It is primarily the relation between the Lord of the Hour/Day to the ascendant that is important. Secondly, Mercury is exalted in Virgo, not Gemini - so I would think twice before jumping to conclusions with Gemini. But your observations does open for some interesting thoughts - like: Should one pay special emphasis to that house which on its cusp shows the sign of exaltation of the Lord of the Day?
