HIV? 1 by Draco Have I Contracted the HIV Virus? 23rd March, 2007, 15.29, St. Anne's, England. (03-W-03 / 53-N-45). Background: I was asked this question by a person with serious concerns that they may have been infected by the HIV virus. The night prior to the asking of the question, the querent met someone on a night out and agreed to go back home with them. The querent was already under the influence of alcohol at this stage and drank further upon arriving. The following day the querent discovered that the person with whom they went home with was HIV positive, and this from more than one source, but the querent is concerned as he cannot remember what took place between them other than that they had sex, but whether it was protective or not he cannot recall, hence his serious concern. 1.Is the querent ill? The ascendant is early, but I do not consider the question to be premature, I feel that this describes something else relevant to the question in comparison to the ascendant ruler and Moon, but I will describe this later. It interests me that Virgo rises, speaking of sexual health and morality, and the presence of the south node afflicts this Virgo ascendant. To see if the querent is indeed ill, I look to the ruler of the ascendant and find that it is a dry planet in a moist sign, so out of sorts in this respect, it is also detriment and fall, and right in opposition to the ascendant, so I think there is ample testimony that all is not well here. Mercury is afflicted by the Moon and by Jupiter, the despositer of the badly detrimented planet. The Moon separates a square from Mercury, and with the Moon separating a hard aspect from Mercury, this suggests past action that has been damaging to the querents own self and particularly as the south node is in the ascendant. This probably shows the unwise action of indulging in druken sex with a stranger that may have been unprotected. The Moon is desposited by Mercury, and so refers directly back to the main significator, making it doubly important. The Moon's affliction of it's own dispositer: having gone against one's own self. I notice that the ascendant, it's ruler and the Moon have all very recently changed signs, the Moon having moved from exaltation to peregrination, and Mercury from peregrine to detriment and fall, and these suggest that the querent has very recently undergone a change, and a change for the worse. This is why I do not consider the early ascendant to signify a premature question in this case, but other indications considered, is rather descriptive of very recent changes having taken place. Virgo is descriptive of sexual health and morality, and the south node taints the ascendant. 2. What is the nature of the illness? Jupiter dipositing Mercury rules over the hot, moist secretions of the body through which HIV is usually transmitted, and especially rules the blood, so this does not look good. It is made worse for the fact that Jupiter rules over the malefic eighth house, as well as the seventh with Mercury right upon it's cusp, and as this question concerns whether or not the querent has contracted a potentially lethal virus via the blood of another person, then this is a disconcerting sign. So in light of the nature of the question, Jupiter may indicate a 'corruption of the blood', as contracted from another. This all suggests that the querent is indeed ill with something, and this may well be HIV. Firstly, because of the indications given, secondly, because if the chart describes the querent as ill, and yet he expresses no symptoms of illness, then this tells us something about the insidious nature of the illness as embodied in Jupiter ruling the eighth and bodily in the fourth. Jupiter ruling the eighth, 'death in the blood' is a benefic, and so it's malefism is not overtly harsh but more benign, there is no immediate suffering involved or indeed, no immediate indications of sickness, and as HIV is a seemingly undetectable illness, this is why gentle Jupiter is buried in the fourth. These observations have me thinking that the querent is rather likely to have succumbed to HIV, but now I need to look to the sixth house to see if the relevant significator would bear out this interpretation of the illness, if so, then an affirmative answer to the question would seem incredibly strong. Saturn is the ruler of the sixth cusp, and represents the most enduring illnesses, particularly so, in that the sixth cusp is fixed, and Saturn is in a fixed sign, with retrograde motion making it even tardier, and furthermore Saturn is nestling in it's joy of the twelfth, where he is most content in his role as the covert enemy. Again, the illness is described as being less than obvious or non manifest, and HIV is permanent, and there is indication of an illness which is incredibly enduring, but there is more? The illness is obviously something that will hold for a considerable amount of time, but is there any further indication I can find of the illness being more than just extremely enduring but permanent? Yes, there is. The fourth house representing the end of matters will show the ultimate outcome of the illness, and I observe that the fourth cusp is also fixed, with it's ruler Mars in a fixed sign, so I think that there is enough testimony to conclude that the illness is permanent, for it is fixed now and will remain so in future. Mars has just opposed Saturn, which makes things even more interesting. It is a point of interest, that HIV is a 'retrovirus', Saturn is retrograde, it