Would it be appropriate if the wedding ceremony is held while the Moon is in her last applying aspect (sextile) to Pluto before she leaves the sign of Libra? That is on 3 September 2008, 10:30 GMT+1.

I would say try to avoid the three modern malefics (uranus, pluto, neptune) by CLOSE conjunction.
Otherwise ignore them or you will never find any election ever.

There aren't any bad close conjunctions with malefics, but one of these will have to fall in the 4th house, which terrifies me. I 'll have to choose between Neptun and Uranus. I am more affraid to have Uranus in 4th. What do you think? Either that, or Pluto in 1st. :-(

I know it's not the best time to marry from September to the end of this year, but... I will have to find a day and time that isn't very bad, this September. The thing with 3 Sept was that the Moon goes void of course after this applying aspect with Pluto... so I didn't know wether to count it as a good time.

Oh well... The Sun is conjunct with Saturn, but both Sun and Saturn trine Jupiter. Is that okay?

I have extremely mixed feelings about electional astrology. For sure, focus on the synastry of the natal charts and their directions, progressions, returns and transits (your choice of the above). The electional chart as a stand alone is pretty minor. But that won't stop me from taking a stab at it as an exercise (and offering more than you really wanted). For a marriage I would put more faith in two people deeply loving and listening to each other.



You've got a classic No-No for most uses of electional astrology: Moon in the 1st. In fact, it's conjunct the ASC. Nearly everyone says this is undesirable.

The outer planets aren't 'activated' by simply occupying a house. There needs to be an aspect to make the planet pertinent to that particular chart. In this case Neptune in the 4th is closely trine the Moon and ASC. Dropping the ideas of trines as always 'good' and Neptune as 'spiritual', I personally don't get a good feeling from this Moon-Neptune-ASC configuration. Perhaps it helps that the Moon is separating from Neptune (I am just a student of all this, mind you!). But add that the Moon is traditionally already VoC and is in the Via Combusta, and things are looking pretty unfavorable.

Venus, the ASC ruler and natural ruler of love and marriage is in the 12th house. So is Mars, the 7th house ruler.

Saturn, ruler of the 4th (the location of Neptune) is combust. It looks like the chart is pointing to 4th house home matters . This is where my faith in astrology ? or at least electional astrology ? is sorely tested. If we change the wedding time by a couple hours does that really change the home life for the next 10, 25, 50 years?..... You mentioned that Sun-Saturn were trine Jupiter. Jupiter is in fall and weakly placed in a cadent house. Being retrograde would be the final blow to its chances of providing much aid, but its stationing direct is a good sign of renewed strength. Also adding strength, Jupiter has dignity by term and therefore isn't peregrine, but it's still in fall and cadently placed. We could throw in that it's occidental and nocturnal by placement in relation to the Sun as additional indications of weakness and an inability to provide much help.



But is there anything to electional charts? For a couple years I obsessed over finding a good time to help me quit smoking. Every day was ?I must quit, I must quit. When? When??. I usually got so worked up over finding a good time to quit that it drove me to the back porch for a cigarette. Finally, in February '07 I became thoroughly disgusted and just quit. I've never gone back in the nearly 17 months since. It wasn't even all that difficult. Something just clicked, and that was the end of it. The chart for the moment I said ?I quit? is truly terrible. It shows all sorts of weakness and lack of resolve. Maybe there's a difference with the chart being an event chart rather than an electional chart chosen in advance. I do wonder about that, but, most importantly, the experience has taught me to heed the inner urgings over the celestial signs.

I shared with kirk mixed feelings regarding electional, but I am too lazy to write them here :-) What I would say is that I teach that there are two principles:
1 - "anchoring" the chart to some natal chart, so we are sure that the result will be good. Don?t use as a stand alone technique. Example, ASC in natal venus, Sun trine natal jupiter, etc.
2 - "powering" - plug the chart in some power line. Example, an angular venus, sun or moon, planets in fixed stars, fixed star in asc.
3 - it a little like doing a solar return chart "in reverse"

Kirk - First, congratulations on your stopping smoking! :-)

As you may sense, at the moment I am pretty worked up over this marriage date, as it is my own wedding and it will have to be in September. It is difficult to coordinate ceremony times and venues.

One thing that is really bad, is that the chosen venue can only do ceremonies starting at 11:00, 11:30 and 12 noon (this is on the 1st or 3rd Sept, no other choice for dates before the Sun becomes afflicted in some way and before Mercury goes Retrograde).

So, I am first looking at the 11 o'clock chart for 3 Sept. Moon goes in 12 house and is in its last aspect to Pluto - I agree not good to be VOC after this last aspect. Here the 12 house Moon scares me... and considering your words, I think I may abandon the idea of marrying on 3rd Sept despite the Venus-Mars conjunction.

On the other hand, on 1 Sept Moon is in 11 house (a better placement I hope), but Mars and Venus have no aspect together, and the Moon is in a very late degree (30) of Virgo. Moon may be still combust...

What does the late Moon degree mean?

I need to make my choice very soon, in the next couple of days.
The coordinates are 50n48 0w23.

I know about Jupiter - can't avoid its position in Cap. At least I am a Cap myself so maybe now is the time to marry

With all this, I think that I will opt for the 1 Sept. Not many positive aspects, but no horrible ones either... my guess. And between 11 and 11:30 I may just avoid Uranus falling in 4 house. What do you think?

In our synastry we have only 2 major aspects and they happen to be quite positive - my Venus conjunct with his Moon in Sag, and my Moon trine his Sun.

yuzuru - My natal Venus is in my 7 house, close to Desc but not conjunct. With the limited choice for day and time for the marriage, I am not sure how to use that.

3rd of Sept seems to have good aspects with both natal charts. 1 Sept not so favourable, but no bad aspects. I can tell you the exact aspects later if necessary.
