12th house vs. 7th house?

Hello all,

According to Lilly and Bonatti, we put the 7th for questions on open enemies and the 12th on secret enemies.

According to Bonatti, the significance of secret enemies are those that express their enmities towards you in secret but show their "friendship" in your presence. Open enemies are those that have expressed their enmities openly (like the next castle Lord who challenged you into a duel).

In a couple of days time, I am going to be asked by the parents of a lost child (about 5 years old) who has been kidnapped (though no ransom has been made) and has not been heard of for the last month or so (probably killed). I am pretty sure they are going to ask me something about the perpetrator. Who would you assign the perpetrator to? The 7th or the 12th?

We don't know the perpetrator, so the 12th but John Frawley said in his book (Horary Practitioner) to use the 7th because although we don't know who the perpetrator is, he has made himself a public enemy through his actions. I prefer the 12th. What say you?

Thank you.

Hi Astrojin,

I vote for the 7th house because it opposes the Ascendant. Certainly someone who has abducted your child has declared himself to be your enemy. Thieves are signified by the 7th as well.

Aside from the 7/12 question, I'd look for the perpetrator to be described by whatever planet most afflicts the Lord of the 5th or planets in the 5th.

I don't envy you your task. All the best with it and keep us posted.

Tara

Hello astrojin,

A malefic planet in 7 or a malefic as lord of the 7 certainly would be a significator for enemies.

But the question about enemies is certainly linked with 12 house, so I wouldn?t neglect it either.

Hi Astrojin

It doesn't matter that you don't know who this is. It's the same situation really to using the 7th house to judge the identity of a thief when we know that a theft was committed but we don't know who did it. And our traditional sources are quite united overall in declaring the 7th house as the house of the thief (and the unknown person who did the recent deed)

Deb

Hello,

Thank you Deb, Tara and Sasha!

Yeah,... I have to agree with the consensus here (and with the traditionalists). 7th house it is then!

When I get to meet the parents and plot the chart, I will post it here then.

Thanx
