Hello Cosmic Dophin,
so you are doing all charts with thole sign in each house, correct?
so we are getting rid of Regio for arcticc cirle countries?
No one said that.
It was my idea that probably the whole sign house system would work better in Steven's chart but I don't remember Steven saying anything about the house system that he used in this chart.

didnt Steven get the job?
i;d like to know how he managed to get this job wiht this chart? lol

speaking of charts

i have a quesiton
in one horary book there is the question retains to a mine *not a land mine*
will i leave a mine? lol the chart was in 1896
the querent is 1st
mine is 4th
the oppostion between ruler 1 and 4th..
the answer was yes

was it yes because the oppstion meant "separation": the miner leaving his mine?
thanks

In the distant past the ancients were simpler and only spent their time answering the question! We tend to look for hidden motivations today and too often try to answer more than is being asked.
An astute observation! It?s so simple: They just answered the question. It?s not so bad here at Skyscript. Some of the other astrology forum sites are amazing ? and disheartening ? in that the poor folks are trying so hard to squeeze the slightest amount of psychological significance they can out of anything astrological or astronomical that can be put into astrology software to squeeze.

there are 2-3 horary schools .. and i think people are confused on which one to use. I have heard that moon / pof will prevent the moon to be Void.. However, i have not seen this work.. This is Ivy's school.. Then
unless i am misreading Lilly, he says that if there is no aspect but there is Mr by sign .. you do not need an aspect to get a possitive answer
Astrojin said if MR planets are in each other's house then it is valid

What make it even harder is that examples in the books in a lot of cases are nto as detailed in explaining that it should be

Delong says that if planets are in the house of asked or significator then they become co-rulers, i have tested this on a few charts, it is not valid

cheers

steven wrote:I won?t drag this out. The conclusion of the matter is this: I asked the question on Thursday morning March1, 2007. The following Monday they called me again asking me to come in for a second interview on Wednesday, March 7. At that interview I was asked to take the job. Until that time, just what the job would be was only described in general terms. At that interview they told me I would be replacing a long time partner whose job had been the responsibility of their 2nd largest client and housing developer in Norway. In addition I came to start up and run an entirely new department in concrete and steel project development. So the end of the matter was I landed a job that is decidedly the best I have ever had in my professional career and that far surpassed my expectations both in terms of responsibility and what my livelihood would earn me.

So Gabe, you nailed it pretty good even to the 6 days I had to wait.
Yay! :D
steven wrote: As I mentioned I have 4 or 5 charts for clients with pretty much the same configuration; the significator of the querent is conjoined in one sign with a planet while joined by aspect to another and with which it will perfect first. In these other charts the planet with which it is conjoined in the same sign is direct, but in all the cases it is the planet with which it perfects its aspect first that decided the outcome.
So it does seem that Sahl is not accurate when it comes to this idea. Oh well, one less thing to try and figure out. :)
steven wrote:... My colleague who judged the chart for me did not see it that way but followed Masha?allah?s judgments in ?On Reception? that quite simply gives the conclusion of the matter to the planet which the significator of the querent will complete first. ...
Masha'allah's On Reception should be the starting point in horary, in my opinion. He is so clear and concise with his delineation, that it can be of great help to people trying to figure it out. I feel it helped me tremendously.

steven wrote: ...Now I?ve heard stated by several of my contemporaries that because there is no joining in the nativity, then it is weak and will do nothing. I would beg to differ. In fact the earlier Hellenistic view point on such a wide application is explained by Paulus of Alexandria in his ?Introductory Matters? ...
I'm going to have to dig up the copy I have of Paulus and really read it. I'm in a somewhat contrary position then yours: I also have many of these ancient texts, but I haven't gotten around to read many of them at all, other then a causal perusal. My laziness is a constant source of personal irritation.

After reading a post about doryphory (a summary of a book about doryphory) it camed to my mind that it is possible that reception to have as its source the concept of doryphory.

So, what if recpetion is in fact another kind of doryphory?
