Unsolved horary revisited: Venereal disease 1 by Gunhilde Hi folks, I was trawling through my archives and came upon one I did awhile back, which I couldn't figure out well enough to give a definitive answer to. I thought I'd give it another shot and see if I have more joy. The querent asked: Do I [now] have herpes? 9 March 2006 12:40 pm Universal Time Cambridge, ENG, UK Background: The querent's partner had contracted genital herpes some years prior to them getting together. They had always been careful not to engage in any risky behaviour during outbreaks, but recently they had had a 'near miss', with the BF having an outbreak a day or so after they had had unprotected sex. She was wondering whether her luck had run out as far as contracting herpes from her partner. They were in a monogamous relationship. From what I understand, some people can be carriers (they have the virus) but never experience outbreaks. I couldn't figure out the chart, so I sent the querent to a clinic, but never heard back. This is just for 'educational purposes only', at this point. I gave the 1st house to the querent, ruled by the Moon, the 6th her health, ruled by Jupiter, retrograde in Scorpio, a sign associated with genitalia and sexually-transmitted diseases. The querent is placed in the 12th house. The 6th significator, Jupiter, is placed appropriately enough in the 5th house of 'Venus-related things'. It's pretty clear what this question is about. The Moon and Jupiter have just separated from a trine. They view each other by mixed mutual reception. Now, I bore in mind that Saturn was placed in the 1st. Was this a warning about me, the astrologer, or did it reflect the querent's concern about something her partner, 7th ruler, did, which would affect her? I also note that the Moon's next aspect is an applying trine to Mercury, ruler of the partner's health. It is in fall in Pisces. Pisces rules diseases of weakened immunity. The Moon, in fact, translates light between Mercury and Jupiter, who are also separating from a trine by means of Jupiter's retrograde condition. Now, Saturn, her partner, is retrograde, in detriment, and applies to oppose Venus, which is placed in his own house, rather elegantly, since it was his love of Venusian things that got him into trouble in the first place. However, I think I have been reading Frawley too much lately, because he says that the 6th does not represent the illness; rather, a planet that afflicts the 1st significator is the illness/disease. But I can make neither hide nor hair of this, as in this particular chart there is nothing much that afflicts the Moon. The Moon herself is in domicile, although I note she is also in Mercury's term/face. Other than that, and what with the passing trine to Jupiter, one *might* suggest that she didn't contract herpes, since the aspect has passed. But then again, the passing trine might indicate that 'she's already got it', especially with that translation of light. And how does that mixed mutual reception mitigate (Moon in Cancer vs. Jupiter in Scorpio)? Oh, flummoxed. Could someone please take pity and point out the obvious to me? It looks probable that she does have it, from where I'm standing, but I was uncertain enough at the time (and still) to avoid giving a 'yes or no' answer. Thanks for your input! 2 by Gunhilde I had to add an edit (I found some notes from the chart just now. I need a Virgo to do my files for me!). The timing for the querent's BF first outbreak was several months after they had gotten together during a time of stress, and the querent noted that she figured he had been carrying it since before they met. In my first post I said that he had contracted it before they met; what she actually said was that she assumed he had contracted it then! IS it possible that the querent was the carrier, and gave it to her partner unknowingly? Does THIS explain that past trine to Jupiter, with the Moon bringing it to Mercury? Hmmm. Curious. Any [extra] thoughts? Cheers, GH Quote Mon Aug 20, 2007 4:40 am
3 by Gunhilde I seem to be answering my own posts a lot lately. Ah well. Thinking further about this, I'm wondering if the querent isn't placed in the 12th because she *didn't know she already had it*, which would answer my second post. I think somewhere on this site there's a question pertaining to pregnancy with the querent placed in the 12th; she was already pregnant but didn't know it. Any thoughts? Anyone? Re: Unsolved horary revisited: Venereal disease 4 by Yasha Hello Gunhilde, You present an interesting chart. Though I must say as a warning, that we all must be quite careful with regard to taking in such charts.. Your referral to a clinic was indeed the best approach. Because we must always be very careful with regard to potentially giving out medical advise or a diagnosis. However, that being said, this is an area that does deserve much practice, perhaps even for preventative purposes. I read your quote Re: Frawley below. What he means by it is that you would not necessarily zero in on the 6th ruler first. Because his point is that in a disease related question we are looking for the author of mischief. A Malefic planet hitting our querent can be sufficent. The 6th house is best called the house of disease, rather than health. I took a quick look at the chart. Jupiter in this case is a Malefic, and it is in the sign of the genitals to begin with, in the 5th house indeed shows that a disease could be affecting her sex life. Even the idea that Jupiter being rx, is descriptive of Herpes itself, as it is a virus that literally shows up, dissapears and returns, hence the rx symbology. Further Herpes is a fixed disease, one that stays in the system without any known cures. Jupiter is in the fall of Lord 1 Moon, this is extremely negative reception showing potential harm to the querent. The querent exalting Jupiter means in this case that her focus is on it. We might say that the Moon is in strong personal dignity but it is traveling through the partners disease house, not good. In addition the Moon is beseiged by two Malefics 'Mercury in Pisces' in front of her and 'Jupiter in Scorpio' behind her. Both ruling malefic houses associated with disease. Not good! In addition the antiscia of Mars 5th ruler is on the Moon, this suggests to me that the sex life with him is causing her some hidden problems--a Herpes signature again. This is a problematic chart. Based upon the preponderance of difficulties present in this chart I would have to judge that it was more probable that she did catch it. But with the Moon in Cancer, she would probably not be showing any visible signs of it until perhaps the symbolic entrance into Leo. Certainly, it would be nice to hear the result, but in the absence of that we can certainly fiddle with our own devices and practice the art. 5 by Gunhilde Thank you, Yasha, for your assistance! I found the page where 'she was already pregnant', and sure enough, it was the 12th house with a separating trine. So here we have the querent in the 12th with a separating trine to Jupiter, ruler of the 'disease'. With your added input, Yasha, I am also inclined to say that 'yes', she has it. I am also in agreement with you about the state of Cancer; looks good, doesn't show it. She hadn't had any symptoms at all; this suggests that she *was* an asymptomatic carrier. I wish she'd gotten back to me. It would be nice to find out for sure! Cheers, GH Quote Tue Aug 21, 2007 12:57 am
