Just thought I'd post this chart and its outcome as a learning experience!

I had left the house in a hurry to visit a friend. When I got there I couldn't find my handbag. I couldn't for the life of me think where I had put it, given it contained my phone and purse! So I asked, "Where is my handbag?"

Instantly I saw that Lord 2 is Jupiter in Sag in the 1st house. This reassured me straight away that the bag was safe (Jupiter in dignity) and probably very close to me (in 1st house). Also, Lord 1 applies immediately to perfect opposition to Lord 2, indicating I will get it back very soon. The Moon is VOC but as the aspect between Lord 1/2 was so close, and Lord 2 was strong in the 1st, I didn't think this was a negative testimony. I also couldn't see any contact between Lord 7 (open enemies) and Lord 2, so didn't think it had been stolen.

Seeing that Lord 2 was in the 1st, I guessed I had left it at home somewhere. So I went back to my house to look. In my bedroom - nothing. Kitchen - nothing. Bathroom - nothing. I really couldn't see it anywhere. Then I let the cat out of the back door - and there was my bag, sitting on the table outside in the garden!

In retrospect the imagery of this chart is perfect, as Lord 2 is in the 1st house but in the next sign from the Ascendant, showing the bag to be at home (1st house) but outside (next sign round)!

God only knows how I managed to leave it there!!

Oh, I just looove lost object horaries. Especially when I get them right! I'm getting more and more intrigued by this 'next sign along' thing. It's not something I've paid much attention to as of yet, so this was a really good chart to show us, Keren. Ta!

Very nice retrospective on the chart!

Indeed Lord 2 in the 1st would suggest that it is close to you. When I looked at the chart I felt it was nearby the home, but may not be in it.

One thought that crossed my mind was that Mercury, Lord 10 was in a strong aspect to Lord 2 which could indicate that it was in your office, if that is, you had an office, and if it was nearby your home.

Otherwise, this sort of a position can be indicative of the object being in the 2nd room of the house, especially if there is a clear discernible 2nd room after the entrance.

What is rather neat here is that Sagittarius is so often associated with the wilderness, and so the object being outside with nature is quite perfect. A nice symbolic piece! Horary always has some magical experience and understanding that it teaches us.

In addition, the VOC Moon here is less worrisome because it is just about to end and then it immediately applies to a trine with the Sun. Since the Moon is in the 2nd, the trine aspect to the Sun can literally be seen as being light being brought onto 2nd house matter, making it visible to you. This of course, much like the Mars Jupiter perfection would happen rather soon.

Side Note: If, as we are in agreement, the symbolism of your house is Scorpio, and Sagittarius is your garden--what would be interesting to know, is how far away from the borders of your house--aproximately, the purse sat..

For example:Jupiter is in 10 degrees of Sag, and if we see the end of Scorpio as the border of your house, this could represent 10 feet from the door. Otherwise if we take the border to be starting from 25 Scorpio as the Asc, this could relate to a unit of 15, which could just as easily be that your table was between 1 and 2 feet away from the house. I am curious to know if this kind of a measurement fit into the reality.

Interesting point about the 10 degrees. I would definitely agree that it was in the first 1/3 of my garden, if you were to walk from the back door to the end of the garden. And about Sag being the "wilderness" - I had thought something along those lines! I'm just still marvelling at the symbolism of outside the door being the next sign round

Thanks for your observation, which rings so true! Here is another example of this happening.

My daughter (13 y.o) lost her father's mobile phone. We didn't know it was lost until three days after the event and after doing an extensive search we deduced that she'd been to her friend's house on the day it went missing and that this is where it must have got lost. Her friend searched high and low in her house to no avail.

L1, Mars, was in the Third House in Gemini showing clearly what she was worried about (apart from her father!) because this was the second mobile phone she had lost and she was in big trouble with him for her continued carelessness.

The phone is represented by the Sun, ruler of her father's second, the 5th. The Sun is in Libra in the father's 3rd House (!) in a dissociate square to L1. This once again showed not only the phone but short journeys and transportation...both significators pointed to cars. We realised after a while she had been given a lift home and that is where the phone must be. We were totally puzzled when her young friend said, no, she couldn't see it there either.

Upon visiting the friend again the day after the discovery, my daughter took the opportunity to look around. When she asked to look in the car, the friend realised she'd looked in the family's second car and had forgotten they had dropped her off in the first. There was the phone.

The example here is that the phone was lost right outside our front door BUT because it was in the car, it got taken away again!

Not only that - going back to a recent thread about aspects and mutual reception - in this chart there is a mutual reception without aspect between the Sun and its dispositor, Venus...which shows that the phone is safe. Venus is in the house of the father and very close to the turned 2nd.

Wonder's never cease with astrology!
