The game starts on the Day of the Sun and the Hour of the Jupiter. I grant the chart radicality on grounds of the Sun, who is both Lord of the Asc and the Day, is in the same triplicity as Jupiter, Lord of the hour. The double commitment of the Sun adds virtue to the chart, which may be useful to the favourite. However, the chart qualified by triplicity is the first thing that makes me think of a draw.

Sun, L1, applies to Saturn, L7, by trine and repeats the suggestion of the draw. The Moon translates the light of the Sun to Saturn, but burried in the 4th, and considering that she is in her fall and destroyed by the Sun, the game may have trouble getting off the ground. Venus, Lady of the 4th, culiminating in the 10th and applying by square to Mars, L10, and who is cadent, could bury the result.

The position of the Moon is interesting. Prehaps, due to her being within 2 degrees of opposition of the Sun and in such a state of detruction, this could prevent the trine from the Sun (AL10) getting through to Saturn. If there are any suprizes, I would suggest it was the Moon that had an 'underdog' function.

My suggestion is a draw. I love to see goals, but 0-0 is not uncommon in football.

It could be a draw but I think POF conj N Node (if it's not too wide at one and a half degs) will give the faves the edge. I've gone for 2-1.

I've decieded to give the AC to away team if they're odds-on faves because again, yesterday's chart makes sense(to me) if I assigned the AC to Man U.

Wrting this doesn't look good, when the 1st half is already over, but believe it or not, I went for A Villa simply because the chart is radical. The same goes for Newcastle, with the additional testimony of Moon conj anti-POF.

Asc Leo - Mars Lord of the Hour.
Actually, the chart is radical on two accounts: a) from sharing powers with the sign on the ascendant, i.e. warm and dry, and b) from sharing powers with the Lord of the Ascendant, who in this case is the Sun, and who is warm and dry.

For some reason, when judging horary charts and coming accross this double qualification I have found to give precedence to variation b) the sharing of powers with the Lord of the ascendant. But this shifts the control and initiative back to the Lord of the hour, who in this case is Mars.

Although it might seem rather back-forward to what one might expect on first thought, if radicality is granted upon the sympathetic powers between the Lord of the hour and the sign on the ascendant, the control of the chart is passed on to the Lord of the ascendant, which in this case the Sun. But that is irrelevant, because alternative b) comes in first position (remind me to renumber them some day...)

The explanation must be that the radical chart in all circumstances requires the participation of the ascendant; the ascendant does not function without its lord, but the lord has no function in the question of the radicality less its domicile is in the ascendant. This is difficult, but if you think that the Sun and Mars have the same powers, then the Sun says to Mars "OK, I'll let you handle that for me". If Mars is related to the powers of Leo on the ascendant, then this sign is still copyrighted by the Sun.

This division is primarily important if you want to decide the essence of a horary question and answer it at a glance. Ie. if Saturn is the control planet, this is a testimony that immediately grants any question regarding real estate. But the same planet would deny success in questions of love or pregnancy. In this fashion, the Moon is great for safety, but Mars is not.. and so on.

In an event chart, like the Newcastle-Sunderland game, where Mars is the control planet, I would pay more attention to the testimony of Mars than the Sun when adding up the balance of the chart. Not that the Sun is not important, but the control planet provides and interesting clue.

Chart radical with Venus as a trip ruler. LOA is recieved by LOH's house. This is the hardest chart of today's matches. Portsmouth have been in excellent form and recalling what Andrew said about radicality by tripricity, and also the Moon opposing Mercury(Man City), I hesitate between the game going to Man City and ending up in draw.

Andrew, I'm sure I remember you saying you liked to keep things simple Seriously though, you've certainly put a lot of hard work into the subject. Are you agreeing with the rest of us that Newcastle will win?

Re ManC/Portsmouth, I've gone for 1-0 to ManC for the reasons Gem's already mentioned - radicality and Moon opp Mercury (L1).

I can't be bothered to look at the chart, because our first day of spring is here. Although we have no leaves on the trees yet. However, I think the Villa victory is only fair!