is also the dormant stage of a later illness, AIDS, and the retrograde planet and the twelfth house position would describe the illness as dormant. Mars is also a significator of the illness, and Mars is present in the sixth and is despositer of the Sun, natural significator of health. The Sun desposited by an undignified Mars shows lust laying waste to health. Mars having just opposed Saturn is very interesting, but I'm having a hard time trying to deliver a succinct interpretation on this. It is certainly not a good thing, and like the ascendant, Moon and Mercury recently having made changes of sign for the worst, and Mars having just opposed Saturn the night previous, I think that this shows the very recent aquisition of the virus. It is an interesting point, that if the querent did indeed contract HIV the prior day, which the chart strongly suggests is the case, then this would have occured under the partile opposition of Saturn and Mars. Mars represents barriers and reservations, and Mars over lust and sex. Protection not being used during sex, or indeed, not having the reserve to keep your pants on in the first place is embodied in the symbolism of Mars opposing Saturn, and I suspect that when people contract HIV, a great many of them will do so when Mars and Saturn are in harsh aspect. I think that this adds further testimony to the horary, because if the disease was contracted under the partile opposition, then such an event bears out some of the symbolism of this opposition. There are three significators of the illness, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars. These are superior planets, and HIV is indeed a superior disease, because we have no idea how to cure it. The superior planets are also the only three planets that occupy degrees of increasing fortune, putting them into a further position of power. All three significators of the illness are in stronger dignities than Mercury. HIV is always associated with the blood, the colour red often being associated with the illness, and it is of interest to me that both planets associated with blood in astrology appear as significators of the illness, Jupiter blood within the body, and Mars blood without. This is interesting because the disease is contracted through the intermingling of blood between the self and another, blood without becoming blood within. As such, I am fascinated by the fact that Mars and Jupiter are in precise sextile, which seems to describe an overt link between externalised and internal blood, the blood of others and one's own, so it seems this aspect indicates an exchange of this nature taking place, especially with all else considered, but I am unable to reconcile the meaning of this aspect regarding the planets as house rulers, but perhaps it isn't necessary. Saturn is an excellent significator of the HIV virus, for the reasons already described. Given everything, I feel very confident that it is a strrong possibility that the querent has indeed succumbed to the virus. I feel that there is more that can be interpreted in the Mars/Saturn opposition and Jupiter/Mars perfect sextile, but I am at a loss to make any more sense of it, and perhaps I am looking too deeply, as I have found my unfortunate answer. The next thing is to find out what will happen. What will happen? The Moon, having squared Mercury, it's own dispositor goes on to sextile Saturn and then oppose Mars, and so will remake the aspect between the malefics. If the illness was contracted under the opposition, then the remaking of this aspect by the Moon may represent the time of realisation for sure on behalf of the querent, that they have indeed succumbed to the virus. In any case, this isn't good. There is a ray of hope in this horary however, as Mercury does at least apply a close sextile to Venus, the strongest planet in the chart, and as Venus rules the tenth house of 'the medicine', and is almuten of the seventh, 'the physician', I feel that this reflects that although the querent is HIV positive, it will not develop into AIDS because there is good treatment available to make sure that this does not happen. This of course requires taking the test, and in the Western world, nobody with HIV need develop AIDS if they get tested and treated. I judged that the qurent has succumbed to HIV, but will not develop into AIDS and will not be the death of him. I did of course advise the querent to arrange for a test, and I still await news of the result. Will you share your ideas upon this horary? Quote Mon Apr 09, 2007 6:21 pm
2 by granny_skot Well I dont see any aspects between the ruler of the first and the moon and Saturn, ruler of the 6th, nor Jupiter ruler of the 8th considering it is a mortal desease. also ruler of first in 7th seems to me to clearly state that the querrant is very concerned with last nights partner, as well they should be. Mercury is in Venus Term and Saturn face, And Venus is is sextile mercury, so to worry about an std with partner here makes sense. Venus is in her own sign in the 9th in this chart, which seems to me to indicate some personal education is recomended. I would also recommend communication with the person in question about the night in question. Life is definitely more important than embarrassment. Venus rules 3 and 10 in this chart. note also Moon is just past square of main significator and emotion clouding communication and judgement under the circumstances is likely. Mars in the sixth house if I recall correctly Mars rejoices in the 6th house, not