I?m a new member, and I have been lurking some topics. This one I choose by random and because I never read a concerning if the querent is ill.
I?m a medieval astrologer and got my DMA at the Academy of Predictive Astrology in 2006.
I have been following much of the way Masha?allah, in On Reception, recommends to use to delineate the charts.
I read your answers, I agree with most of them, but I?ll try to do my own delineation, just as a way to present my way of working
First, I don?t know if the ASC is at 3:10 Virgo: I hope so and that we are looking at the same chart
The first think I noticed is that the Moon doesn?t look to the ASC and the ruler of the ASC look at it. So, according to Maha?allah the ruler of the ASC is the querent?s significator and the Moon is a co- sharer. The planet is in it?s fall and detriment, but in an angle and his next pass is to conjunct Venus. Venus is a benefic, dignified by position and by celestial position. Venus will pass her virtue to Mercury: this is a good testimony that he is not ill.
Saturn in the ASC of course is no good, and Saturn is the ruler of the 6th: so the ruler of the 6th in the first talks about an illness.
Saturn is received by Mercury by rulership and exaltation: it seems that the querent receives the illness. This is controversial, but according with Masha?allah even if woulb be better if Saturn received the querent?s significator, he says that the querent?s significator, receiving the Lord of the illness house this Lord couldn?t harm.
In second place, Saturn is Rx: he is going away of the ASC by the Primum Mobile, the primary motion, and by secondary motion.
My conclusion is that he is not ill.

Hello Draco,

This is indeed and interesting Horary and you have certainly put a lot of thought into it.

Here are some points I would consider with such a query.

1) As you point out, Lord 1, the querent, has recently changed into the sign of its fall, which automatically gives us the indication that something has recently happened to harm his condition. However, even though this is a health question this may also have to do with his state of mind about the situation. And although this change of state may be enough for a judgment, I would probably want to see more direct evidence of something really terrible going on to pronounce HIV for sure.

2) For example: Other than this recent square from the Moon (which is not very malefic) in this case there is nothing striking Mercury (aspect wise) with any heavy affliction.

3) Mercury is also in aspect to a dignified Venus. So the overall image of Mercury,( besides its sign change) is not that bad. The Malefic Mars and Saturn are tucked away in cadent houses and not directly affecting the querent (aspect wise). If it were, that would spell big trouble. Same with the Moon, which is only being afflicted by himself (lord 1). Thinking that the recent change into Pisces by Lord 1 could easily show a recent dip into a state of intoxication while involved with a 7th house person.

4) *Important* Note the lack of fixitity of his significators. The Asc. Itself is not fixed, Lord 1 is not fixed, neither is the Moon in a fixed sign.

5) So: Even though Lord 1 has made a change for the worse, it is not a fixed change. If for example Lord 1 was Mars, and Mars just moved into Taurus I would be far more apt to think that he has made a fixed turn for the worse. Same for example if the Asc. Recently moved into Scorpio (using the Mars example). This in consideration that the contracting of HIV is something that would be a fixed (for life) condition. With the Moon not fixed as well we are seeing additional testimony the overall condition presented is not fixed.

6) It should also be considered that it is known that people carrying HIV very often have a number of other ailments also present, some of them of a less fixed nature. It is conceivably that he is affected by something other than HIV.

7) I have found that the ruler of the 6th house represents the potential illness only when directly affecting the significators at hand by aspect or being ruled by it. This is not the case here.

Note how Lord 7 is afflicted by close aspect to this Mars Saturn opposition, which shows that the rumor is probably true about the person having HIV (a fixed illness). Lord 7 recently separating trine Lord 6 can show the querent's partner having contracted it, but not necessarily the querent. So if the question was about the partner this very nasty Saturn (well-appropriately describing HIV) is harming lord 7 (the partner) and giving strong evidence of infection.

9) So the worst case is that since Mercury Lord 1 is fully ruled by this highly afflicted Jupiter it is possible that he caught it. However, as stated above, I am more apt to think that he did not due the lack of direct affliction to Lord 1 & the Moon, and the lack of fixitity in his main significators?so that is my take on it.

Always interesting to go over such charts, and even better when we are fortunate enough to hear what the ultimate outcome was. However, since it has been over a year since this query was asked I kind of doubt that you will find out if you haven?t by now..We can hope.
