



Let me give an example. Ascendant is Leo 23 deg and 6 minutes and MC is Aries 15 deg and 6 minutes. But first house would start from 0 Leo and second house from 0 Virgo and so on. MC may or may not fall in 10H. Any planet at Asc or MC point would be considered strongest and angular + or - 7 degrees orb and it could be extended to 10 deg.

I would keep the members updated on further findings.

That does not sound like an Equal house system but rather a "whole house system". Equal house system takes the degree of Asc and uses it on every other cusp. Also, if you use 0 degrees on each cusp, the MC will have to fall in 10th house. I must not be understanding you.

Humm it appears that Whole House System should be the appropriate term for this experimentation.

MC is a strong point of cross of horoscope. It may or may not fall in the 10th house, if i use Whole House System. I thought that it was clear.

In Whole house system, Asc and MC would be separtely noted and any planet or point in aspect with them would be important.

Al-Muten, if any would only be calculated for ASC, DSC, MC or IC, if the requirement arises.

If the significator of the Querent is weak, we have an option to use Moon. But if Moon could not be used for any reason we would use Al-Muten and if Al-Muten is the same as Ruler we can use Exaltation ruler, triplicity ruler etc.

POF calculation would be same and it would not be altered in Whole House system.

Interesting! Have you come to any conclusions as to whether this works 'better' than Regiomontanus? Or is it 'same-same, but different'?

It would certainly be easier to calculate charts by hand using this method. Not that I want to calculate charts by hand!