to mention is in oppostion to a very weak saturn, Overcoming his exposure to the desease perhaps? The wounded healer also present, possibly curing friend of self destructive behavior? (hey one can hope) Also Neptune, the illusionist is here, and mars is perfecting the connection. I sent you a non-astrological note regarding this as well, PM, but I am not certain I agree with the prognosis as I dont see a connection between significators and 6th house significator? just a thought. Granny. PS, I agree with you that saturn in Leo is a perfect description of HIV/Plague, but you note it is trine Jupiter, significator of the seventh, and not connected to the significator of the 1st or moon. 3 by Morpheus Draco----- My knowledge of HIV is not medically perfect. But i was wondering that it has more to do with sexual secretions (in a sexual inter-course). You would understand that the Querent and his partner had no blood transfusion but exchange of sexual secretions. Would not in that case we look at Venus? Lord of Ascendant in 7th----Concern about partner activity Sun in 8th--------------------Fear of Death? Moon in 10th house---------Reputation at stake as the Moon is recieved by South Node. I agree with Granny, some connection with sixth house ruler was necessary. In the absence of such connections. There are fears but not material realization of such fear. In the point system, Saturn scores much less. One more question (as i am student). Moon is pregrine and is not making major aspect to traditional planets within the moiety of its orbs. Combine this with Early degree of ascendant. Fear un-founded? One more thing and only experts can tell. If moon is not making applying aspect within its orb. It may mean. If the Querent was hopeful, his hopes are dashed. And if he/she was fearful his fears are just in mind.? ANyway it has been almost 17 days. What is the result of the tests? 4 by Morpheus Draco--- Admitted that Significant others are covered by 7th house but I am thinking that the Querent is much concerned about an activity rather than about the person. The points to note are:- -A Casual Sex (one night stand) -In the state of drunkeness They come in the ambit of 5th house. The Lord of 5th house is Saturn in 12th house and is an opposition to Mars in 6th (the aspect is separating) Regards Morpheus https://horusastropalmist.wordpress.com/ Quote Mon Apr 09, 2007 10:23 pm
HIV Worries? 5 by voyagergirl If, as one poster said, the moon does not apply to a major planet, then I would judge the chart as having the Moon VOC. If that is the case, I would tell the person not to worry, his fear will not be founded. Furthermore, if the significators of the 1st, 6th, 8th and 12th are not implicated then, again, even in spite of what might seem like a dire chart, it may be the chart is merely reflecting the querent's fears. I personally have done charts on suspected serious illnesses for myself and have noted that many times, the chart is fraught with what seems like very malignant aspects, but there was always something that pointed to a ray of hope and that turned out to be the case. Let's hope the same holds true here ... waiting on test results is agonizing. P.S. I suppose I can't help it as a former English teacher, but "It's" means "IT IS." It is NOT the possessive form of the verb, such as the cat's kittens or the dog's pups, rather it's a contraction! So whenever you write IT'S, think IT IS! Otherwise the possessive form is simply ITS, with no apostrophe. Quote Tue Apr 10, 2007 5:22 am
6 by 1000Camels Consider adding the Arabic Part of Sickness (ASC + Mars - Saturn) to your chart. This will give you some background info about the illness, it's dignities and aspects may tell you even more, especially if the querent's significator receives/aspects the POS ruler. 7 by Draco Thankyou for your comments all of you. Granny, STJ and Voyager, I understand where you are coming from, your comments make sense but I still worry about this chart for the reasons I gave originally, it seems so compelling and I wouldn't seek to interpret negatively lightly. I still await the results of a test from the querent. I will make sure I find out about this, and I'll post forth the result, so either way, the chart can be explored in light of the outcome. I wish I could get hold of the querent to explain that there are others that disagree about this chart. I fear that if I am incorrect that I have caused undue worry, but I never expected a question on such a grave issue. Yes, I already know this. When I typed the post I had a lot to type in little time, so you refer to errors I made while hurrying, it isn't because I don't know. The post is riddled with many more errors, which might have revealed that I may have been under pressure while typing, as opposed to me just being thick, which you may have presumed. In any case, I see you meant well, so thanks anyway. Consider adding the Arabic Part of Sickness (ASC + Mars - Saturn) to your chart. This will give you some background info about the illness, it's dignities and aspects may tell you even more, especially if the querent's significator receives/aspects the POS ruler. A good suggestion. It turns out that the Part of Sickness is at Pisces 3.22. This means that it is conjoined Mercury, the main significator, and is disposited by Jupiter, which in turn disposits the debilitated and fallen Mercury, and Mercury in this state was the first thing that suggested illness in the first place, so this isn't a good sign. I remember now that I had already looked at the Part of Sickness, but I hadn't mentioned this in the post. It adds further testimony to an unfortunate outcome, but I was in such a rush I forgot to mention it. I still fear that the querent has succumbed to HIV. I do hope I am wrong however, not only for the sake of the querent, but because it means that there is something I can learn from the chart. I will endeavour to obtain the results of a test from the querent, and I will post forth upon finding out what happened. Thanks again all of you. Quote Sat Apr 14, 2007 12:16 am

