Does the client get the job? 1 by Andrew Bevan One of my clients asked this question at 20.45 GMT, Nov.4 2007. My answer was yes. The problem was that my new laptop had played a trick on me and was still running in Summertime. I had passed judgement on the wrong chart observing a Cancer ascendant with the Moon being the significator of the querent in her own triplicity in the exaltation degree of Mercury applying to the square of Jupiter through signs of long ascension. Jupiter is ruler of the 10th and dignified in his own sign. The true chart is different and I have to go over the details in a new fashion to see whether my verdict was justified. The querent is represented by the Leo ascendant and the Sun, who has dignity by face. The Sun has dignities in the Midheaven by exaltation. Jupiter is in his own sign and has dignities in Ascendant by triplicity and in the Midheaven by both triplicity and term. The Moon is almuten of the 11th house by exaltation and triplicity, and indicates what the querent hopes for. She is the dispositor of Mars, the lord of the 10th, and translates the virute of the Sun, signifer of the querent to the square of Jupiter, signifer of the 10th, through signs of long ascension. Jupiter is dignified. Jupiter disposes Mars, lord of the 10th, by both exaltation and term. Jupiter has dignities on both ascendant and Midheaven, so it all should work out, So what happens? Does she get the job? What do you think? I haven't got the facts but can sure let you know if the evidence turns up. http://www.astronor.com Quote Mon Nov 05, 2007 2:16 pm
by Tara Hi Andrew, Am I missing something? because I can't see what relevance Jupiter has in this question. Wouldn't you consider primarily the relationship between L.1 and L.10? They are separating from a trine albeit only by 21 minutes. The moon is separating from both L.1 and L.10, so does not translate light. The only way I can see perfection in this chart is if your client already had the job (L.1 separating from L.10) when she asked the question, and didn't know it yet. I look forward to hearing what happens. Tara Quote Tue Nov 06, 2007 2:55 am
by Andrew Bevan Judged on the placement of Mars I agree the conclusion to be negative. Mars is history. However, Jupiter gathers 5 essential dignites on the Midheaven, which is a similar strength as sign rulership, and Jupiter disposes Mars by both exaltation and term. Does Jupiter have significance that leads to perfection? If the woman gets the job, that's interesting - and if she doesn't get the job, that's interesting, too. That's why I posted the chart. It raises some interesting questions regarding the matter of perfection and usage/importance of lesser dignities. Both Sun, Mars and Moon are all in the terms of Jupiter. http://www.astronor.com Quote Tue Nov 06, 2007 6:23 am
by Tara I'll watch with interest to see if she gets the job based on Jupiter's dignities, but it will rather confuse the issue of a simple perfection based on primary significators and/or translation/collection of light. Tara Quote Tue Nov 06, 2007 1:46 pm
by Andrew Bevan I have not found my quote yet, but am certain that priority or preference in judgement may be given to the planet that collects two lesser dignities in the place, ie. house cusp, assigned to the question, . Willian Lilly does say on page 227 of Christian Astrology that the Moon applying to a planet who has dignities on the appropriate cusp is affirmative. The translation of light from the Sun, who is lord of the ascendant, to Jupiter, who has dignities on the cusp of the 10th, should prove the question even more radical and perfection certain. The Moon in the terms of Jupiter, applying to the dispositor of her terms, Jupiter, the same. Jupiter is in his own sign and ensures his working. http://www.astronor.com Quote Tue Nov 06, 2007 2:10 pm
by Tara Thanks Andrew. I think once you gain more knowledge of the art, you are able to make sound judgements based on more subtle reasoning such as this. Until such time I pray the gods of horary grant me simpler means of judging perfection or perfection denied. All ears for the outcome. Tara Quote Tue Nov 06, 2007 4:38 pm
by granny_skot Okay I'm confused, mars and Sun are Trine within one degree, Though I think Mars is interested in sun for Secondary reasons, Mars interested in Moon aspects. Sun is not int eh Best of Shape being in the Via Combusta, but will soon be removed, sun in Jupiters Terms, Mars in Jupiters Terms, Jupiter in 5th house, would this be a teaching opportunity? Otherwise it seems to me Mars is interested in Sun in a romantic way, which is somewhat an interesting thought? Also I think if it happens Mercury will be the driving force behind it happening? too many Mercury indicators, Jupiter in Mercury Terms, Moon and Venus in Mercury house, Mars in Mercury Terms, so rather a lot of Mercury indications, communications? or an intermediary? Saturn in Second, even if it is close to 3rd doesn't seem very good for $$ negotiations. Okay just a thought or two, Granny Quote Wed Nov 07, 2007 2:14 am
by Andrew Bevan The job in question is as a secretary (Moon in 3rd) at a bureaucratic office within the Government (Ruler of the 10th, Mars, in the 12th). I always though bureaucratic systems were ruled by the 12th - It is so easy to get lost in them!! There are bigger than life!! I don't know which department was involved, but this could quite easily be where the significations of Jupiter come in. Church, Law, Education or Foreign Administration. I didn't pay attention to the the Via Combust, Granny, but I did feel that Mars was interested in the Sun although the aspect was past, since Mars disposes the Sun by sign. Thank you, Granny, for putting yor finger on that detail! The Sun does have dignity by face! My impression feeling was that although the aspect was past - things were still standing strong! Perfection, though, I still feel is verified in the chart by paying correct attention to the specific details of classical astrology. http://www.astronor.com Quote Wed Nov 07, 2007 8:09 am
by Andrew Bevan Granny, the classics says that a planet may be ill affected in the Via Combust unless joined with Spica, which spares it. According to Lilly, this is an accidental fortitude and he is willing to allow the influence 5 degrees of orb. Personally, I would have settled for 3 degrees. In my mind this translate this into meaning that a planet essential dignified, viz by sign, exaltation, triplicity, term or face, is saved from the havoc of the Via Combust. The Sun is in his own face so he will not be ill affected of vulnerable for the affects of the Fiery Way. According to this analogy, Venus and Saturn would never be affected by the Via Combust in Libra because they are dignified by sign and exaltation, and Mars would always be dignified in Scorpio.
