You could do what I do and do some with astrology and take a few seconds for a blind guess at the others!! 8)
Hahaha! I'll look forward to hearing how many shirts the Skyscript League'll collect... keep us posted :D

After the first weekend the Skyscript League is ranked 308 with 6 points. We are 6 points behind the leaders. Could be worse!

Congrats to Yuzuru who got the highest individual score of 10 points, a mere 5 points behind the overall leader :'

Hi all

I've just realized that I've been working with the incorrect time this entire weekend - the starting times on the site are my local time - so I'm one hour ahead of BST.

So for instance, for the upcoming Liverpool vs Middlesbrough time on the site is 16:00 my time. So it really starts 15:00 BST - right?

Can you guys please confirm?

Many thanks

Susie

Wow - Yuzuru did do well!! And the Skyscript team is doing very well overall. I'm sorry, I seem to be the one pulling down the collective success rate with my own dismal failures this weekend. I'll have one or two more goes and then if it doesn't pick up for me I think I should offer to fall on my own sword and drop out of the friend's league before you all stop being my friend ! It's not fair that *everyone* did better than me, including Susie who didn't even have the times right. And just to put this into perspective, at a personal level I am now ranked 7555th. Just to see how low the ranking went I set up a fake account before the contest started for an account in which I made no predictions whatsoever. That's also currently ranked 7555th, so I'm supposing that must be the absolute limit of how bad someone can be. There's almost something special about my low score, because it's not just randomly bad, it is spectacularly bad - in a strange sort of way, I'm thinking I must have a gift for this ...

Don't worry, Deb, you are probably a slow starter. Remember last season when ManU made a terrible start, yet ended up champions? :D I'm not sure if it's possible to drop out but if you simply stop playing that will be even worse for the team because our overall score is based on the team average, i.e. total points divided by number of players. At least I think that's how they work it out.

That was a good idea. I'd been wondering how many people were playing. Last year when I joined half way through the season my starting rank was 25,000 or so!

Erm, no.

I've never actually paid much attention to sport - do you think that could be my problem :)

Come on Deb, you're not letting anyone down. I'm 2 points ahead of you and 5500 places higher. 1 correct score next week and you'll be flying.

There is a lot theoretical astrology on the forum, which I don't follow for a variety of reasons. This is one place on the forum that is light hearted and also practical, with no hiding places. It's a good place to test out ideas, certainly for events that come along regularly. I'm slightly suprised there isn't more cooperation of ideas on other things , such as the UK chart, volcanoes, , the monarchy, etc.

Good idea Ficina about the statistics on the Guardian forum, that should be worth watching.

What have we learnt after this weekend, I'll comment on that in the August thread.