I thought astrologers read maps and energies and that those energies manifest in different ways. eg the bell curve. 9 by Draco Surely you can't make a prediction.....unless you are a clairvoyant. Then what is the point of reading any horary chart? What is the point of astrology at all? It begs the question of why you are here. The funny thing is, I am in fact clairvoyant, and have worked as such, but that's another story. Traditional astrology does not shy away from making specific predictions, and if you get it wrong, you get it wrong, come away with egg on your face, and more importantly, learn something. Unlike most modern astrologers, who avoid at all cost stating anything that is capable of contradiction, those who seek to employ traditional methods put their money where their mouth is, and hold their hand up when they get it wrong. I also make clear to querents, that while Astrology is infallible, I most certainly am not. Once the question was asked I had no choice but to interpret it. I'm not going to turn round and say 'Oh, I am sorry, I couldn't possibly look into such a scary and awful thing, both you and I are far too sensitive creatures to deal with such horrors'. If this is what the querent thought, it wouldn't have been asked. That just isn't me. I was presented with a challenge, and I rose to it. Shying away from all questions that smack of anything the slightest bit unhappy, which is most of them, as people tend not to ask astrological questions when life is all rosy and peachy, then we're not going to gather much experience. I take it you think that it is unethical, or politically incorrect to predict that someone may be ill with disease, or, shock horror, when they may die, but if a person has asked such a question, we can only presume they are prepared to deal with the answer. I don't believe in wrapping someone up in cotton wool and telling them how wonderful they are, that's what romantic relationships are for. Leave the soothsaying to the Chiron fans. The querent was not a client as such, just a querent. Was it necessary to quote the entirety of my post? It's already been posted once. Quote Sun Apr 15, 2007 6:04 am

No, it begs the question why you refused to follow the rules. I don't recall reading in Lilly or anywhere else where it says if the chart is premature, you can ignore that if it makes you feel good and boosts your ego. If the chart is premature, you stop the reading. End of story. Apparently you aren't clairvoyant enough to know that it takes 6 to 12 weeks for the HIV virus to incubate and replicate itself to a point where it will show up in tests, assuming the virus survives that long. There are people who are naturally immune or who have strong immune systems and can fight off viruses, including HIV before it gets out of hand. From March 23, it's only been 4 weeks and that might have been why the chart was premature. Draco wrote:Once the question was asked I had no choice but to interpret it. I'm not going to turn round and say 'Oh, I am sorry, I couldn't possibly look into such a scary and awful thing, both you and I are far too sensitive creatures to deal with such horrors'. Yes, you did have a choice, but you chose to ignore it. The chart cast was premature. You just had to lower your ego enough to tell the querent the chart was premature and to come back in 4 weeks and try again. Draco wrote:I was presented with a challenge, and I rose to it. Draco wrote:I take it you think that it is unethical, or politically incorrect to predict that someone may be ill with disease, or, shock horror, when they may die, but if a person has asked such a question, we can only presume they are prepared to deal with the answer. Yes, it was highly unethical and immoral. Therefore, if the initial negative HIV test was conducted within the first 3 months after possible exposure, repeat testing should be considered >3 months after the exposure occurred to account for the possibility of a false-negative result. Ninety seven percent will develop antibodies in the first 3 months following the time of their infection. In very rare cases, it can take up to 6 months to develop antibodies to HIV. You might want to study the subject in detail, since your analysis was wrong. HIV is transmitted by fluid to fluid contact (tears, saliva, sweat, urine, semen or blood). Many continually engage in at-risk behaviors and are exposed, but never contract it. Thousands of others have had HIV for years and never knew it. Your analysis was wrong, too. Jupiter significates the major circulatory system (arteries), not blood. In your haste, you totally ignored Neptune which significates white blood cells, which are the cells affected. HIV replicates itself using white blood cells, not red blood cells. Assuming the legal situation is the same as in the US, you forgot to tell the client to file charges to have the other person prosecuted and to file civil charges to recover monetary damages.
