Is it possible to ask the question "How does x feel about me?" Obviously if you are asking does x like me horary works very well. But how would you interpret a chart in which the emotions are vague. Maybe use the 11th house as them and see if it's good and then the 5th and maybe the 8th for dislike?

Personally, I would imagine you'd have to be more specific. How does X feel about me as a friend? Or: How does X feel about me as a lover?

I've asked "how does X feel about me?" successfully in the past. Usually when I've met someone I like but am not sure how much my feelings are reciprocated. I've done this with both romantic and platonic relationships. Of course, these kinds of charts are tricky, especially when you are judging your own, because of course we are biased and maybe don't like the answer we get!

If it's a person you've just met, use the 7th house ruler, whether it's platonic or romantic. Basically we want some reception between Lord 1 and Lord 7. Triplicity is a good one. Eg. Lord 7 is Venus in Pisces. So L7 is strong (own exaltation) but also likes L1 (in triplicity of Mars). It's preferable to have L7/1 in some essential dignity of their own. See the thread on 1/7 house rulers for further discussion. If it's a romantic question, don't forget to use Venus as the woman's "animal instinct" and the Sun as the man's. (If it's a homosexual relationship then we have to do without these extra significators.) In terms of working out whether a relationship has the potential to become romantic, the Sun and Venus are vital, as they show the sexual attraction (or repulsion!) that is going on.

And of course, the Moon is most vital, as it shows the querent's emotional feelings. It can also show where the querent's true concerns lie, both in terms of receptions and house placement.

Thanks Kerren, I asked how does x feel about me at 2:34 pm in El Cerrito (Contra Costa County) CA, on 8/23. As a friend he is Venus in Leo and retrograde, that doesn't look good. As a partner he is Mercury in Virgo squaring my Jupiter in Sag in the first. At least we both look strong there. But I have Mars opposing me from the 7th which sounds like someone else in the way? As a friend the Venus is retrograding toward the mars but also into a trine with my Jupiter (unless it switches beforehand, I have to check). What do you think? Thanks.

I'm reading your question as, "Is there a potential for romance?" Therefore we use the 7th house because the focus of your question is a 7th house matter

Looking at this chart the fact that L1 and L7 are strong in their own signs is very interesting. This would indicate both of you are pretty happy where you are right now and neither of you are particularly desperate to start a relationship. The Moon is in Capricorn, its detriment, which might show you feeling a little down at the moment, and because it is also the fall of L1, you have negative feelings towards yourself. The Moon on the cusp of the 2nd can indicate money worries, or, more likely, you are concerned with your self-esteem. And from the position of the Moon in Capricorn, I would guess your self-esteem is not so good right now.

You're right to point out that Mars just inside the 7th cusp. It could show another person involved with him, or more generally it could just be a generally malefic influence showing that the relationship will not progress smoothly. Mars is separating from opposition to L1, which would show a past event. Have you recently argued with him?

Now to Venus and the Sun. Venus is R which suggests you are "going back" to something, like the idea of having a relationship with him. Or it might just be similar to the Moon in Cap, showing that emotionally you're not feeling great. Venus is in Leo, ruled by the Sun, which indicates that physically speaking you do want a man in your life. But with Venus R I don't think this is a good idea at the moment!

The Sun has just entered Virgo, the sign of L7. This makes me think that he is pretty self-satisfied at the moment. I doubt he is looking for a relationship.

L7 applies to square L1, which could show some meeting between you, but with both planets in their own sign (and therefore automatically in the detriment of the other), I very much doubt that this shows the start of a relationship.
